Chris Evans Decks His Dog in Knives Out Sweater

–Chris Evans’ Christmas tweet won the internet this week.

-Actress Janina Gavankar says she took Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s adorable holiday photo — and slammed the Daily Mail for photoshopping it.

–Drake went on a podcast and didn’t hold back. He talked about why he waited so long to confirm the existence of his son (“To be honest with you, I did a DNA test for my son and it came back to us and it said the DNA test got ruined in transit and they couldn’t be 100 percent sure that that was my son or not. I was in a really weird pending situation where I didn’t want to go tell the world that that was my son and it wasn’t”), and says he had a “moment of hesitation” about collaborating with Chris Brown because he didn’t want Rihanna to “feel disrespected.”

-He also dropped a new single on Christmas Eve.

–Rachel Bilson and Bill Hader were spotted spending the holidays together — and I kind of love it! Surprised that he’s only two years older than her, too.

-Speaking of romantic Christmases, Taylor Swift spent the holidays with Joe Alwyn in England.

-Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey is having a not great holiday week after she was sued by her former nanny, who claims the singer fired her in retaliation for complaining about pay and hours.

–Evan Rachel Wood really, really hated Cats. She’s not the only one — it’s only grossed $15 million in its first 6 days, despite costing $90M+.

-I haven’t seen it yet but is this an actual clip from the movie? Because HOLY. SHIT.  (Also, I love reading all the bemused tweets about the film from people who work in vfx.)

-The film was so rushed that director Tom Hopper was still editing it on the afternoon of the premiere — and it shows. The studio is rushing a new cut to theatres, presumably one in which Judi Dench’s human hands/wedding ring aren’t visible.

-Not surprisingly, the studio has pulled the film from awards contention.

-Also, remember the Sony leak when Hopper kept emailing Amy Pascal and she kept making excuses about why he couldn’t direct her movies because she thinks he’s “a staggering asshole.”

–Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth finalized their divorce this week.

–Kumail Nanjiani‘s trainer talked about the intense workouts/diets he undertook to gain those muscles for his new Marvel movie, and it all sounds miserable.

–Jake Gyllenhaal is in John Mulaney‘s new children’s special on Netflix and if this clip is any indication, he gives an awesome unhinged performance.

–Kevin Spacey is back at it. He posted yet another bizarre holiday video as his House of Cards character.

-Meanwhile, another Spacey accuser has died of apparent suicide.

-Director Edgar Wright made a Spotify playlist of his 50 favourite songs of the year and it’s pretty great.

-I will never get tired of watching Oscar Isaac using interviews to push for a Finn & Poe romance.

-The showrunner of The Affair, Sarah Treem, wrote an essay to defend her side, but by saying that she worked for years trying to make Ruth Wilson more comfortable on set, she basically admits that Ruth Wilson spent years being uncomfortable on her set.

-I’m surprised people are debating the ending of Little Women. The person in question definitely gets married.

-The cast of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina seem to have fun together.

-Now Pierce Brosnan is praising Trump? Ugh.

–Taffy Brodesser-Akner‘s essay on Luke Perry is a lovely read.

–Cardi B showed off her new house on Instagram and it is ginormous.

Kit Harington Comes To Terms With Game of Thrones’ Ending

-In his Variety cover story, Kit Harington talks about the finale season of Game of Thrones (“Balls out, I think is the term. [HBO] could have easily set the same budget as they did for season 7, but they went bigger”), his infamous Jon Snow haircut, and how emotional he and his castmates got on their final day of shooting (“I saw [Peter Dinklage] just break down”).

–Kate Beckinsale and Pete Davidson are still going strong. Somehow.

–Nina Dobrev gets her groove back in Shawn Mendes’ new video.

-After a few months of increasingly disturbing reports, Wendy Williams revealed that she’s been living in a sober house: “You know I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in my past. And I never went to a place to get the treatment.”

-We have another bad Once Upon A Time In Hollywood poster, this one featuring Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate.

–Taron Egerton says he and Richard Madden got “blind drunk” before their Carpool Karaoke segment.

-Just when I thought I couldn’t get more excited about Hustlers, the Constance Wu/Jennifer Lopez movie about former strip club employees who take down their Wall Street clients, Cardi B just joined the cast! It also stars Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles, Mercedes Ruehl and Trace Lysette.

–Jason Sudeikis allowed Ellen Degeneres and his wife Olivia Wilde to cut his hair on TV. He shouldn’t have.

-Jesus. After Netflix cancelled One Day at a Time, Sony TV immediately started to shop it around and was approached by CBS All Access — but a clause in Netflix’s contract prevents the show from moving to another streaming service. So not only did they cancel it while at the same time talking about the need for diverse storytelling, they also made it more difficult for the show to live on. Stuff like that, and this article on Netflix’s monoculture machine, have me worried.

-Also, this is fascinating: the under 34 crowd now watch nearly 50% less TV than in 2010.

-In a show of support for the writers guild, The Wire creator David Simon blasted the practice of agency packaging.

-I haven’t watched Catastrophe’s new season yet, but by all accounts the Carrie Fisher episode is going to kill me.

-CW’s Jane the Virgin spinoff, Jane the Novela, will be an anthology series in which each season is based on a different fictional novel “written by” Jane and narrated by the author herself.

-I can’t even look at these pictures of Lupita Nyong’o. Those eyes! Why???

–Rachel Bilson is returning to her Fox roots in a new show called Lovestruck.

-David Boreanaz is hinting at an Angel reunion … and I don’t hate it?

-Um, that’s fanfic. This famous author is just writing fanfic.

Riverdale’s KJ Apa Gets In Accident After 16-Hour Day on Set

-Warner Bros. Television is doing damage control after Riverdale star KJ Apa got into a car accident in Vancouver while driving himself home following a 16-hour workday.

-Looks like the rumours of a split from Hayden Christensen may be true. Rachel Bilson was spotted in LA without her wedding ring. That sucks; I like them both.

-The Foo Fighters edition of Carpool Karaoke is a headbanging good time.

–Jordan Peele is developing a new TV show based on true events that follows a group who hunted down hundreds of Nazis who managed to escape punishment and settle into American society. See HBO, this is how you tackle historical entertainment.

–Gal Gadot, Kumail Nanjiani and Ryan Gosling are all slated to host SNL this season.

-The families of two men who died on the set of American Made are claiming that Tom Cruise is partially to blame.

-I don’t watch Rick and Morty (I know, I know) but it’s awesome that the creator is slamming trolls attacking their female writers.

-“I’m a target in a way most entrepreneurs are not,” says Gwyneth Paltrow in a new interview about GOOP.  Well to be fair, most entrepreneurs aren’t telling us to steam our vaginas…

-Also, here’s photos of her GOOP lab in LA, which the author describes as “equal parts ridic and chic as f*ck”.

–Dylan McDermott and Dermot Mulroney are going to star in a TV show together and my head just exploded.

-One of the least wave-making late night hosts has gone political. Jimmy Kimmel is taking on health care in his monologues, and he won’t back down until the repeal & replace act is dead, saying “I did more homework this week than all my years of college combined.”

–Carey Mulligan wrote an essay about her grandmother’s life with Alzheimer’s and did it suddenly get really dusty in here?

-After seeing Brad’s Status at TIFF, I’ve vowed not to watch anymore introspective Ben Stiller movies, so I’m gonna go ahead and pass on this.  Emma Thompson as a drunk hippie is tempting, though.
