Sandra Oh Stuns in Elle Canada

-I have fallen behind on Killing Eve because I just can’t seem to bring myself to watch much drama these days, but I’m going to revisit it eventually because Sandra Oh is perfection — even in KE seasons that aren’t. She looks stunning in her Elle Canada spread (though I wish they’d used one of the inner photos for the cover instead of the one they picked, mostly because Gugu Mbatha-Raw just wore the same top on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar.)

Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy (the pair responsible for one of the most iconic photos on the internet) have split after 5 years of marriage — and the pandemic is make it extra messy. Olsen filed an emergency order, claiming in court documents she attempted to file for divorce on April 17, but was unable to do so because of the ongoing pandemic. She alleges he terminated the lease on their NYC apartment without her knowledge and the only way to prevent him from getting rid of her belongings is to file for divorce.

Demi Moore invited ex Bruce Willis and wife Emma Heming Willis and their two daughters to join her new family portrait session. I wonder if this was to squash the talk that surfaced after Willis recently self-isolated with her instead of his wife and young kids?

Reese Witherspoon just signed on to star in not one, but two Netflix romcoms and I’m here for it.

-Eek. Ellen Pompeo is usually pretty woke but this video that’s been circulating today is a bad look.

Halle Berry says she nearly died on the set of 2002’s Die Another Day. “I am supposed to be trying to be all sexy with a fig — and then I end up choking on it. And [Pierce Brosnan] had to get up and do the Heimlich. So not sexy, so not sexy. He was there for me, and he will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world.”

-I’m pretty done with Star Wars IP for awhile, but good on Russian Doll’s Leslye Headland for developing a SW series at Disney Plus.

-I haven’t loved Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere, mostly because the characters in the book were very understated which made their systemic white privilege so insidious whereas in the show Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington are chewing through scenery like every line will be part of their Emmy reel. But the finale (which veers widely from the book’s ending) was quite affecting.

-The end of Empire — which was forced to wrap up two episodes earlier than planned when the pandemic shut down production — did well in the ratings. Meanwhile, Taraji P. Henson told EW: “As an artist, to not be able to finish something that you started, that hurts me. I feel incomplete. I don’t ever start something and don’t complete it. And so, for me, it’s deep; I have to finish, or this will haunt me for the rest of my life and career.”

-I can’t imagine how annoying it is to be famous and have people hassle you when you’re out at a bar. On the other hand, I can’t imagine responding to said people by choking them. Ezra Miller is in hot water after video surfaced this weekend of him appearing to choke a female fan. This is not the type of scandal you want to get caught in when your character is gearing up to headline their own DC superhero movie.

Louis C.K. downplays his sexual misconduct in his controversial new special. One of his new gems: “Men are taught to make sure the woman is okay. The thing is, women know how to seem okay when they’re not okay.” Oh yes, it’s clearly women’s fault for not spelling out how they felt about you masturbating in front of them without their consent.
