-There’s been lots of talk post-Shonda that ABC is trying to pivot to attract “the heartland.” Now comes word that they’re making a live-action version of The Jetsons, and they signed a mega-deal with Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse.

-This is an interesting take on whether or not Rotten Tomatoes can crush a movie. (Personally, I think the reasons bad movies tank is because they’re bad.)

-Everyone’s looking very closely at how the well-reviewed Lucky Logan performs this weekend, because Steven Soderbergh completely bypassed the studio system to make it. He limited the marketing costs, and created an internal site where everyone involved in the film — from casting agents to actors — can log on and get a breakdown of how it’s performing.

Kim Kardashian Confirms She’s “Definitely Trying” for Another Baby

-I have no interest in reading THR’s Kardashian cover story, but I did like this accompanying bit from a branding expert on how the family redefined the business of celebrity.

Anna Faris thanked her podcast listeners for their support, saying “Hey, dear listeners. I just want to thank you all so much for all the love I’ve been receiving, and I truly love you.” (I loved the story they told on the Jam Session podcast this week, in which one of the girls talks about interviewing Anna and then being invited back to her house to drink wine for four hours.)

-I don’t watch Suits, but I support any show that gives Gina Torres her own spinoff.

-Girls Trip’s Tiffany Haddish remains the best talk show guest.

-Last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Daniel Craig finally confirmed he will return for a fifth James Bond movie.  “I think this is it. I just want to go out on a high note.”

-Late night shows were on fire last night. Colbert’s blow-by-blow takedown of the president’s press conference was merciless — and his team wrote it in less than an hour. Jimmy Kimmel made an outraged plea for Trump supporters to finally abandon their president. Seth Meyers tore up Trump’s “clinically insane” presser.

-God, I love Mark Ruffalo. He and Olivia Wilde joined the huge protest outside of Trump Tower last night, where Mark shot some video.

Lisa Rinna tweeted “All lives matter” and then claimed she didn’t really know what that meant. Sigh.

-After 16 years, Helen Hunt and Matthew Carnahan have decided to call it quits.

-According to Jason Bateman, Arrested Development season 5 production kicks off next week.

-That Tom Cruise on-set injury we saw in the leaked video earlier this week was serious; it shut down the Mission Impossible production.

Chris Brown tried to explain his side of the story in his Rihanna beatdown. Keep it.

-Bachelor in Paradise debuted last night and was all like “we cool, guys?

-This story about Belle and Sebastian accidentally leaving their drummer in pyjamas in a Walmart made me LOL. “Shit, we left Richard in North Dakota.”

-I really like this NYT piece about why, in a body-positive moment, Hollywood remains out of step. “Movies – studio movies in particular – show little improvement for lead actresses. There is only Melissa McCarthy.”

-I also like this Vogue piece with Oprah about how she’s on a roll (again).

-Here’s the first trailer for The Killing of a Sacred Deer starring Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman (featuring a creepy good use of anEllie Goulding song). This film was both booed and applauded at Cannes. It’s from Yorgos Lanthimos, who did The Lobster — a movie I didn’t really understand but still have a strange affection for.

Mindy Kaling Breaks Silence on Pregnancy

 

Mindy Kaling spoke about her pregnancy for the first time in a new interview with Today — keeping it in the NBC fam. (“I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where I’m like, ‘OK, it’s out of my hands,’ which is kind of a fun feeling.”) The full interview will air Sunday.

-On Twitter Chris Evans is counting down to the day he’s reunited with his dog, and it’s giving me feels.

-Well, well, well…Jesse Williams‘ wife is now asking for sole custody, citing his dating habits and alleged temper. According to TMZ, she wants the judge to order him to keep girlfriends away from the kids until he dates them for 6 months.  She also claims that last month he threatened to kill his next-door neighbor after an argument and aggressively pursued him in his car with their two kids inside.

Reese Witherspoon says the Big Little Lies finale sequence is “better than about 95% of other movies I’ve been in.” She’s not wrong.

-Deadpool 2 has halted production indefinitely due to a stuntwoman’s death.

Joshua Jackson will make his Broadway debut in ‘Children Of A Lesser God’ and I’m so weirdly proud of that guy…

Ozark Season 2 is happening. I feel like it’s one of those shows that critics hated so no one talks about it, but everyone is secretly watching.

Leonardo DiCaprio is dating another model. But she’s not blonde, so that’s growth…right?
