-Yass, queen! Olivia Colman is promoting her regal turn on Netflix’s The Crown with a Vogue cover spread, and the interview is wonderful. (“Over the years, pounds have gone on, and my body has changed; I’ve had children. If someone doesn’t like me because of the size of my bum, they can f**k off. Because I’m quite a nice person to be with, actually.”) Her 73 Questions video is also as delightful as you’d expect.

-In a new interview with Hello!, Angelina Jolie says she has a new perspective on motherhood now that her kids are older: “When your children are little you feel more ‘mommy’. When they are teenagers you start to remember yourself as a teenager. You see them going to punk clubs and you wonder why you can’t go. I’m in this fun moment where I’m rediscovering myself.”

-Meanwhile, at his university in South Korea, Maddox was approached by paparazzi and asked about whether dad Brad Pitt planned to visit him at school. “I don’t know about that, what’s happening. Whatever happens, happens.”

–Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Garner is the wholesome Hollywood friendship that the world needs right now.

-Also, Kelly kicks off every episode by doing a cover, and her version of “Bad Romance” is a good time.

–Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey are launching a podcast about The Office for all your nostalgia needs.

–Drake texted Bianca Andreescu after she mentioned him in a press conference — and she then read his texts to the media. I love her so hard.

-A bunch of celebrities made a video to thank Gary Sinise for his charity work with veterans and his reaction is so sweet.

-People are loving how Rihanna staged her lingerie fashion show at NYFW.

–Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, the New York Times reporters who exposed Harvey Weinstein‘s alleged sexual misconduct, say “Gwyneth Paltrow was actually one of the first people to get on the phone … she was determined to help this investigation.”

-I’m bummed that Kathryn Hahn‘s new HBO limited series (which debuted at TIFF) isn’t getting great reviews. But very happy that Rosario Dawson‘s Briarpatch (which also screened 2 episodes at TIFF) is going over better.

-Last night’s TIFF audiences gave Renée Zellweger a rapturous, two-minute standing ovation at the screening of the Judy Garland biopic Judy.

-Speaking of movies that sparked with the TIFF crowd, Hustlers is predicted to open big this weekend.

–Joaquin Phoenix stormed off the Joker set a lot, according to the director. What is it with actors being jerks on Batman-y sets (Christian Bale, Jared Leto, Phoenix)? And the irony that this happens on a movie which critics say is about toxic masculinity is really something…

-I agree with this piece on how this might be the best fall TV season in years. There are at least three new network shows that I’m going to give a chance (Stumptown, Emergence and Nancy Drew) — which is three more than last year.

-I’ve never seen Downton Abbey, but critics are digging the movie.

-This article on influencer Caroline Calloway from her former friend/ghostwriter has the internet buzzing.

–Imogen Poots is stalked by a stranger during their Christmas break in the Black Christmas trailer.

–Kim Kardashian covers Vogue Arabia, in which she pushes back on the criticism she’s received for pursuing a law degree.  (“There is a misconception that I don’t actually have to study and that I’ve bought my way into getting a law degree – that’s absolutely not true. Being underestimated and over-delivering is my vibe.”)

-If you missed last night’s VMAs, here’s a red carpet recap. And the performance you have to check out is Normani’s Motivation. Twitter LIT UP when she was on. She’s gonna be huge.

-I love that Missy Elliott brought out Alyson Stoner (the little girl from the “Work It” video) to recreate her dance routine last night.

–January Jones commenting about fellow Mad Men alum Alison Brie’s boobs at the VMAs is a good time.

–Justin Theroux went wakeboarding with his The Leftovers costar Ann Dowd and I’m living for it.

-A Bachelor in Paradise contestant didn’t get the memo that the food at their date was just a prop for show only. He still attempted to choke it down, despite his companion’s repeated warnings. “When we get back to the beach and I tell everyone you ate the date food, they’re gonna give you shit. You’re not supposed to eat the date food! I’m trying to help you.”

–Kanye West and Kim Kardashian ate at a Cheesecake Factory two nights in a row and I’ve never related to them more.

-SNL has lost Leslie Jones, which sucks.

-Everyone was making fun of this headline about Eva Longoria directing a Flamin’ Hot Cheetos movie, but the film is actually the story of Richard Montañez, a janitor working for Frito Lay who revitalized the company by inventing the new flavour.

-The owner of Taylor Swift‘s real-life “Cornelia Street” apartment had no idea who she was when he rented it to her. “She walked in, and I’ll never forget this — she said, ‘Oooh, it’s so crafty.’ And in Taylor-speak, that means ‘I like everything.’ She asked if she could rent not just the house but my style as well. So towels and dishes and glassware and furniture and just kind of ‘Take your clothes and go.’ So I did. She was an absolute delight to deal with.”

-In his new Netflix special, Dave Chappelle calls Michael Jackson rape accusers liars, defends Louis C.K. and Kevin Hart, and ridicules trans people. Gross.

–Francis Capra (who plays Weevil on Veronica Mars) retweeted this sexist shit and I just can’t.

-On the other end of the spectrum we have Harry Styles, who embraces his female fandom instead of ridiculing it. He says in his new Rolling Stone cover story: “They’re the most honest — especially if you’re talking about teenage girls, but older as well. They have that bullsh-t detector. You want honest people as your audience. We’re so past that dumb outdated narrative of ‘Oh, these people are girls, so they don’t know what they’re talking about.’ They’re the ones who know what they’re talking about. They’re the people who listen obsessively. They f-cking own this sh-t. They’re running it.”

-This fall books preview reminded me that Rainbow Rowell has a sequel to Carry On coming out next month and I cannot wait!

-I am very interested in the new Briarpatch series, mostly because it stars Rosario Dawson and was created by one of my favourite TV critics. The trailer has me hopeful.

-Speaking of shows produced by Sam Esmail, here’s the trailer for Mr Robot’s final season.

-The new trailer for Dickinson, the upcoming Apple+ show in which Hailee Steinfeld plays poet Emily Dickinson, is very confusing. Is she…twerking??

–Timothée Chalamet is a reluctant ruler in the trailer for period piece The King, accompanied by Robert Pattinson in an equally regrettable wig.

Vanity Fair’s Hollywood Issue Wows Us

-There’s so much I love about Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood cover. The majority of actors featured are POC! It was shot by someone other than Annie Leibovitz! The ladies are fully clothed! Regina King looks amazing! It features Elizabeth Debicki — who should be getting wayyyy more buzz for her stunning turn in Widows! I probably would have switched out Nicholas Hoult for Brian Tyree Henry, who might have had the best year of anyone in Hollywood, but this is still pretty great.

-Millennium Films put out a statement confirming that Bryan Singer is going to keep his $10M Red Sonya directing gig even after yesterday’s exposé. The film will adapt a comic book character who becomes a great swordsperson after a group of mercenaries kill her family and their leader rapes her. And Singer’s the guy who gets to tell that story. So that’s just effing great.

–David Tennant is launching his own podcast next week and his first guest will be his former Broadchurch costar and current Oscar nom Olivia Colman. Get in my ear holes!!

–Jeff Bridges is teasing that his Big Lebowski character will return on Feb 3 — in a Super Bowl commercial.

-I can’t stop staring at this image that Julianne Moore posted on Instagram. Stun-ning!

-This interview with Catharine O’Hara is a total delight.

–George Clooney responded to The Guardian’s op-ed that questioned his loyalty in helping Sudan with his own article.

–Priyanka Chopra is back from her honeymoon and proving that being married hasn’t stopped her from pulling off bad jeans.

-Is it weird to get turned on by a promo image for a play?

-Only “Shallow” from A Star Is Born and “All the Stars” from Black Panther will be performed at the Oscars. The nominated songs from Mary Poppins, RBG or Buster Scruggs won’t make the cut.

-I’m pretty pumped for USA’s new Briarpatch show starring Rosario Dawson, which was written by one of my fave podcasters.

-The CW is sticking with what it knows. They just ordered spinoffs of Jane the Virgin and Riverdale.

-Everyone’s talking about the batshit ending of Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway‘s new movie Serenity so I went ahead and spoiled myself. Worth it.

-Go, Anna Wintour!

-I’m pretty much all the way out on the Handmaid’s Tale at this point, but Christopher Meloni and Elizabeth Reaser are both good gets.

-The trailer for The Umbrella Academy, Netflix’s new show starring Ellen Page, looks like an American version of Misfits and I’m kind of here of it. They even cast Nathan!
