Kate Middleton Has a Baby Boy

-The royal baby boy has arrived! I will never get over the protocol of having to pose for photos so quickly after the birth. This is Kate just SEVEN HOURS after delivery!

-But when it comes to birth announcements that made me teary, Dwayne Johnson won the day with this Instagram post. He welcomed his second daughter with girlfriend Lauren Hashian.

Sarah Jessica Parker is still trying to sell us on SATC’s happy set vibe. When asked by Vulture about any resolution with Kim Cattrall, she said “I’d just like to remind everybody that there is no catfight. I have never uttered an unkind, unsupportive, unfriendly word, so I would love to redefine it…no, there is no catfight, there never has been a catfight. I’ve never fought with someone publicly in my life, nor would I. And I spent time with all of the women on the set. People need to recall that it wasn’t just two women on the set fighting because that just never happened.”

-We still have to wait a few weeks for the royal wedding, but here’s a clip from Meghan Markle’s TV wedding. (I know the guy who plays the DJ!)

-Remember that TV Line blind item a couple of weeks ago about a TV drama that should be a sure bet for renewal, except the lead actor’s terrible behaviour was jeopardizing its chances? Turns out it’s about Lethal Weapon’s Clayne Crawford. A Deadline reporter says “I have learned that Crawford has had a history of bad behavior on the show, and that he has been disciplined several times over complaints of emotional abuse and creating a hostile environment. I hear the issue has escalated to a point where other actors as well as crew on Lethal Weapon would feel uncomfortable being on set with him.” TV Line reports that Fox is thinking of recast him — possibly with a woman.

-Speaking of bad behaviour in TV, Brad Kern is not only still running NCIS: NOLA, his contract is reportedly going to be renewed by CBS. All despite the fact he’s been investigated multiple times for HR violations, according to Variety. Swell!

-Jesus, Shania Twain really stepped in it this weekend with an interview in the Guardian in which she said she would have voted Trump because “he seemed honest.” She took to Twitter to retract/apologize but the damage was done.

Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington are submitting for leads instead of supporting at the Emmys. They aren’t going to win either way, but this doesn’t help.

-I always preferred weekend 2 of Coachella. It has a more laidback vibe and the people who are there just to take Instagram photos have already left. Unfortunately it doesn’t live stream, so we missed Beyonce’s new wardrobe and Ariana Grande‘s surprise performance.

-This clip about Supergirl saving her favourite shirt before going on a mission addresses a lot of problems I have with superhero shows.

James Corden is doing a Carpool Karaoke primetime special tonight and did a whole Bruno Mars-inspired music video for it.

Universal FanCon was cancelled abruptly this weekend when organizers confirmed that they didn’t have enough money to cover the convention’s costs, and the way they’ve handled it is the biggest PR mess I’ve ever seen.

-Speaking of things that whipped fandoms into a frenzy this weekend, a reporter called out an Avengers actor for treating him badly on the junket (he has since deleted the tweets, but before he did he confirmed that it wasn’t Josh Brolin or Dave Bautista.) Whoever it is, Jessica Chastain  knows!

Amy Adams sees dead people in the creepy Sharp Objects trailer, HBO’s new miniseries based on Gillian Flynn’s book.

-It’s been a rough day in Toronto. I have comforted myself by watching the Crazy Rich Asians trailer an embarrassing amount of times. I’m not even sorry. This looks AMAZING!

Kim Cattrall Supports Cynthia Nixon

-She may be feuding with Sarah Jessica Parker, but Kim Cattrall still has (kind of?) nice words for at least one of her former SATC costars. She tweeted her support for Cynthia Nixon’s New York Governor bid. It wasn’t the most glowing endorsement, but still…

-The Shia Labeouf comeback tour is upon us. There’s a new biopic starring Lucas Hedges as Labeouf (because white dudes in Hollywood get countless chances for redemption), and now there’s a new Esquire profile, which mentions he turned down offers to appear in The Social Network, 127 Hours, and The Bourne Legacy.

Chris Evans is plotting is post-Captain America career.

Drew Barrymore wants you to know that she didn’t actually mean to insult Jake Gyllenhaal‘s acting skills.

I really hope this tweet is Gillian Anderson’s response to the news that they plan to continue The X Files without her. Or the reaction to the season finale which I haven’t watch yet, but according to the outrage on Twitter, did her character dirty. Whatever it’s about, it’s expert shade.

-In advance of this weekend’s march, George Clooney penned a letter to Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school students, telling them “You make me proud of my country again.” Bill Murray also expressed his support in an NBC News op-ed.

-Terrible: a firefighter died on the set of an Edward Norton-directed movie.

-According to a new lawsuit filed against Russell Simmons, a woman claims she met him when he invited her and her son backstage at a DefJam concert and then he trapped her in a hotel room and told her “I am going to f**k you or I’m going to f**k your son.”

-The Cannes red carpet is full of weird rules (like women have to wear heels) and they just added another one: no selfies.

Will Smith and Jimmy Fallon performed the history of sitcom theme songs.

Rosario Dawson stars in the Krystal trailer, directed by William H Macy.

-Andrew Garfield might be losing his mind in the trailer for Under The Silver Lake.

Reese Witherspoon Joins Forces with Zendaya

Reese-Witherspoon-marie-claire

-In her new cover story for Marie Claire, Reese Witherspoon walks the walk by talking about how she’s focusing on producing female-driven projects, including a film she’s co-producing with Zendaya.

Kim Cattrall  WENT OFF on Sarah Jessica Parker on Instagram this weekend after Parker offered condolences for the death of Cattrall’s brother. Responded Cattrall: “Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now…So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.” Here’s some history of the pair’s increasingly public spats over the past few months.  Though I’m clearly on #TeamKim (I assume most people are?) I also kind of feel like SJP was put in a terrible position when Extra asked her about the death. If she refused to answer, it would have been worse. She definitely doesn’t come out of the entire SATC saga looking great, but in this particular instance she was damned if she did, damned if she didn’t.

Idris Elba got engaged this weekend and there’s video of him popping the question, just in case you really want to hate your life.

-The stunt coordinator on Kill Bill broke his silence to say he and his entire department were kept off the set on the day Uma Thurman filmed that scene. “At no point was I notified or consulted about Ms. Thurman driving a car on camera that day. Had I been involved, I would have insisted not only on putting a professional driver behind the wheel but also insuring that the car itself was road-worthy and safe.”

-A friend and I were talking last week about how in this #TimesUp moment we were surprised that no one has said “Hey, remember those old allegations/charges against Michael Fassbender? Or Christian Bale? Or Josh Brolin? Or Christian Slater?” Well, looks like Fassbender’s up first.

-Despite those sexual misconduct allegations, The Deuce is bringing James Franco back for season two.

Taylor Swift has been burned by leaks before. So now when she wants you to hear an unreleased song, she flies an iPad to you, then flies it back, according to Ed Sheeran.

-45-year-old comedian Dane Cook is dating a teenager. That’s swell.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen gave out crystals at New York Fashion Week. Seems about right…

-Clear your calendar: the royal wedding schedule has arrived.

-This is embarrassing: A judge ruled that Zooey Deschanel — not her agency or manager — was primarily to blame for her not getting a film role.

-I have zero interest in ever seeing Fifty Shades Freed so I have no horse in this race, but I read two *hilarious* reviews about it that were polar opposites. Vulture praised it for breaking every convention of film-making (“No five-minute section in Fifty Shades Freed has any relation to the five minutes before it; the film just starts over. It’s Memento, but with butt plugs”), while Pajiba called it ad “ignorant, poisonous anti-feminist hate anthem” (“It’s like offering waffles for breakfast and then making the waffles out of misogyny and feces. Enjoy your god damn shitwaffle, America. You deserve it”).

Zac Efron is shooting a Harmony Korine movie, and his beard is mesmerizing

-Box office pundits keep raising the expectations for Black Panther, and now it’s expected to open at a massive $165M. We bought our tickets last week and couldn’t get 5 seats together, which is both awesome and kind of a bummer.

Gina Rodriguez directed her first episode of Jane the Virgin and she talked about how it was important to create a safe space for her male costar during their sex scene. Her episode also featured a grandmother buying her first dildo, and Petra having a sex dream about her female lawyer, so she was really hitting it out of the park.

Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd perfectly recreated the ‘King Of Wishful Thinking’ music video and it’s wonderful.

David Duchovny thinks it’s premature for fans to be mourning Gillian Anderson’s departure from The X Files: “It’s a little cart before the horse, for me. It’s like, OK, there are issues to deal with or whatever, but let’s talk about the show. Let’s not talk about hypotheticals. To me, it’s unfortunate that’s kind of like ‘the headline’ because, to me, the headline is: We just made 10 really kick-ass episodes of television, and please enjoy and don’t mourn the death of this show quite yet.” (Read: I’m willing to do this show without her.)

-A Wrinkle in Time’s latest TV trailer promises a mind-bending adventure.

Carey Mulligan tries to solve a murder in BBC’s new four-part political thriller Collateral. Limited TV series seems like a smart career move for her.
