Emily Ratajkowski Announces Pregnancy Through Vogue

Emily Ratajkowski revealed that she’s pregnant via Vogue’s Digital Issue Cover. There’s also an accompanying short video directed by Lena Dunham, which Dunham calls the “opposite of a People magazine baby announcement.”

-Speaking of Vogue, a new NYT report accused Anna Wintour of cultivating a toxic climate that has “sidelined and tokenized women of color, especially Black women” at the magazine.

Dominic West and Lily James‘ romantic jaunt around Rome didn’t just get them in the gossip spotlight; it might also get them fined because you’re not supposed to ride scooters together in covid.

Drake celebrated his 34th birthday over the weekend, and people are disgusted that he served a mac ‘n cheese that included raisins and capers.

-It’s been a big day for the moon! NASA announced there’s more water on the moon than previously thought, and Oscar Isaac is in negotiations to star as Moon Night in Marvel’s forthcoming Disney+ series. He was previously pretty adamant about not playing Poe on a Disney+ series, but that was before covid killed movies (not to mention this new project keeps him far away from the Star Wards fandom).

-Comedian Eric Andre talked about Ellen Degeneres being “cancelled” for being mean. “James Corden is fucked if that’s the only criteria to get called out. James Corden and Lorne Michaels are screwed! They’re trembling in their fucking boots.”

Bette Midler said that she, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy would all be down for a Hocus Pocus sequel. Please Hollywood, we ask for so little!

Midler, Parker and Najimy also shot a cute voting PSA, complete with spell chanting.

-I love when celebs don’t know the difference between replies and DMs.

Nicole Kidman is pulling double duty for HBO. Not only does she star in the new limited series The Undoing, she also sings its theme song.

Drew Barrymore tearfully opened up on her divorce from Will Kopelman during an interview with the Today Show, saying “I couldn’t make sense of it. I really did not take divorce well. I took it really hard…I know from not growing up with any family whatsoever that that was the last thing that I wanted to do for my daughters. It was, like, ugh the ultimate promise I wanted to make with you and for you was to have this amazing family and I found that and there’s something not working, that isn’t livable. How tragic is that?”

Octavia Spencer says her favourite birthday message this year came from Keanu Reeves, who once helped her when her car broke down on the way to an audition.

-The former DJ on Wendy Williams‘ show jumped in to comment when people were posting that she seemed distracted on Friday’s episode, saying “Y’all have no idea what’s really going on and everyone there is afraid to speak up because they don’t wanna lose their jobs.. this is going to play out bad.. I feel sorry for the workers and victims.”

-Today, Williams seemed to address Friday’s weirdness, saying “I appreciate you watching, but even after all of these years, it’s still work. An effort put in for the hour I’m out here, you know? I guess every day is not perfect, but I’m not a perfectionist. I’m not perfect.”

Hugh Grant says he’d do a Notting Hill sequel because “I would like to do a sequel to one of my own romantic comedies that shows what happened after those films ended. Really, to prove the terrible lie that they all were, that it was a happy ending.” Look man, life has been rough this year. Just let us keep this one little thing.

-I don’t watch The Bachelorette, but Clare Crawley has been liking tweets about the show’s producers forcing her to leave.

-Netflix released the full trailer for Selena: The Series, coming in December.

Janelle Monae Makes The Cut

janelle-monae-the-cut

Janelle Monae‘s cover story for The Cut was written by Roxane Gay, so you know it’s good. Monae talks her fear of the 2016 election results feuling her Dirty Computer album (“It started with who don’t I mind pissing off. I don’t mind pissing off conservatives. I don’t mind pissing off white men. I don’t give a fuck. This is about celebrating. I wanted to celebrate queer black people living outside of what it meant to be American”), and her method approach to shooting her new film Antebellum (“I want that spirit to always stay on-camera so I don’t break. I don’t talk on the phone a lot … I don’t want that to take me out of my space).

-Meanwhile, Roxane Gay also shared her thoughts on American Dirt and the West Side Story revival.

-Oscars are this weekend! The big acting awards seem locked (Joaquin Phoenix, Renée Zellweger, Brad Pitt, Laura Dern) but can Parasite’s increasing recognition mean it’ll cause an upset in best picture? God, I would love that.

Joaquin used his BAFTA acceptance speech this weekend to call out the ceremony’s lack of diversity, adding “I think that it is the obligation of the people that have created and perpetuate and benefit from a system of oppression to dismantle it so that’s on us.” This is a very, very good speech (especially since in the last few years of award shows, it’s only been actresses making this kind of stand). But it’s also very much like…ok, now what? At this point, Hollywood needs to start taking concrete steps to dismantle the system. Inclusion riders? Refusing to work with only white male directors? What’s it going to be?

-Meanwhile, Prince William, who is BAFTA’s president(!), revealed that the academy has “launched a full and thorough review of the entire awards process” following the #BAFTAsSoWhite controversy.

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith went to the BAFTAs and remain the cutest thing.

-People didn’t love Rebel Wilson’s speech but I dunno — I laughed at her Cats jokes.

Hugh Grant made Bridget Jones’s Diary references when he presented after Renée Zellweger at the BAFTAs, and it was perfect.

-12 days after reportedly getting married, Pamela Anderson is single again.

Megan Thee Stallion is apparently dating G Eazy and people have a lot of opinions about it.

-Speaking of new relationships, Lady Gaga is dating a CEO named Michael Polansky.

-The reviews for Hulu’s High Fidelity, starring Zoe Kravitz, are good. Really good.

-I binged the last six episodes of Bojack Horseman and I still can’t believe that an animated show about a horse makes my ‘best TV in the last decade’ list, but there it is. It’s also weirdly the third series finale I’ve seen this week with a door-to-death concept.

David Schwimmer is walking back his comment about “Maybe there should be an all-black Friends or an all-Asian Friends.” In a lengthy response to a post from actress Erika Alexander, he explained “I didn’t mean to imply Living Single hadn’t existed or indeed hadn’t come before Friends, which I knew it had.”

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira‘s Super Bowl performance was fire! In case you missed it (or just want to relive the glory) it’s on YouTube.

-Coach dropped their perfectly timed campaign with JLo hours after her performance.

-As per usual, the Super Bowl brought with it a bunch of new movie and TV trailers. On the TV front, Marvel gave us a peek at The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki, while on the film side we have our first Bond trailer, a new look at Mulan and the Top Gun sequel, and a new Black Widow trailer.

Taylor Swift Talks Helping Fellow Artists

Taylor Swift billboard cover

-In her new Billboard cover story, Taylor Swift discusses advocating for women’s rights and breaking down gender barriers in the industry. “I get so many phone calls from new artists out of the blue — like, ‘Hey, I’m getting my first wave of bad press, I’m freaking out, can I talk to you?’ And the answer is always yes! I’m talking about more than 20 people who have randomly reached out to me. I take it as a compliment because it means that they see what has happened over the course of my career, over and over again.”

-There was a Melrose Place cast reunion and they all still look great!

-Survivor finally ejected Dan Spilo from the game — and it took him harassing a crew member before they did it. He was caught on camera inappropriately touching female players, he make it to the loved ones visit and to the top eight, but producers only removed him after his problematic behavior affected their own team. The show was already wearing it after his first accuser was voted out — the bad press is going to be even worse now.

-Shortly after the news broke that Harvey Weinstein had reached a settlement, Emily Ratajkowski showed up at the premiere of Uncut Gems with the words “Fuck Harvey” scrawled across her arm. She also posted it on IG. In words I have never said before (and likely never will again), go Emily Ratajkowski!

-After multiple interviews defending it, now Olivia Wilde says the depiction of the real-life journalist she plays in Richard Jewel was “out of her control.”

Harry Styles opted to eat cod sperm rather than tell ex-girlfriend Kendall Jenner which of his songs are about her.

Keri Russell was on Jimmy Kimmel’s show last night, and did some adorably terrible Star Wars impersonations. She also showed up Jon Hamm in the pickup line game.

Keanu Reeves‘ John Wick 4 and The Matrix 4 are getting the same release date. This seems…dumb.

Hugh Grant has been in a Twitter feud with Piers Morgan and he’s absolutely owning it.

Victoria Beckham answered fan questions on Instagram and she was kind of adorable about it?

-Despite critics seeming to dislike its new season, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel has already been renewed for season four.

-The In the Heights trailer from Lin Manuel-Miranda and Jon M. Chu is giving me all the feels!
