Bradley Cooper, The Reluctant Superstar

-This first look at Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers is the soothing balm the world needed today.

-Speaking of things we could all use after today’s news cycle, The Good Place is back tonight! NBC released the first four eps to critics and the reviews are pretty forking glowing. (Here’s a refresher if you don’t remember how last season ended.)

-The week of surprise baby news continues! Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan reportedly welcomed their first child in August.

–Robert Pattinson and Mia Goth are currently promoting a movie together. Their ex-significant others (FKA twigs and Shia LaBeouf) are now dating. This isn’t awkward at all.

–George Clooney looks really different in this photo. I don’t like it.

-Single Parents (which I really liked) and A Million Little Things (which I really didn’t) premiered to so-so ratings.

–Kanye West is reportedly preparing to drop his third(!) full-length album of the year this weekend.

–Awkwafina and Seth Meyers will host SNL next month.

–Jameela Jamil explained her issues with the body positivity movement which is great — except she may have lifted her quotes from someone she was DMing with. (She’s since credited them.)

-In a new interview, Leah Remini talks about her ongoing fight against Scientology and adds, “I keep wondering – why haven’t Katie Holmes or Nicole Kidman spoken out? I assume they were forced to sign prohibitive documents…Trust me, Katie’s not allowed to have a meal with me, and we used to be close friends. She could lose custody of Suri. It’s quite sick, really.”

-Here’s the Dark Phoenix trailer starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, and Sophie Turner. This feels like the type of movie that might be OK if you just consider it divorced from the rest of the X-Men films.

 

Natalie Portman & Michelle Williams Remember Being Child Actors

-The excellent Actors on Actors clips continue to roll out, with Viola Davis and Tom Hanks talking about acting in stage vs. film, and Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams discussing playing famous historic women and being child actors.

–Mariah Carey‘s new reality series is actually getting good reviews(!), with critics saying it has a “surprising sense of humor and humility.” What?!

–Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, Uma Thurman and Robin Wright appear unretouched for the 2017 Pirelli Calendar, and their photos are stunning. Said Moore,  “I walk in, no makeup on and wet hair. [The photographer] said, ‘No, no, no, you are perfect.'”

-I love Gilmore Girls’ Matt Czuchry low-key shading about how the revival did his character dirty. My favourite soundbite (of many): “I think Amy and Dan see Logan as Christopher from a story perspective. For me as an actor, that’s not something actionable that I can play.”

–Alexis Bledel was on Fallon last night, where she ranked her favourite characters and defended her ability to hold everyday objects.

-I wholeheartedly agree with this article on how Rory Gilmore proves we need better fictional journalists.

–Leah Remini has been a vocal critic of Scientology since leaving the “church,” but she’s learned not to criticize Tom Cruise. She also revealed that Cruise pressured 60 Minutes to kill a piece on Scientology.

–Tom Hanks finally cleared up that confusing Bill Murray look-alike photo.

-With everything that’s happening to Kanye West, GQ wonders if Jay Z is a bad friend.

-Even Lin-Manuel Miranda can’t convince me that developing movies and TV shows simultaneously is a good idea.

-I love that Questlove just randomly makes a cameo during Lin‘s Drunk History ep (which airs tonight).

-Meanwhile, Hamilton hit a new record buy grossing the most amount of money in a week for Broadway. Great boycott, guys.

-Super Girl hits a new ratings high last night (for their CW run), but that was probably only because it was promoted as the start of the 4-show crossover, which only happened in the last 40 seconds of the episode. My Twitter TL was pressed.

–Adam Driver‘s Interview chat with director Noah Baumbach is great, but the Trainspotting-inspired photo shoot that accompanies it is terrifying.

–Ben McKenzie is engaged to his baby mama and Gotham costar Morena Baccarin.

-Don’t feel bad for Brad Pitt not being able to spend Thanksgiving with his kids. He did just fine.

–Anthony Rapp being cast in the new Star Trek series is such a delightful surprise!

–Tilda Swinton is criticizing the Harry Potter franchise for romanticizing “cruel” boarding schools. That seems like a totally relatable and down-to-earth hill to die on.

–Reese Witherspoon proves she’s the queen of trolling by selling a “Wreath Witherspoon” dress.

-Another big sign that the TV industry is changing (and not for the best): executives from the big four networks and Amazon are skipping this year’s TCA press tour. Cowards.

-Female Walking Dead fans are freaking out Jeffrey Dean Morgan  with their weird ass requests.

–Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt get shirtless and sexy in the new Passengers trailer.

-I didn’t see this one coming, but I really liked the trailer for Lifetime’s Beaches remake. I know!!

Lady Gaga Kills It on Carpool Karaoke

-Like her or not, Lady Gaga just delivered one of the best Carpool Karaoke editions yet, vocal-wise. Also, I never want to drive with her.

–Angelina Jolie and some of her kids reportedly spoke to the FBI for four hours about Brad Pitt’s plane incident.

-There are new reports that Tom Cruise is getting “serious” with his girlfriend of several months, which has absolutely nothing to do with his new movie now in theatres.

–Bruno Mars said Adele was a “diva” when he worked with her but he insists he meant it as a compliment because he clearly doesn’t know how words work.

-The internet can’t tell if this photo is of Tom Hanks or Bill Murray. It’s Murray. The internet is dumb.

-Meanwhile, Tom Hanks wants to do love scenes with Channing Tatum. Tom Hanks is all of us.

-More details have emerged about that Tim Miller/Ryan Reynolds rift that saw the director leave Deadpool 2. One of the issues was that Miller reportedly wanted to cast Kyle Chandler, and Reynolds was against it. Who the hell says no to Kyle Chandler?!

-Meanwhile, Taylor Swift made Ryan Reynolds‘ birthday message all about her. Of course she did.

-There’s a new short debuting tomorrow on YouTube that stars Tom Cavanagh, Josh Dallas and Emily Bett Rickards. I like all of those people!

-Sadness: director Len Wiseman has filed from divorce from Kate Beckinsale after 12 years of marriage.

-Try to read this Patton Oswalt interview about his late wife and not cry. Actually, don’t even try. It’s not even physically possible.

-Here’s the first extended trailer for the latest 24 reboot. I don’t know how this will be without the Kief, but the last limited reboot of this series was way better than I expected it to be.

-The CW has bought yet another drama from Greg Berlanti. Does that man not sleep?!

–Chloë Grace Moretz set up her pal Meghan Trainer with one of their friends, and now they’re in luvvv.

–Amy Schumer‘s “Formation” spoof is getting a lot of flack, so she responded by posting a topless photo. Um, ok?

–Jay Z is reportedly willing to drop big bucks on the rights to Prince’s unreleased music.

-Sausage Party is launching a big Oscar campaign? Really?!

–Shia LaBeouf comes home from war in the new Man Down trailer. Sadly, the rattail does not seem to make an appearance.
