The Search for Naya Rivera Ends in Tragedy

-Awful, awful news: Divers searching the lake Naya Rivera where was reported missing recovered a body around 9:30 a.m. this morning, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. They’ve since confirmed it is the actress, and have ruled out foul play. In the press conference, the sheriff said “her son described being helped onto the boat by Naya. … He told investigators he looked back and saw her disappear under the surface of the water…We believe that she mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat, but not enough to save herself.”

-Oh god. As if this couldn’t get more tragic, today is the 7th anniversary of Cory Monteith’s passing.

-Speaking of tragic, Kelly Preston died yesterday at 57 following a two-year battle with breast cancer, her husband John Travolta announced. “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many,” he said in an Instagram post.

–Lisa Marie Presley and her family are in mourning after the sudden and tragic death of her 27-year-old son, who died this weekend from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

-In response to the Daily Mail’s report that Jessica Mulroney is having trouble patching up her friendship with Meghan Markle and is considering writing a book about her, Ben Mulroney tweeted “FALSE.” No word if he was referring to their friendship’s status, the book, or both.

–Victoria and David Beckham‘s son Brooklyn is engaged to Nicola Peltz.

-One of my favourite new celeb couples is already over: Bill Hader and Rachel Bilson have split.

-Speaking of splits, Darius Rucker, Hootie & the Blowfish singer-turned-country-star, and Beth Leonard are over after 20 years of marriage.

–John Legend tweeted some truth today: “Reporters always ask me if more artists should speak out about politics. I always say ummmmmm not necessarily. It ain’t for everybody. Justin Bieber Still Thinks He Could Beat Up Tom Cruise

-Over the summer, Justin Bieber called out Tom Cruise on Twitter and challenged him to a fight. On Carpool Karaoke, James Corden asked him about it. “I don’t know. I was just being stupid, to be honest…but then people were like, ‘Yeah I want to see this happen.’ Then I was like, ‘You know what? That could actually be funny.'” Fair enough — but then Bieber reiterated that he thinks he would beat Cruise. “There’s absolutely no way [I’d lose]. He’s not the guy you see in movies…that’s a character…I’m dangerous, plus my agility is insane. I’m insane. I don’t think you understand the mind control that I have.”

-Last night’s Brit Awards delivered some underwhelming fashion choices, but I like how both Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner opted for neons. Styles also wore a black ribbon on his lapel intended to pay tribute to his former girlfriend Caroline Flack.

-Rapper Dave is getting lots of buzz for this performance at the Brit awards, in which he called Boris Johnson a racist and rebuked the media over their treatment of Meghan Markle.

-Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s royal duties will officially end on March 31.

-Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown turned 16 and marked the day with an Instagram video highlighting headlines about her. She added in the caption “there are moments i get frustrated from the inaccuracy, inappropriate comments, sexualization, and unnecessary insults that ultimately have resulted in pain and insecurity for me. but not ever will i be defeated.”

Bill Hader and Rachel Bilson Are a Golden Couple

–Bill Hader and Rachel Bilson confirmed they’re dating by walking the Golden Globes red carpet together. I know their relationship is still very new but I think I would die for them?

-In case you missed it, here’s Michelle Williams‘ excellent Globes acceptance speech, in which she advocates for abortion access.

-I know the Globes are ridiculous and tend to reward the stars who wined and dined the voters (hello, Taron Egerton!) but don’t discount how 1917’s big win positions it in the Oscar race. The Academy’s voting window is incredibly tight this year (only one week — the shortest ever) and closes tomorrow night. Voters who hadn’t yet watched their 1917 screener might feel the need to now after its big Globes boost.

-A year after she was spotted at a Globes after-party with Pete Davidson, Kate Beckinsale appeared to leave an after-party with Machine Gun Kelly last night. Gah, I love her so hard.

-InStyle’s after-party elevator videos are a hoot.

-My fave after-party shots: this Friday Night Lights reunion, the pic of Taylor Swift hanging off Hot Priest, and Joey King revealing the aftermath of Patricia Arquette accidentally hitting her in the head with her Golden Globe.

–Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse‘s camps insist they are doing just fine despite the fact that he was seen leaving a Globes after-party with Lily-Rose Depp.

–Brad and Leo were on Marc Maron’s podcast, where Brad talked about how people are obsessed with his personal life. (“I’m just like trash mag fodder. I don’t know. Because of my disaster of a personal life, probably.”) I dunno. I think we could probably be talking more about how he was only allowed supervised visits with his kids for like, three years.

–The trailer is equally confusing (although “How can we really milk the shit out of this?” is the truest thing Gwyeneth has ever said in relation to Goop).
