Taylor Swift Speaks Out…Finally

https://twitter.com/taylorswift13/status/822929499851526146

Taylor Swift tweeted her support for the Women’s March on Saturday but since she’s been silent up until now, the internet was NOT HAVING IT.

-Meanwhile, a ton of celebrities did make it to the march, including Rihanna. My favourite sign was Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist, though Jake Gyllenhaal’s came in as a close second.

-Meanwhile, I never thought I’d get excited about Kristen Stewart hosting SNL but she’s been so outspoken against Trump at Sundance that now I can’t wait.

Angelina Jolie is the new face of Guerlain fragrance — and she’d donating her entire campaign salary to charity.

-I love that The Big Sick, a rom-com written by and starring Kumail Nanjiani, is getting rave reviews out of Sundance (not to mention that it just landed the biggest Sundance deal so far, with Amazon picking it up for $12 million).

This entire thread is why Twitter can never die.

-When the Oscar nominations are announced tomorrow morning, Ryan Reynolds is hoping to see Deadpool among the films honored. I’ll be really, really surprised if that happens. I’m guessing Hacksaw Ridge or Fences have a better chance of nabbing that 10th spot.

-Star Wars Episode VIII has an official, and somewhat grim, new title: The Last Jedi.

-I caught up on The Good Place finale. Holy forking twist!

Stephen Colbert has been tapped to host this year’s Emmys. I like him just fine but are white male late night talk show hosts the only ones allowed to host things anymore?

-Veronica Mars boss Rob Thomas says they’re hoping for a 6-episode revival but haven’t figured out scheduling yet.

-I watch and enjoy a bunch of Greg Berlanti joints, but Hollywood needs to stop handing him new shows. This is getting ridiculous.

-Speaking of Berlanti shows, I’m not super pumped to learn that Darren Criss is going to be the villain in The Flash/Supergirl musical crossover. The Glee reunion bit is fun I guess but he’s reportedly…not totally great.

James McAvoy  had a really good weekend.

-Wait, Demi Lovato spends four hours a day at the gym? And that’s being presented as a good thing?!?

-An SNL writer has been suspended indefinitely for her Barron Trump tweet. So to recap: SNL writers face more consequences for tweeting stupid shit than the POTUS.

Paige keeps spy cool in the new promo for The Americans.

-The trailer for Lifetime’s Britney Spears biopic looks about as cheezy as you’d expect. She’s nailed the voice, though.

Jennifer Aniston Hints At Return to TV

Jennifer Aniston is starting to lay the groundwork for her inevitable return to TV. (And she’s not just talking about those terrible airline ads.)  I’m frankly surprised it took her this long.

-Self-professed foodie Aziz Ansari dramatically read bad Yelp reviews on the Tonight Show last night.

Kristen Stewart never graduated college but she has coauthored a research paper on artificial intelligence because Hollywood!

Uma Thurman’s custody battle continues to be nasty. Now her ex is denying an alleged prostitute addiction.

Cuba Gooding Jr. filed for divorce from wife Sara Kapfer after more than 20 years of marriage.

-I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks Will & Grace seems painfully out of date now. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle that in the revival.

-I assumed that this story about Matthew McConaughey saying he was balding in the ’90s until he found a miracle cure was fake news but … I don’t think it is?

-The new trailer for NBC’s Powerless looks pretty great. As someone who’s starting to OD on superhero stuff, a show about the schlubs who have to clean up after the heroes’ battles seems like a fun twist.

Melanie Lynskey is tired of everyone in the new I Don’t Feel at Home in This World trailer.

Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange’s New Feud

ew-feud-susan-saradon-jessica-lange

-EW has our first look at Ryan Murphy’s new series starring Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange as Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in Feud. God, I want this in my eyeballs right now…

-Speaking of Ryan Murphy shows, his next topic for American Crime Story might be Monica Lewinsky. Gimmie!!

-An ET reporter dared ask JLo about collaborating with Drake and she wasn’t having it. (Imagine if she’d actually been asked about *collaborating* with Drake…)

-At last night’s People’s Choice Awards, Blake Lively‘s acceptance speech was all about girl power but she won for a movie about a shark so I was a little confused. At least her outfit was pretty great. AND she brought her sister Robyn from Teen Witch!

-Speaking of PCA speeches that I liked the intent of but didn’t really understand, I *think* Sarah Jessica Parker was talking about appreciating her fandom? Maybe?

-In other PCA news, I was really bummed by Kristen Bell’s outfit. As the Fug Girls remarked, it looked like she was trying to bring back Varsity Blue’s whipped cream bikini.

Celine Dion is contributing an original song to the Beauty & the Beast soundtrack and suddenly the world doesn’t seem so dark.

Donald Glover is really owning this coat. Is he trying to audition for the all-female Ocean’s Eleven remake or something?

-This video of the This Is Us cast being told the show is getting renewed for two more seasons is all kinds of cute.

Alanis Morissette‘s ex-manager admitted in court to embezzling $4.8 million from the singer.

Chrissy Teigan is here to remind us that the paparazzi is gross.

-I still can’t believe that Anne Hathaway‘s Colossal is getting distribution. It’s one of the weirdest movies I saw last year (in a good way!). Here’s the first promo.

Chris Evans is such an adorable puppy.

-Sad news: character actor Miguel Ferrer (who also happens to be George Clooney‘s cousin) passed away at 61.

-Jesus. A Trump staffer says Kanye West isn’t “traditionally American” enough to perform at the inauguration.

-The new Japandroids album is streaming on CBC and it’s sooooo good!

-There’s also a new Arcade Fire song.

Kevin Smith is directing more Supergirl later this year. I like this gig for him (he did a really, really great job on The Flash). As long as he keeps his Black Canary-loving butt away from Arrow…

-Speaking of Supergirl, this is a really good article on why it’s the most progressive show on TV right now. I really should try it again.

-In other geeky TV news, Amazon is adapting Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. YASS!!

-I don’t watch Sherlock but from everything I’ve ever read about Steven Moffat, I’m not surprised to hear him dismiss female fans’ (and the actress in question’s) reaction to a recent episode.

-I’ve never understood how come every year there’s always one sound that becomes ubiquitous in movie trailers? I feel like Cameron Diaz’s character in The Holiday could really shed some light here…

Bryan Cranston is a giant talking head, Kanye West sings, and Elizabeth Banks wears green contact lenses in the first Power Rangers trailer.

-In much more promising trailer news, the latest promo for Logan continues to impress.
