-In Variety’s Power of Women in comedy issue, Mindy Kaling says she’s been busier than ever during quarantine, executive producing “The Sex Lives of College Girls” and Never Have I Ever, as well as co-writing scripts for the third Legally Blonde movie and a Priyanka Chopra wedding comedy. Meanwhile, Maya Rudolph talks about burnout, Beyoncé, Bridesmaids, and becoming a bonafide Disney villain for Disenchanted.

-16-year-old Leni Klum covers Glamour Germany in honor of the publication’s 20th anniversary, exactly two decades after Heidi Klum‘s cover.

–RIP DMX. The Grammy-winning artist was one of the most successful rappers of the late 1990s, with his first five studio albums debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

–Gabrielle Union‘s tribute to him was incredibly touching. Kerry Washington’s, however, caused a stir for implying he and Prince Philip ended up in the same place (she’s since deleted it).

–Prince Harry is expected to fly back to the UK to attend the funeral. I’m sure the British press will still find a way to blame him and Meaghan for something.

–Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be co-starring alongside Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5. I’m torn: I want her to get ALL the money, but I also want her to keep doing interesting shit — and this ain’t it.

–George Floyd‘s family’s attorney revealed that George Clooney emailed him with some brutal advice for the trial: “You should tell them if Derek Chauvin feels so confident [that the cause of death was drug use], he should volunteer during his case, to get down on the floor in that courtroom, and let somebody come and put their knee on his neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds and be able to see if he can survive.”

-HBO Max has ordered a Magic Mike competition series, produced by Channing Tatum and Steven Soderbergh. The press release says it’s “an exhilarating and sexy series that will transform a group of men into real-life Magic Mikes. 10 men who have ‘lost their magic’ will come together in a competition series like no other.” Like they need to even sell us on it.

-Anyone else having a hard time making it through The Falcon And The Winter Soldier? There’s some big moments (like the last few minutes of the latest ep) but taken all together the show feels pretty middling.

-Poor Tom Cruise. Both Top Gun and the next Mission Impossible movie have been delayed again. Top Gun: Maverick is now set for Nov, while Mission: Impossible 7 won’t hit theatres until May 2022.

–Shenae Grimes is crowd-sourcing her baby’s name. What could possibly go wrong?

–Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer new Netflix movie Thunder Force is getting awful reviews. What do we have to do to keep Melissa away from hubby Ben Falcone‘s films?

–Cardi B covers XXL and talks about negotiating endorsement deals (“I’m from the ’hood and sh-t. And they might be like, ‘Oh, we could offer her a $2 million advance.’ And the company is gonna make out of you, probably f—ing $50 million, $100 million. And you settle for $2 million because they think that you’re so thirsty for that money that they just gonna give you the $2 million”) and staying on top of her business dealings (“One thing for sure that I’m doing a lot now this year is music and making sure my business is straight. -One of Hollywood’s worst kept secrets has been laid bare in a new THR story about how super producer Scott Rudin is reportedly a monster to work for. Among the allegations in a damning new exposé: he once “smashed an Apple computer monitor” on an assistant’s hand, when an employee with Type 1 diabetes told him she had to exercise 30 mins a day he only let her do it from 5:30am-6am (and still expected her to take calls then), and he’s thrown random things at employees, including a baked potato and a glass bowl.

-Gilmore Girls alums Jared Padalecki and Milo Ventimiglia are keeping the bromance vibes strong.

-Actor Zach Avery has been arrested for allegedly running a multi-million dollar Hollywood movie Ponzi scheme. He’s accused of fabricating licensing deals with Netflix, HBO, and other platforms to secure funding for his film distribution company, according to the FBI.​

-Netflix has reportedly spent $30M on a docuseries about Kanye West from Coodie & Chike — decades after Coodie decided to turn his footage into a documentary about West in 2002.

–Taylor Swift dropped a new song “From the Vault” — this one is “Mr. Perfectly Fine.” I’m not the hugest Swiftie but I’ve been listening to the Ringer’s podcast breaking down her albums, and them talking about how she experimented with different time signatures and layered vocals on her last two albums have really made me appreciate what a streak she’s on.

-I’ve sworn off CW shows, but the gender-swapped Kung Fu is getting good reviews. It debuts tonight.

–LeVar Burton wants to guest host Jeopardy, which sounds ideal.

This looks better than the initial images made it look, since it seems less about her being a firefighter and more about her being a badass a la Salt.
