–Rihanna on British Vogue is what the world needs right now. In the interview, she promises that she is “very aggressively working on new music,” says she gets anxiety before public appearances (“Oh, I’m nervous before even getting in the car to go to something. It can be devastating. And when I pull up to the red carpet, I’m like ‘Are you kidding me?’ I left the Grammys one time. Left! In the middle of my hair and make-up. My hair half up, half of my lash on”), and reveals she’s very involved in Fenty Beauty (“I write all of the copy for the websites, the product descriptions, product names, the colour names. I do have a huge team, but I just don’t necessarily think their tone is mine. I’d feel like a fraud selling something that I can’t stand by”).

-This is making so many people so happy right now: Christopher Meloni is bringing his Law & Order: SVU character back to television. The actor will return as Elliot Stabler in a new, yet untitled NBC series centered around his character that hails from L&O mastermind Dick Wolf.

-The best thing about all the late night hosts doing at-home shows is that now we can judge all of their houses.

-I don’t know why I’m surprised that Gwyneth Paltrow watched Tiger King, but here I am.

–Daniel Radcliffe and Erin Darke talk about being the first celebrities to get hit with a coronavirus hoax. They seems super sweet together.

-Speaking of sweet, The Star Trek: TNG cast had a video chat to celebrate Marina Sirtis’s birthday.

-Veronica Mars’ Ryan Hansen posted a video of him singing happy birthday for costar Jason Dohring. The best bit: “Feel free to comment below about how much you love Jason, happy birthday, all that stuff. If it’s about the show, email me. We can talk about it there. wedidnotwriteit@actor.com.” Man, that poor cast must have been bombarded with complaints after the final episode.

-I like this piece on how entertainment publicists are handling PR in the middle of a global crisis.

–Aisha Tyler just released a trailer for a comedy short she did with Stephen Amell.

-The kid who plays Mike on Stranger Things is stirring up gossip and I love it.

–Lindsay Lohan has declared she’s “back.” From what is unclear but…yay?

-I don’t know how the NYT is standing by its gushing article of the Internet Archive. Yes, it’s made more than a million books available free online. But it’s doing so by breaking copyright and not paying the authors. NPR also wrote a glowing article on it last week, which they ended up stepping back from after authors called out the site for piracy.

-I definitely agree with this take on how Annie Murphy will be Schitt’s Creek’s greatest legacy. The premise of her next show sounds great so I’m hoping for big things for her.

–Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys reading a children’s book is all kinds of cute.

-Here’s the trailer for Jennifer Lopez’s charitable new reality series on Quibi Thanks A Million, in which 10 celebs each give away $100k to deserving recipients.

-The one (only?) good thing about being stuck in our houses is that there are lots of new shows premiering in April with big stars, including Chris Evans, Cate Blanchett, Sophie Turner, Rashida Jones and Liam Hemsworth.

-Also premiering in April is Normal People, based on the Sally Rooney book that everyone seemed to fall in love with in 2018. Here’s the trailer:

Jennifer Aniston Talks Matt Lauer, Harvey Weinstein

–Jennifer Aniston covers Variety to promote her new Apple series The Morning Show, and talks about researching Matt Lauer before filming  (“It’s such a strange thing; it felt oddly like my dad did something terrible. I trusted him and had been interviewed by him. He was there for so many moments in my life. And when Friends was ending, it was Katie [Couric] and Matt interviewing us”), says that Harvey Weinstein knew not to bully her (“He knew better. I remember, right when [his ex-wife] Georgina’s clothing line Marchesa was starting. That’s when he came to visit me in London while we were shooting. He’d be like, ‘Ok, so I’d like you to wear one of these to the premiere.’ And I went through the book, and at the time, it wasn’t what it is today. It was not for me. He was like, ‘You have to wear the dress.’ That was my only bullying. And I was like, ‘No, I will not wear the dress'”), and explains why the Friends reunion hasn’t happened (“Because our producers wouldn’t want it, wouldn’t let us. Look, it’s not been without our desire to, because our fans have wanted it so much”).

–Ann Curry tweeted about Matt Lauer‘s accuser: “Brooke Nevils is a credible young woman of good character. She came to NBC News an eager and guileless 20-something, brimming with talent. I believe she is telling the truth. And that breaks my heart.”

-Meanwhile, Nevils has responded to his denial: “I am not afraid of him now, regardless of his threats, bullying, and the shaming and predatory tactics I knew he would (and now has) tried to use against me. The shame in this story belongs to him.”

-In Elle, Natalie Portman says she’s glad to have shaken off her “manic pixie dream girl” image from Garden State. “It’s definitely a relief to be out of the phase where you’re supposed to be adorable…It certainly is stifling to be the one who’s enacting someone else’s idea of how a young woman should behave.”

-Also in Elle, Zendaya opens up about her anxiety: “I already know after this interview is over, I’m going to spiral about it for weeks.”

–Drew Barrymore just landed a daytime talk show. I think she’ll be great at it, but with new shows from Kelly Clarkson, Keke Palmer and RuPaul the field is getting crowded.

-Ruh roh. Lindsay Lohan has reportedly been fired from The Masked Singer Australia.

-Now that we’re all pretty much over Chris Pratt, which famous Chris should take his place in the best Chris ranking?

-Do you remember how after Fresh Prince, Will Smith said that he and his manager sat down and studied the top 10 grossing movies of all time to determine their comment elements, and then set out to only make those? This article highlights how his most recent career moves have been just as methodical.

-Suicide Squad’s Jared Leto reportedly felt “alienated and upset” when Warner Bros. decided to move ahead with a solo Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix. So there might be something redeeming about Joker after all!

-Movie stars continue to jump to Apple’s upcoming streaming service. Clive Owen and Julianne Moore have signed on for a new series.

-Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh appeared on The Social this week and talked about DMing Rihanna.

–Robert Downey Jr. has asked not to be considered for an Oscar for Avengers: Endgame which is very nice but like, who told him he was being considered?

-I really like this piece on how Succession uses Shiv as a weapon. Everyone is so ruthless on this show that I think audiences automatically gravitate to the female characters like Gerri and Shiv for glimpses of humanity, and last week’s episode shattered that.

-Even though I’m about to get on an Air Canada flight and bracing myself for the worst (because it’s AC and they’re usually terrible), this commercial Sandra Oh did for them about how to travel like a Canadian is very cute. (Speaking of which I’m taking a few days off. Be back next week!)

–Tom Holland and Chris Pratt voice teenage brothers on a quest to meet their dad in the trailer for Pixar’s Onward.

Arrow Goes Back in Time

-The trailer for the shortened, final season of Arrow has hooked me. He’s sent back in time to relieve moments from the pilot episode? Yes, please.

-Meanwhile, the prospective Arrow spinoff seems like a bad idea. The girl who plays Mia is great, but does anyone want to watch a show featuring Laurel and Dinah? Anyone? Bueller? (Though assuming it’s set 20 years in the future, my guess is those two won’t be as big of a part of it as the next gen kids, and they’re just being used to promote it because the actresses are more established names.)

-Speaking of the Arrowverse, Smallville’s Micheal Rosenbaum explained why he turned down the CW crossover — and he doesn’t come off great. This thing is shrouded in secrecy; he couldn’t possibly have expected to see a script before signing on. And there are 10,000 guest stars in this thing alongside the main cast so what type of paycheck did he think he’d get? I saw this guy at a panel a few weeks ago and none of this surprises me.

-Yikes: Demi Moore says she discovered Ashton Kutcher was cheating on her from a Google Alert. (This is why I limit my Google Alerts to news about Idris Elba and videos of dogs being reunited with their owners…)

-Meanwhile, when asked about her current relationship with Kutcher in the wake of her book release, Moore said “It’s friendly. But we’re not…hanging out.”

–Miley Cyrus is single again. Us Weekly is reporting that she and Kaitlynn Carter are dunzo.

-Oh boy. Joaquin Phoenix was asked The Joker and its violence and he totally panicked because he said the thought hadn’t occurred to him. Boy needs some media training stat.

–Lindsay Lohan is a judge on The Masked Singer Australia and she actually seems to be doing a good job? Good for her.

–Phoebe Waller-Bridge has signed a big overall deal with Amazon Studios that is worth “around $20 million a year,” which she’s absolutely worth. I just hope they don’t try to pressure her to make more Fleabag because it ended perfectly.

–Zoë Kravitz‘s reaction to Beyoncé’s Lisa Bonet tribute was way cooler than mine would ever be.

-The next legacy show to spark a streaming bidding war will likely be Mad Men.

-Speaking of shows finding new life on streaming services, it’s Cougar Town’s 10 year anniversary and nothing would make me happier if a new generation discovered it through Netflix. Change approved!

-Happy Wayward Son release day! I just want to lock myself in my room and read for the next 13 hours. That’s totally normal, right?

-Are you watching Succession? Please watch Succession, which has somehow gotten even better in season 2. As this article points out, you start watching it thinking it’s about wealth but slowly realize that it’s really about abuse. It won a uprising Emmy for writing last weekend, but I’m guessing next year it’s going to sweep.

-Speaking of things you *must* watch immediately, have you seen Hustlers yet? I’m definitely going to go again soon. But until then, this making of video will have to do. (I also appreciate that in her YouTube description, JLo credits Constance Wu second.)

-The full Breaking Bad trailer has landed and oh god, I want this to be good so badly, but I’m still suffering reboot phobia from Veronica Mars.

-Uncut Gems blew people away at TIFF and everyone was talking about how Adam Sandler might get an Oscar nomination for it. The first trailer makes it clear why.
