-This is a straight-up day-maker: Schitt’s Creek star Annie Murphy recreated her character’s iconic song “A Little Bit Alexis”on Kelly Clarkson‘s show, with the host adding a verse as the befuddled stars of 1917 looked on. (Also, I had no clue Murphy is married to the lead singer of Hollerado.)

-This is an interesting look at why this awards season, more events have been closed to press and stars have been scarce with red carpet sound bites.

Jessica Simpson says she once kissed Justin Timberlake, but the timelines are very wonky considering both of relationship statuses at the time.

-A ton of Super Bowl commercials are already out: Bryan Cranston and Tracee Ellis Ross recreate The Shining for Mountain Dew, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen shill for Genesis’s new SUV, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day and Schitt’s Creek’s Emily Hampshire go through their dirty laundry for TideEllen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi promote Alexa, and Jimmy Fallon and John Cena work out for Michelob Ultra.

-This is a fascinating read on Brad Pitt and how his looks and charm belie real creative talent. “Pitt has alternately rejected and embraced the dreamboat role, though he seems consistently game when asked to play that part in photo spreads; maybe because he knows it so well, he is also adept at sending it up.”

Charlie Hunnam is walking back those shitty comments he made about not wanting to marry his girlfriend.

-I can’t believe they made a movie about the most amazing viral Twitter thread about strippers. I also can’t wait to watch.

-Oh man. Sebastian Stan posted drama about the ending of Endgame on his Insta stories, and John Boyega tweeted about it. The both have negative f’s left to give.

James Corden said he needed therapy in 2009 after his fame in the UK went to his head: “I started to behave like a brat that I just don’t think I am. It’s so intoxicating, that first flush of fame, and I think it’s even more intoxicating if you’re not bred for it.” If blind items are to believed, he might need a little tune-up.

-The American Dirt controversy continues: the publisher just cancelled its book tour. My favourite line in their statement is “We should never have said that [the author]’s husband was an undocumented immigrant while not specifying that he was from Ireland.” And before anyone complains about cancel culture, the book just hit number 1 and the author has sold another novel.

-I really like this piece on The Good Place, BoJack Horseman, and the audacity of committing to decency.

Kelis says that Pharrell Williams cheated her out of money from her first two albums.

Lakeith Stanfield wants to play the Joker and god yes. This is literally the only way I’d be interesting in watching anything new about that character.

Greta Gerwig and Saoirse Ronan say they want to “be old ladies together making movies about old ladies.” And I want to be an old lady who watches them all.

Kendall Jenner learned a cheerleading routine from the kids from Cheer on Ellen.

Ben Platt, Nina Dobrev and Scott Speedman star in the trailer for Run This Town, the Rob Ford movie.

-Apple+ unveiled more info about it’s new TV shows. The streaming service will launch in Nov for $4.99/month (US) which is cheaper than most others. They also offered EW exclusive looks at their new shows, including The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, and a trailer for Jason Momoa‘s blind dystopia series.

Britney Spears has been granted a new conservator after her dad Jamie temporarily resigned — supposedly due to his health issues but this comes days after Britney’s ex Kevin Federline filed a temporary restraining order against Jamie for allegedly breaking into the room of their son Sean and shaking him.

-This costume designer interview about an unnamed “famous actor” is so juicy. “The actress comes into the fitting room, we try this suit on, and she looks at it and decides that she hates the suit because the pinstripe on the fabric is too wide. The pinstripe is making her look fat.”

Based on an original story by Millie Bobby Brown and her sister Paige, Netflix is developing A Time Lost: a film about a feud between two families that comes to a head when one daughter is diagnosed with cancer. Anyone else just hoping that Millie gets to nap soon?

-Is Meryl Streep pulling a Scarlett Johansson? In Netflix’s upcoming film The Laundromat, which debuted at TIFF last night, director Steven Soderbergh has Streep playing a second character in disguise near the end of the film: a Panamanian office drone “wearing prosthetics and putting on a thick pan-Latin accent.” That sounds…problematic.

-Well, this is good news: critics say Joker is too tame to be incel bait.

-Was Joaquin Phoenix referring to wife Rooney Mara in his TIFF speech when he said: “Somewhere here, I don’t know where, is a fervent dragon, and I want to rip its wings off, fashion a blanket and sleep with it forever. I love you. Thank you”?

Kim Kardashian continues to insist it didn’t occur to her that naming her shapewear line Kimono would be offensive.

-This oral history of Vampire Diaries is kind of fascinating — mostly because no one wanted Paul Wesley to play Stefan. Creator Julie Plec says “We were sort of pressured into casting Paul Wesley against our desires,” while Nina Dobrev remembers telling producers after her chemistry reads with potential costars: “I don’t know who I connected with the most but I definitely probably connected the least with that Paul Wesley guy.”

Jenny Slate is engaged to someone who is not Chris Evans.

Ewan McGregor is a now-adult Dan Torrence in the follow up to The Shining, Doctor Sleep.

Tessa Thompson Talks Times Up

Tessa Thompson Emma Thompson Men In Black

-In her Marie Claire cover, Tessa Thompson talks about living out everyone’s fantasy by having a spa day with Emma Thompson, and says #TimesUp “allowed me to say things I’m not sure I would have said a year ago. The truth is, the system where you assess international value is inherently sexist and racist because we haven’t had those opportunities. The only way to disrupt that is to create new models.” I love her so much, I can barely remember that she was once that kind of annoying character on Veronica Mars.

-Also, Tessa says Chris Hemsworth is “really sensitive” despite his fame and looks.

-Unfortunately, Tessa and Chris‘s new movie Men In Black isn’t getting great reviews.

-On a podcast with her former costars, Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev says she and Paul Wesleydespised each other” for the first half a season. Between this and the fact that her and Ian Somerhalder seemed to have negative chemistry after they broke up IRL, that set must have been a riot.

-What the hell is Drake doing??

-Welp. Jessica Biel is apparently lobbying California lawmakers alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has some questionable opinions about vaccine.

Miley Cyrus used her anniversary post to shut down split rumours. She’s also apologized for a 2017 comment about not liking hip-hop anymore. “‘This pushed me out of the hip hop scene a little’ was insensitive as it is a privilege to have the ability to dip in and out of ‘the scene.'”

-Did everyone else but me know that Mariska Hargitay has been married to the hot guy from Younger for 15 years?!?

Jon Stewart choked up while testifying during the hearing for reauthorizing the 9/11 victim compensation fund. “What an incredible metaphor this room is. … Behind me, a filled room of 9/11 first responders, and in front of me, a nearly empty Congress.”

Keanu Reeves had no idea he’s been the internet’s latest boyfriend. “I’ve been what? I didn’t know that…That’s wacky. The positivity is great. It’s really special how [Always Be My Maybe and John Wick 3] have been embraced.”

Ariana Grande did good.

-I don’t think we need another season of Russian Doll because the first was perfect, but I said that about Big Little Lies and Barry, so what do I know?

-So Bradley Cooper‘s camp seems to be pushing the “he was too busy being an auteur” angle in the break up stories which is…a choice.

-Oh god, this documentary on the late Anton Yelchin is going to be heartbreaking.
