The New Divergent Trailer: Shailene Woodley Explains the Factions

-The final Divergent trailer actually does something the previous ones failed to do: properly explain what being “divergent” actually means. I’m really liking the look of this, although Theo James‘ voice might drive me crazy if I have to listen to it for more than 7 seconds at a time.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were photographed heading out to dinner last night. Man, she looks skinnier than ever, no?

-Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter addressed those rumors of an epic Gwyneth Paltrow “takedown” in his Letter to the Editor.  He claims the story was never going to be a vicious exposé, but also says of her demand that other stars boycott the publication: “Kim Jong-un couldn’t have issued a more blanket demand.”

Mariah Carey posted a revealing bikini pic on Instagram and tried to convince us it was about her bad hair day.

Amy Adams had lovely things to say about working with Philip Seymour Hoffman, while Becky Ann Baker remembers Christmas caroling with him. My favourite tribute is Patrick Fugit‘s memories of their time on the Almost Famous set.  Oh, and James Franco also penned an essay on him, because of course.

-Meanwhile, Hoffman had reportedly been kicked out of his apartment by his girlfriend three months ago because of his heroin abuse.

Chris Brown escaped jail time, as long as he stays in rehab.

-Somewhere in Hollywood, Jonah Hill is squeeing loudly. He’ll team up with bromance buddy Leonardo DiCaprio again for a film about the 1996 Olympic bombing.

Benedict Cumberbatch tries to convince the cast of Sesame Street that he’s not really Sherlock in this very cute clip.

B.J. Novak‘s secretive Amazing Spider-Man 2 character has been revealed, which is all well and good, but does Spider-Man 2 have too many villains? There are at least three confirmed, and more rumoured.

Barbara Walters jumped to Woody Allen’s defense on The View yesterday. Never did I think the day would come where I’d be nodding along in agreement to something Jenny McCarthy said.

-Also wading into the Woody Allen fray is author Stephen King, who tweeted that there was a “palpable bitchery” to Dylan Farrow‘s open letter.

-A “source” tells Us Weekly that Kim Kardashian won’t be on the cover of Vogue after all.

-Meanwhile, a sketchy British tab claims Kimye are trying to hash out a prenup that will see her get $5 million for every child she gives him.

-A teaser for Michael Winterbottom’s Amanda Knox movie has landed.

-I don’t watch The Bachelor but apparently this season’s guy had sex with one of the contestants before he was supposed to (wait, there’s a schedule?!), and now everyone’s clutching their pearls in horror.

-A couple who won a trip to the set of Bones made the most of it by getting engaged in front of David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel.

-Leave it to Taylor Swift to make Glamour look like Seventeen.

-Speaking of magazines, Lupita Nyong’o looks amazing in Vogue Italia.

-I keep forgetting (repressing?) the fact that Joel Kinnaman and Olivia Munn are dating.

Gwen Stefani posted a photo of her 14-year-old self getting an autograph from Sting and it’s adorable.

-This makes me stupidly happy: Ken Marino and Casey Wilson will star in a new NBC sitcom from the creator of  Happy Endings.

-Speaking of new shows, Zooey Deschanel is developing an animated fairy-tale comedy for Fox. Because *of course* she is.

-Meanwhile, I really like this article comparing New Girl with The Mindy Project. It’s true — the same time I stopped liking NG was around the same time TMP started getting really good.

-Sweet! Pharrell will perform at the Oscars.

Linda Cardellini has just been cast as Kyle Chandler‘s sister in a new Netflix original series that I want to watch RIGHT NOW.

Eddie Izzard did a Reddit AMA today and it was delightful. Will Ferrell also did a funny one.

-In other AMA news, the creators of How I Met Your Mother did one and revealed that Jennifer Love Hewitt almost played Robin, and Britney Spears saved the show.

Jennifer Lawrence says she’s turning her phone off for a year the day the last Hunger Games movie wraps, which might not be a bad idea.

Howard Stern had the best birthday party ever. Pretty much every famous person alive showed up, and Ryan Phillippe gave Robin Quivers a lapdance.

Beyonce gets glitter-bombed in her new perfume ad.

Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Joel McHale, Seth Meyers, Neil Patrick Harris, and Lena Dunham all appear in the trailer for the next season of Billy on the Street.

-The fact that the Veronica Mars cast is going to live-tweet a rewatch makes me want to break out my old DVDs.

Lea Michele forgot her pants on the cover of her new book.

-If there was ever any doubt that George Clooney would be an awesome guy to go drinking with, this video should squash it.
