-In her Marie Claire cover, Tessa Thompson talks about living out everyone’s fantasy by having a spa day with Emma Thompson, and says #TimesUp “allowed me to say things I’m not sure I would have said a year ago. The truth is, the system where you assess international value is inherently sexist and racist because we haven’t had those opportunities. The only way to disrupt that is to create new models.” I love her so much, I can barely remember that she was once that kind of annoying character on Veronica Mars.

-Also, Tessa says Chris Hemsworth is “really sensitive” despite his fame and looks.

-Unfortunately, Tessa and Chris‘s new movie Men In Black isn’t getting great reviews.

-On a podcast with her former costars, Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev says she and Paul Wesley “despised each other” for the first half a season. Between this and the fact that her and Ian Somerhalder seemed to have negative chemistry after they broke up IRL, that set must have been a riot.

-What the hell is Drake doing??

-Welp. Jessica Biel is apparently lobbying California lawmakers alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has some questionable opinions about vaccine.

–Miley Cyrus used her anniversary post to shut down split rumours. She’s also apologized for a 2017 comment about not liking hip-hop anymore. “‘This pushed me out of the hip hop scene a little’ was insensitive as it is a privilege to have the ability to dip in and out of ‘the scene.'”

-Did everyone else but me know that Mariska Hargitay has been married to the hot guy from Younger for 15 years?!?

–Jon Stewart choked up while testifying during the hearing for reauthorizing the 9/11 victim compensation fund. “What an incredible metaphor this room is. … Behind me, a filled room of 9/11 first responders, and in front of me, a nearly empty Congress.”

–Keanu Reeves had no idea he’s been the internet’s latest boyfriend. “I’ve been what? I didn’t know that…That’s wacky. The positivity is great. It’s really special how [Always Be My Maybe and John Wick 3] have been embraced.”

-After hackers stole 18 hours of outtakes from Radiohead’s “OK Computer” sessions and held them for ranson, the group released them with proceeds going to charity.

-Netflix says Ava DuVernay‘s miniseries on the Central Park Five, When They See Us, has been the most-watched series on the service in the U.S. every day since it debuted on May 31.

–Ariana Grande did good.

-I don’t think we need another season of Russian Doll because the first was perfect, but I said that about Big Little Lies and Barry, so what do I know?

-So Bradley Cooper‘s camp seems to be pushing the “he was too busy being an auteur” angle in the break up stories which is…a choice.

-There are two new novels I can’t wait to read this summer: Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s Fleishman Is in Trouble, and Linda Holmes‘ Evvie Drake Starts Over. So I’m thrilled to see excerpts have been released of both! Here’s the one from Fleishman, and here’s Evvie.

-Oh god, this documentary on the late Anton Yelchin is going to be heartbreaking.

Rihanna Contemplates Marriage and Motherhood

–Rihanna discussed marriage and love in a candid new chat with her Ocean’s 8 co-star Sarah Paulson for Interview magazine. She talked about carving time out of her schedule for boyfriend of two years Hassan Jameel (“I got into a new relationship, and it matters to me. It was like, ‘I need to make time for this.’ Just like I nurture my businesses, I need to nurture this as well. I’ll shut things down for two days, three days at a time. On my calendar we now have the infamous ‘P,’ which means personal days. This is a new thing”), and said she wants to be a mother “More than anything in life.” (My fave part about the interview is when Paulson starts serenading her and Rihanna says “I’m going to tell you this because I’m a black girl: You’re going to have to stay on beat, okay?”)

-Vanity Fair wrote an article speculating who Ellen Pompeo may have been referring to when she talked about “toxic behavior” on the set of Grey’s Anatomy for the first 10 seasons — and Isaiah Washington read it and snapped. He tweeted “Vanity Fair needs to keep my name out of this. You gone be dirty? Why don’t you ask Ellen Pompeo how she was paid ‘hush money’ to protect Patrick Dempsey and HIS ‘toxic behavior’.” 👀

–Kylie Jenner threw a Handmaid’s Tale-themed party. No, girl.

–Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger are officially married. They shared identical posts about it on Instagram (each with a line about how they’re “grateful to Mr. Giorgio Armani” for outfitting them which is…uh…something. Did their sponcon agreement specific a sentence or do they just not know how to tag?)

-Fans are baffled after Justin Bieber challenged Tom Cruise to a UFC fight.

-I’m very ok with The Good Place announcing that season four will be its last.

–Cuba Gooding Jr. has been accused of grabbing a women’s breasts in a NYC club and could potentially be arrested.

-This is horrible: A year after Pauley Perrette exited NCIS following 15 seasons on the show, she took to Twitter to beg fans to stop asking her to return — because she says she’s afraid of being in the presence of lead actor Mark Harmon. She posted “I am terrified of Harmon and him attacking me. I have nightmares about it. I have a new show that is SAFE AND HAPPY!” and then a separate tweet of two graphic photos of an NCIS crew member with stitches around his eyes.

-I love that The Other Two and Barry are on this list of the best TV so far in 2019. I’d add Better Things, too.

-This video compilation of Gwyneth Paltrow being clueless about what’s going on in the MCU movies she stars in is great. Just cash those Marvel checks, girl.

–Kiefer Sutherland calling out our ridiculous premier on Twitter is a good time.

-I gave up on The 100 after season 2 but a lot of my Twitter mutuals still watch it and ship Bellarke (which seems really hard because I don’t think they’ve progressed past a hug in the last five seasons). So it was nice to see their total bliss meltdown when the actors — who no one even knew were dating — announced that they eloped last month.

–Celine Dion stopping her set until a guy came back from the bathroom so he wouldn’t miss anything is very on brand and wonderful.

-This is a good breakdown of what happened to X-Men’s Dark Phoenix, which bombed at the weekend box office and could lose $100M. Insiders told The Hollywood Reporter that after the disaster that was Apocalypse, execs came away thinking that the movie’s failure had been due to an excessive amount of explosions and scale, not due to franchise fatigue generally. “We were wrong.” Then the release date was moved to June to placate James Cameron, Fox’s most important filmmaker, so not to conflict with Alita: Battle Angel. And Dark Phoenix’s muddled marketing campaign didn’t help. “When definite awareness of Rocketman is higher than an X-Men movie, you know you’re in strange territory.”

–Laura Linney and Audra McDonald had some funny “beef” at last night’s Tonys.

–DJ Khaled‘s energy drink bundles might have cost him a #1 album, and now he’s reportedly planning to sue Billboard over it.

-I’m taking a break from non-Legends of Tomorrow CW superhero shows, but here’s the first full trailer for Batwoman.

-The footage of Keanu Reeves recording his part for Toy Story 4 went viral this weekend (deservedly) thanks to a Chris Evens boost.

-Cyberpunk 2077 comes out next year – but Keanu showed up at E3 yesterday to promote his involvement and debut the first trailer.

 

Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk Split

-It looks like the rumours (or more likely, the carefully placed heads up articles) were true: Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk have split after four years of dating and one child. Oh gawd, the Cooper/Gaga shippers are gonna have a field day…

-I very much like Mindy Kaling‘s Glamour cover interview. She talks about her public persona (“I think there’s been a tendency for people to conflate my characters with my personality. The fact of the matter is, I wrote 24 episodes of The Office. That’s more than any other person on The Office, but no one can really picture me sitting and doing the hard work of writing the episodes. It’s like it doesn’t compute to people because I can wear all pink and re-create Beyoncé videos”) and how she’s chill about approaching 40 (“Because I never had a career based on my physical beauty, I’m approaching aging without much dread. I was never the person who was, like, Mindy ‘The Body’ Kaling”).

–Jada Pinkett Smith addressed rumours of of cheating in her relationship with Will Smith: “No, but there’ve been other betrayals of the heart that have been far bigger than I could even think in regards to an infidelity situation.”

-This is the very best part of that new Courtney Love interview: “Right now, I’ve become really ensorcelled by this Venusian fertility cult in the Valley. They’re beautiful women, all related to each other. [Ed note: Love is referring to the Kardashians.] ”

–Jon Favreau‘s The Chef Show on Netflix looks delightful. The clip in which Favreau reminds Gwyneth Paltrow that she was in Spider-Man is especially great. “You were in Spider-Man: Homecoming.” “No, I was in Avengers.” “You were in Spider-Man also…With the press conference at the end?” “That was Spider-Man? Oh my god!”

-In the latest Actors on Actors interview, Penn Badgley talks to Gina Rodriguez about why people find his murderous stalker on You so charming: “The cultural norms that we’re still all indoctrinated by that incline us to forgive a certain kind of person. Namely someone who looks like myself, less so someone who looks like you.”

-In Chris Pine‘s conversation with Robin Wright, he weighs in on the Make America Great Again movement: “What period of history are we talking about? Jim Crow? Slavery? Plantation masters?”

–Billy Porter talking about straight actors being given gay roles is amazing. It’s especially amazing because he’s doing it in front of Richard Madden and Hugh Grant.

-Meanwhile, Hugh Grant says every career decision he made during his rom-com heyday “was probably wrong“: “I should’ve made interesting decisions and done different stuff. Instead, I repeated myself almost identically about 17 times in a row.”

-Entertainment Weekly just became a monthly magazine and cut some of my fave writers. This is the end of a goddamn era.

-A random asshole asked Zendaya on a date during a Q&A for Euphoria.

–Olivia Colman, Kaitlyn Dever and Alice Englert star in the All Have Their Sins trailer which is produced by [double-checks notes] Gerard Butler.
