Miley Cyrus Has a New (C)attitude

-Um, is this new Miley Cyrus single a joke? Please say yes!!

-During their Late Night promo tour, Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling sounded off on Alabama’s new abortion legislation, commenting that the U.S. is “going back to a very dark age indeed.”

–Adam Scott says he was incredibly nervous when he introduced himself to Meryl Streep on the Big Little Lies set — but got some support from a costar. “She moved on, and Laura Dern came up to me immediately right after and was like ‘I was watching the whole thing, you did fine. Let me give you some notes.'”

-Congrats to Kate Mara and Jamie Bell, who just welcomed a daughter.

-HBO aired a Game of Thrones documentary last night, which heavily focused on the crew and production. Though the cast scenes were few and far between, there were some really touching bits from the table reads, including the moment Varys dies, and the teary one when Kit Harrington (who doesn’t read the scripts before the first readthrough) found out about Dany’s fate. Emila Clarke looks crushed in both clips.

-Meanwhile, Charles Dance, who played Tywin Lannister, says he was “confused” by the last season of Game of Thrones.

-The Spice Girls have kicked off their reunion tour and all the social media clips are amazing.

-Meanwhile, Mel B played coy when asked about past romance rumours surrounding her and Zac Efron.

–Justin Long once pranked Bruce Willis, because clearly he doesn’t value his own life.

-I didn’t watch the full 52-minute video, but seeing Stephen Colbert totally blissed out by playing Dungeons & Dragons for Red Nose Day is a delight.

-I enjoyed this season of Killing Eve but last night’s season finale made me even more convinced that this show doesn’t really seem to know where it’s going and probably should have been a one-and-done.

-Oof, this part of Chris Kattan’s memoir where he says Lorne Michaels pressured him to sleep with director Amy Heckerling so she wouldn’t tank Night at the Roxbury is a rough read.

-I gave up on Jordan Peele’s The Twilight Zone, but I might tune into the season finale because it stars Seth Rogen and Zazie Beetz.

–Kumail Nanjiani is an uber driver who gets in over his head in the Stuber trailer, costaring Karen Gillan, Natalie Morales and Dave Bautista.

All Hail, Baby Archie!

-Cue the jingle jangle jokes: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry called their baby Archie. The couple has chosen not to use courtesy titles so it’ll be Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. When Charles is King he’ll automatically become Prince Archie, but he (or his parents) may choose not to use it.

-Earlier today, Meghan and Harry presented the baby in a brief interview, and they both looked glowingly happy. (I love what she wore.)

-Meanwhile, George Clooney says he hopes for  kinder treatment of Meghan in the media going forward.

-In other baby news, Amy Schumer called her son Gene.

–Stephen Colbert surprised Anne Hathaway last night on the Late Show by introducing her to RuPaul and she cried.

-Have we traveled back in time? Britney Spears has been granted a temporary restraining order against Sam Lutfi for herself, her children and her parents.

-Even the guy who plays Gendry thinks that Game of Thrones marriage proposal was silly. “He just got a bit gassed and asked someone to marry him. And she quite rightly told him where to go. What a stupid question! I think he knows deep down in his heart of hearts there is no way Arya will ever be anyone’s lady.”

–Drake wearing a Breaker High sweatshirt last night at the Raptors game is all the CanCon I’ve ever wanted.

–Rebel Wilson posted some TBT photos of the time Kristen Wiig took the Bridesmaids cast to a strip club. Trust me, you’re gonna want to click.

–Robert Downey Jr.‘s “I love you, 3,000” line is based on something his children say to him. *sob*

-Batwoman, Nancy Drew and a Riverdale spinoff have been ordered to series by the CW.

-The original 90201 cast reunites for a table read in a teaser for their new show.

–Kate McKinnon gives Emma Thompson a tour in her SNL promo. I. CAN’T. WAIT.

–Busy Phillipps got candid about getting an abortion at 15 on her show following Georgia’s passing of the “heartbeat bill.”

-I’m bummed that Amy Poehler‘s new Netflix movie Wine Country isn’t getting great reviews, but I’m still going to watch the crap out of it.

-This is an interesting take on the future of romcoms after the very well-reviewed Long Shot flopped at the box office.

-I got a kick out of this oral history of the most shocking Survivor moment in history, which aired 11 years ago today.

-An army of Rorschach copycats take to the streets in the first teaser trailer for HBO’s Watchmen series.

–Jessica Chastain, Constance Wu and Ava Duvernay cover Marie Claire, where they talk about the importance of inclusion and representation, and learning how to not obsess about accommodating others.

-Sad news for for those of you who even knew they were dating: Rita Ora and Andrew Garfield split up.

–Kit Harrington told Stephen Colbert about the end of Game of Thrones: “I was very shocked and surprised at certain events unfolding, and then I blubbed my eyes out. I cried.”

-I’ve watched this clip of Jennifer Hudson and Tom Jones spontaneously singing at each other more times than can be considered normal.

–Keri Russell and Adam Driver (who are costarring on Broadway) are so damn funny and charming in this NYT profile.

-You can tell Brie Larson and Samuel L Jackson have done a few movies together by this point; their chemistry is really easy going and nice. The Captain Marvel pair sang Ariana Grande and took a lie detector test on Carpool Karaoke.

-Also, Larson and Jackson sang “Shallow” on The Jonathan Ross Show and they were pretty damn great.

–Heidi Montag defended The Hills reboot’s lack of diversity by pointing out her co-stars’ hair colours. So that happened.

-Also, I keep forgetting that Mischa Barton is in this thing.

–Gwyneth Paltrow says that her persona shift from a whiskey-drinking, cigarette-smoking cool girl to a health nut had everyone “thinking I was a crackpot.” Who is this whiskey-drinking badass she’s speaking of?

-Not surprisingly, Idris Elba‘s Netflix comedy about a DJ-turned-nanny isn’t getting glowing reviews. I want more for him than this. (And I definitely want more for him than taking over Will Smith’s role in Suicide Squad.)

-HBO’s The Case Against Adnan Syed will follow Amy Syed’s process of seeking and winning an appeal post-Serial.

-I liked this piece a lot about how Steven Spielberg isn’t right about Netflix — but he’s not entirely wrong either. I’ve been surprised by they lack of debate and the full-throated support of Netflix (who does some not great stuff). At the very least, they *should* disclose their box office numbers if they want to be Oscar contenders.

-Oh my goodness, the Good Omens trailer is all kinds of fun.

-I very much enjoyed this look back at Julia Roberts’ “Fellini summer”, a dramatic few months which included leaving fiance Kiefer Sutherland for Jason Patric, fighting with Steven Spielberg on Hook, being hospitalized for the “flu”, and walking away from Shakespeare in Love.

-You know, I’ve been pretty checked out on Arrow for a while and mostly just catch up with it out of routine these days, but compiling all these cast and fan social media posts about the show’s ending for this story hit me harder than I thought it would, especially Stephen Amell‘s tearful Facebook video. There were seasons when I LOVED this show, and I’m glad it’s getting to go out on its own terms.

-Meanwhile, I’m thinking this TV blind item from a while ago was probably about Amell.

-The trailer for Mindy Kaling’s Late Night starring Emma Thompson is everything I’ve ever wanted.
