Stars Share Their Snaps from The Oscars

Joseph-Gordon-Levitt-daniel-radcliffe
Joseph Gordon-Levitt posted this photo on Facebook with the caption: “Me + Mr. Radcliffe. #Gangster. #Oscars”

-Are you sick of the Oscars yet? If not, check out some of the behind-the-scenes pics that celebs shared on social media.

Michelle Obama was on a roll this weekend! First she danced on Jimmy Fallon’s show, and then she announced last night’s Best Picture.

-Gawker took the time to compile all of Seth MacFarlane‘s sexist, racist and homophobic Oscar jokes, just in case you hate yourself and want to see them again.

Jennifer Lawrence‘s acceptance speech was a bit subdued (I’m guessing her fall on the stairs shook her up a bit, though I love that Bradley Cooper and Hugh Jackman both rushed to help her). But she was back to her charming self soon after, cracking jokes to the reporters backstage (“I’m sorry, I did a shot before. Jesus!”), and then having a total freak-out when Jack Nicholson interrupted her interview. God, I’m starting to love this girl in a way that’s probably not healthy. At least I’m not the only one

-If Joaquin Phoenix couldn’t even pretend to not hate everything about the Oscars when they said his name last night, why’d he even bother to show up?Also, does anyone else think he and Kristen Stewart are destined to become BFFs and form a sulkypants gang?

-Speaking of Kristen Stewart, she’s getting a lot of flak for her appearance. My boss asked why she looked so “sweaty” (though Lainey’s going with “greasy.”) KStew said she was limping because she stepped on broken glass last week, but that still doesn’t explain the arm bruises or dirty hair.

Charlize Theron continued her awesome streak by coming to the aid of an Academy Awards security guard who was having a seizure.

-At an afterparty, Jennifer Lawrence managed to hold court with Bradley Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio at the same time, making every woman in her immediate radius bow before her.

-Speaking of afterparties, Sally Field became my new hero with this pic, Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson wowed in the style department, Anne Hathaway wore a party dress that might actually be worse than the one she wore to the ceremony, and Modern Family‘s Jesse Ferguson was the king of the photobomb.

-Wanna know what it’s like to watch the Oscars at the Vanity Fair party? Check out this video. And yes, you will want to adopt Amy Poehler after you see it.

-Is it awesome or tacky that Eddie Redmayne‘s girlfriend didn’t buy a new dress for the Oscars?

-Guys, Joanna Newsom and Andy Samberg are getting married!

-In other happy couples news, Christina Applegate married longtime boyfriend/baby daddy Martyn LeNoble.

Janet Jackson just confirmed that she got hitched last year.

Tina Fey looks *incredible* in this Time photo shoot.

-Britney Spears is brunette, y’all!

-I don’t watch Game of Thrones, but everyone I know is very excited about this new Season 3 trailer.

Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen‘s odd buddy movie continues. She’s going to play herself on Anger Management.

-Wait, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordgren are back together?

-Instagram has reportedly threatened to shut down Madonna’s account due to its “mature content.” But where else are we supposed to get officially sanctioned yet surprisingly unflattering photos of her?

Kanye “I Need to be the Centre of the Universe” West has no love for Justin Timerlake and Jay-Z‘s “Suit and Tie.”

-I don’t see anything, but belly bump watchers insist Fergie is starting to show.

Gillian Anderson has landed a role on a new NBC pilot. (She’s also going to star on Hannibal, but only for three episodes — which is good because it sort of feels like the network is trying to bury that show before it even premieres.)

-In other TV news, Maya Rudolph might be bringing back the variety show.

Jimmy Kimmel‘s post-Oscars special resulted in another Movie: The Movie spoof trailer, but I laughed more when Jamie Foxx serenaded Channing Tatum.

Oscars’ Best and Worst Dresses: Red Carpet Recap

oscar-dresses-2013

Nicole is in the Bahamas for a corporate retreat, but that didn’t stop us from IM’ing about the red carpet Sunday night. I was watching the show in an office building so my wardrobe consisted of sweats and pigtails; she was probably wearing flip-flops and slurping some margaritas while commandeering a TV in her resort’s bar. So we possibly weren’t the most qualified people to judge others’ wardrobes, but since when has that ever stopped us? Let’s jump in, shall we!

jessica-chastain-oscars

Jen: Jessica Chastain was the first big star to arrive on the red carpet (which was weird, no?). I loved the old school Hollywood hair and makeup, but I’m not sure about her Armani gown. Fit is great, colour is not.

Nicole: It would be a stunning choice if she had opted for a color. What a great silhouette, great fit, disappointing colour. Octavia Spencer, on the other hand, does nude beautifully! Wow!

amy-adams-oscar

Jen: Amy Adams underwhelmed in a dove grey Oscar de la Renta gown. Colour, ladies!!
Nicole: Dear Amy, please find a lipstick in a hue that is not nude. Hugs, Nicole.

reese-witherspoon-oscarsNicole: Reese Witherspoon looked stunning in a teal Louis Vuitton gown and jewels, making the most of her mom curves.
Jen: I like Reese’s dress. She’s not a nominee so she went a bit more understanded than glam, which is the perfect choice.

jennifer-lawrence-oscars

Nicole: Oh, Jennifer Lawrence. It’s so, so beautiful up top until the pouf. Then it looks very, very bridal (though it photographs much better than it appears on TV). The shape is more structural and the fabric more interesting in photos.
Jen: I think I was most looking forward to this one, so it’s a bigger disappointment than the others. What a terrible paper lantern-y skirt. (Although she referenced ‘Father of the Bride’ and jokingly threatened Emma Stone in her red carpet interview, so I still love her.)

kerry-washington-oscarsNicole: Kerry Washington dazzles as the rare gem that makes a red dress work on the red carpet.
Jen: I love the colour and uniqueness of Kerry Washington’s Miu Miu dress; the chest area flattens her out a bit.

zoe-saldana-oscarsJen: Zoe Saldana is wearing an Alexis Mabille gown. I’m loving the bust, not as in love with the bottom of it. Still great, though.
Nicole: There is a lot happening with Zoe’s dress, but I think I love it. The flowered bodice is lovely.

jennifer-hudson-oscarsNicole: When it came to Jennifer Hudson, I loved the colour and appreciated the front slit. It’s very modern.
Jen: I loved the colour of Jennifer’s Roberto Cavalli, but there was a weird belly issue happening, unfortunately.

helen-hunt-oscars

Nicole: Helen Hunt was selling hard for H&M, of all brands. It’s really lovely, but it’s got a bit of a mermaid bottom. Kill the mermaid!!
Jen: Hey, at least it’s not Marchesa!

naomi-watts-oscar

Nicole: Naomi Watts for the win in Armani. Wowza. Killed it. My favourite of the night.
Jen: Me too! This is why I want Armani Prive for my never-to-happen red carpet moment. Always so slinky! Remember Anne Hathaway at the 2011 Golden Globes? Her best look ever.

anne-hathaway-oscars2

Jen: Speaking of Anne Hathaway, she says she’s wearing Prada but I think it’s really Gwyneth Paltrow’s old Oscar dress. The bow in the back is terrible. And is that a ’90s choker?! As if misprouncing Cards Against Humanity wasn’t bad enough…
Nicole: Anne’s nipples are terrifying. But I can’t look away.

jennifer-aniston-oscarsNicole: I’m underwhelmed by Jennifer Aniston‘s orange Valentino dress. It shortens her torso and makes her look a bit hunched. Lazy hair doesn’t help?
Jen: Yeah, I’m also disappointed by Aniston. At least it’s not black this time, though. Once again, she’s doing nothing to shoot down pregnancy rumours. And someday I’d love for her to surprise us with an updo!

nicole-kidman-oscarsNicole: Nicole Kidman wears a deceptively simple sequinned tank dress that doesn’t quite work, coming off as garish instead of glamorous.
Jen: Nicole is once again wearing L’Wren Scott, but I wish she would have wore the one she wore to the Stoker premiere instead. This looks trashy. (Though it looked so much better in photos. Slinky and sexy, while when I first saw it on TV, the neckline looked like it was animal print for a sec.)

salma-hayek-oscars

Nicole: Salma Hayek is gorgeous. Wow. So different from the boob show she usually gives us.
Jen: I like her Alexander McQueen dress, but she hurt herself by wearing a tiara!
Nicole: Haha. As if you’re going to judge a girl for wearing a tiara!!!
Jen: You’re right. I wear a tiara to wash the dishes. Carry on, Salma.

kristen-stewart-oscars

Nicole: And last but not least, Kristen Stewart is not fooling anyone with her virginal white Reem Acra dress. I know what you did last summer.
Jen: Mean! I don’t love this dress on her, though. It’s way, way too old. And the tulle on the bottom? Ugh.

(Jen: I also live-blogged the Oscars for MSN. Check it out here.)
