Frances McDormand Dances Into Our Hearts

https://twitter.com/CourtneySoliday/status/993687371781738497

-Vogue shot artsy videos of the stars dancing around an exhibit room during the MET gala. The good ones are RihannaCardi BNicki Minaj, and Katy Perry.  The very best one is Frances McDormand dancing to Basement JaxxShe really did look like she was having the night of her life.

Katy Perry flew Kim Kardashian’s press on nails to LA for the MET gala. That’s true friendship.

-At last night’s MET Gala, the theme was Catholicism and the outfits were nuts. I adored Lena Waithe in a giant rainbow capeZendaya‘s take on Joan of Arc, and Blake Lively‘s burgundy number. But no one made me happier than Chadwick Boseman with hair sparkles, and  Frances McDormand  in Valentino.

-I’m really bummed that Scarlett Johansson broke the A-lister embargo and wore Marchesa, despite the Weinstein connection. She says their dresses make women feel “confident.”

Jay-Z, Eminem, Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston and more are demanding money from the Weinstein Company.

-Congrats to Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst, who had a baby boy.

-I don’t even watch Lethal Weapon, but what’s going on with that show is crazy. Clayne Crawford has been fired as the lead of the Fox drama as producers are scrambling to recast the role, and renewal is supposed to hinge on who they cast. Multiple actors have already passed, according to THR.

-All of the original Avengers got matching tattoos, except for Mark Ruffalo, who opted out. (But Chris Evans has a plan to get him “blackout drunk.“)

-The R. Kelly house continues to crumble before our eyes. Two new accusers appeared on Megyn Kelly Today to detail sexual the harrasment they faced: “You weren’t free to walk throughout the house…We were required to call him Daddy.”

-This makes my heart sad: Colton Haynes has filed for divorce from Jeff Leatham after just six months of marriage. Rumours started circulating this weekend after he released a new song about a cheater, and a blind item began circulating. Haynes shut down speculation that Leatham cheated on Twitter, but did not deny the split. Poor guy; he just lost his mother, too.

Kristen Stewart is looking at Cate Blanchett exactly how I would.

-Here are all the references in the new Childish Gambino music video you probably missed. (I know I did.)

-I can’t stop watching this video of Mariah Carey putting makeup on a stranger.

-Why the hell did The Hollywood Reporter gives Jeffrey Tambor and his sexual harassment allegations a sympathetic, soft-focus profile?  “I did raise my voice at times, I was moody at times, there were times when I was tactless…But as for the other stuff, absolutely not.”

-Meanwhile, the cast wants extra compensation for Netflix’s recut episodes.

-Cancel Bear (who is usually spot on about these things) posted his TV renewal predictions for networks. On Fox, he thinks Gotham and Brooklyn Nine-Nine are toast, Kevin will no longer be saving the world on ABC but Quantico should get a pass, on NBC all their new comedies and Timeless are likely done, while almost every show on CBS and CW are safe (minus CW’s Life Sentence and Valour, which were both just cut).

Ta-Nehisi Coates on Kanye West is the one thing you need to read this week if you haven’t already.

-There have been some very, very good takes about what went down at FanCon. Today’s Vulture piece, which failed to interview the BGN writers who quit or the vendors affected, is not one of them.

-Ryan Reynolds using Canada to promote Deadpool 2 in Europe is a good time.

Cher is a scene-stealer in the new Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again trailer.

Rihanna Talks About Her Relationship with Drake In Vogue

-The Ocean’s 8 cast continues to dominate magazine covers. Today, it’s Rihanna‘s turn. She hooked the big one: Vogue. She talked about turning 30 (“Okay, so now that I’m 30, are there things I’m supposed to do? Should I be worried? Should I be freezing my eggs? What do you do at 30?!”) and her status with Drake (“We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is”).

-In less happy Vogue news, Gigi Hadid is being accused of blackface for her Vogue Italia cover. She has since apologized.

-There’s a new show on Netflix that is a post-apocalyptic teen jam that seems like a CW show, but it’s Danish? Sign me up!

Celine Dion dances with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in the new “Ashes” music video and it might be the best thing this country has ever produced!

-Jezebel continues to endorse Chris Pine for the top Chris of the famous Chrises and I wholeheartedly approve.

Zoe Saldana delivered a heartfelt and emotional speech as she got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which Mila Kunis attended.

-During a game of ‘never have I ever’ on Ellen, Justin Timberlake revealed that he had (okay, hadn’t not) hooked up with a Spice Girl. Looks like it was Emma.

-Avengers: Infinity War has now topped $850M at the global box office as it speeds towards a $1B record. This is nuts.

Catherine Zeta-Jones will star in Facebook Watch’s new series Queen America.

-In other big names coming to streaming, Jay Z is set to produce new 6-part docu-series about Meek Mill’s legal issues for Amazon.

-Congrats to 90210 star Shanae Grimes, who’s expecting her first kidlet.

Christina Aguilera dropped her new music video for Accelerate, her first single in 6 years.

-I love this look Keri Russell’s tremendous performance in The Americans. She’s always good, but this final season is next level.

-Here’s the first trailer for The Yellow Birds starring Alden Ehrenreich, Tye Sheridan and Jennifer Aniston.

-This trailer for Robin Hood movie seems to be a ripoff of CW’s Arrow.  Sorry Taron Egerton, but you’re no Stephen Amell.

Sandra Bullock and Her Ocean’s 8 Crew Kick Off Promo Blitz

-The best part about Ocean’s 8 is that we get the cast doing lots of press, including Sandra Bullock, who is usually pretty private. In her new In Style cover story, she talks about getting Ocean’s advice from George Clooney, laughing at Sarah Paulson try to sing like Rihanna on the set, and why she wants to ban the term “adopted children”: “Let’s all just refer to these kids as ‘our kids.’ Don’t say, ‘my adopted child.’ No one calls their kid their ‘IVF child’ or their ‘Oh, shit, I went to a bar and got knocked up child.’ Let’s just say, ‘our children.'”

-We also get a Variety cover with Cate Blanchett, who talks about inclusion riders, Woody Allen, and fighting for pay equity. She also seems to suggest Harvey Weinstein harassed her, too.

-In other Ocean’s 8 covers, Mindy Kaling looks stunning on Elle India.

Elsa Pataky says she doesn’t know how she and Chris Hemsworthsurvived as a couple‘ after he became famous. I don’t know how anyone famous does.

Ellen DeGeneres apologized to Jenna Dewan for introducing her as ‘Tatum’ on her show.

-The Good Fight has been renewed for a third season. Now that Canada has CBS All Access, I’m wondering how long we’ll get to have that show on a regular TV network before they move it to the app here. With the exception of a very silly subplot about microsdosing, this current season has been incredible. I’m still not subscribing to yet another service for it, though.

-This tweet from Neflix about Lost In Space’s fandom made me LOL.

Katie Couric defended Matt Lauer on Wendy Williams, saying “a lot of stuff gets misreported and blown out of proportion.” When asked about the button on his desk, she said “I don’t know what was happening, but a lot of NBC executives had those buttons that opened and closed doors. It was really just a privacy thing.”

-Meanwhile, female NBC staffers reportedly felt pressured to sign letter defending Tom Brokaw. A third woman has accused him of sexual misconduct.

-Apple gave a 10-episode series order to Are You Sleeping, a drama about a true crime podcast that stars Octavia Spencer and is produced by Reese Witherspoon.

Lauryn Hill doesn’t seem super happy that Drake sampled her on “Nice for What.”

-It looks like the core cast of Suits  (Gabriel Macht, Patrick Adams, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres) made the cut when it came to royal wedding invitations, as well as Victoria and David Beckham, Ben and Jessica Mulroney, Priyanka Chopra and Serena Williams.

Brad Pitt‘s depressing weatherman returned to The Jim Jefferies Show.

-It sounds like the next season of Arrested Development will drop very soon.

-I’m having a really weird, emotional day because this video of Ariana Grande surprising fans with Jimmy Fallon made me tear up.  A producer later tweeted that even though they had enough footage, she insisted that all the fans who came got a surprise, so they kept filming for another 45 minutes.

-I thought the latest season of UnREAL was way better than the last one, but still not good enough to keep me tuning in. But that was before I realized that the next season is making Rachel the suitress! I’m so back!
