Nicole Richie Gets a Quibi Show

Nicole Richie‘s Quibi show has its first trailer.  Ok, that made me chuckle.

Zac Efron is on the latest episode of Hot Ones, where he talks about getting fit for Baywatch (“I realized when I was done with that movie, I don’t ever want to be in that good a shape again. It was so hard”), and getting advice from Leonardo DiCaprio about dealing with the paparazzi.

-Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio is helping to launch America’s Food Fund, which has already raised $12 million to help communities impacted by the coronavirus.

John Mayer gave a “sizable” donation to the Livingston, MT hospital to enable it to buy ventilators. “Mayer was not seeking publicity in making the donation, but agreed that the hospital could release his name after an inquiry from The Livingston Enterprise and in hopes of boosting community morale.”

-This is an interesting piece on the things that are inherently troubling, and maybe even repugnant, about Tiger King.

-This is fantastic: SXSW is getting a second life. The 10-day online film festival is aiming for a late April date and will be free to stream for everyone on Amazon Prime.

-Top Gun: Maverick is pushing its June release date until Dec in yet another move that suggests Hollywood is just giving up on the summer movie season this year. I’m curious to see which (if any) big movie will opt to go Netflix or Amazon instead.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk posted a video with intimacy coach Michaela Boehm, who warns them that many women aren’t in the mood for sex right now. “Food, comfort and eating sweets to up the body fat; most women are reporting these are the things they want to do. They don’t want so much pleasure.” My thirstier-than-usual social feeds would beg to differ.

Cate Blanchett‘s new FX series Miss America is getting great reviews.

Tina Fey, Mike Schur, and 35 more TV writers told Vulture what their characters would do in a pandemic, and it’s brilliant. The Friday Night Lights and Parks & Rec ones are the best.

Adam Schlesinger, a singer-songwriter for Fountains of Wayne who had an award-winning career writing songs for film, theater and television (including Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), passed away yesterday from covid-19.

Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer have reportedly signed on to a Call Me By Your Name sequel. As much as I loved the first one, this seems like a bad idea.

Gerard Butler faces down a comet barreling towards Earth in the trailer for Greenland.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Once Stormed Off View Set After Being Reprimanded by Barbara Walters

-New audio from The View reveals that Elisabeth Hasselbeck once threatened to quit the show during a commercial break after a fight with Barbara Walters over the morning after pill. “What the f**k! I don’t even swear. She has me swearing. This woman is driving me nuts. I’m not going back. I can’t do the show like this. She just reprimanded me, and she knew exactly what she was doing. Goodbye! I’m off. Write about that in the New York F**KING Post!”

-The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss tells Marie Claire that’s she’s dating someone, but won’t say who. “I learned you just don’t talk about it. Who really gives a s**t whether or not I’m dating anyone? I hate to put that importance on it. I cringe a little.”

Nina Dobrev crushes Zac Efron at the gym in his new YouTube video. (Why does he work out in Cons?!)

-I love that Reese Witherspoon badly photoshopped Zoe Kravitz into her pic from the Big Little Liars set.

-This thread on how only male reviewers seem to think that Captain Marvel has no character arc is so, so good.

-Fleabag’s current season will be its last. With the end of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and You’re The Worst this week, Broad City last week, and Jane the Virgin this summer, we’re seriously losing a lot of amazing, female-driven shows with messy protagonists.

-Does anyone else think the rumours about Fergie and Prince Andrew getting back together could just be a distraction from the juicier royal rumours circulating this week?

Judi Dench getting caught in a lie about never going to nightclubs is delightful.

-Are Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson‘s camps trying to prep us for imminent engagement news?

Charlize Theron isn’t just single, she’s “shockingly available.” (Her words.)

Samantha Bee slammed anti-vaxxers — and used a Riverdale spoof to do it.

Beyonce just signed a deal with Adias after reportedly walking out of meeting with Reebok due to a lack of diversity on their team.

Holland Taylor is playing Stormy in the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel and this is straight out of my fantasy casting.

-Speaking of fantasy casting, Kumail Nanjiani is in talks to join Angelina Jolie in The Eternals. Get that Marvel money, Kumail!

-Every time Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak hang out in public I get so hopeful!

-The reviews for Fosse/Verdon are very mixed. I’m still going to check it out.

Laura Dern seeks justice for a stranger in the Trial by Fire trailer.

Britney Spears Checks Into Mental Health Facility

-Aw man, I really thought Britney Spears had been doing better these last few years. Over a week ago she checked into a psychiatric facility after suffering from emotional distress, and is expected to stay for 30 days. She recently cancelled her tour after her father underwent surgery on his colon and TMZ reports she’s been distraught by his illness.

Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman agreed to surrender their passports in their first court appearances. (Weird sidenote: I keep listening to podcasts where they pronounce her last name Loff-lin, even though she pronounces it Lock-lin — just like the person I know who has that last name. Where is the f coming from?)

-During a speech in Washington, D.C., yesterday, Michelle Williams revealed how she felt “paralyzed in feelings of futility” during the pay gap controversy. Mark Wahlberg was paid $1.5 million to return to the All the Money in the World set for about a week-and-a-half of reshoots, while she received a paltry $80 per diem. “”Guess what, no one cared.”

Leslie Jones lives out all her Game of Thrones fanatasies in Kat Harington’s SNL promos.

Henry Golding and Emma Thompson showed the trailer for the new romcom Last Christmas today at CinemaCon and the audience seemed to dig it.

-This is just evil. CBS All Access wants to save the canceled One Day At A Time, but Netflix has the right to kill any such move, and they might stop it from living on.

-The Flash’s Grant Gustin triggered alarm when he vaped on an airplane, which is such a jerk move.

-Captain Marvel has crossed the $1B mark globally at the box office.

-I meant to link to this last week, but The Ringer did a roundup on the best movies that came out in 1999, and it’s insane how many gems that year produced. (Fight Club, Election, Cruel Intentions, Being John Malkovich, She’s All That, Galaxy Quest, Girl Interrupted, Notting Hill, Three Kings, The Sixth Sense, 10 Things I Hate About You, Office Space, The Matrix). Here’s part one, and here’s part two.

-Meanwhile, Avengers: End Game tickets when on sale yesterday and ticket sites immediately crashed. Now tickets are being resold for thousands of dollars.

-Fanfiction depository Ao3 being nominated for a Hugo is amazing.

-This is a devastating account of how the Washington Post backed down on their Charlie Rose follow up story that contained additional reporting about misconduct by CBS exec Jeff Fager.

-The Handmaids Tale is still entering this year’s Emmys race, even though the series itself isn’t eligible. Hmmmm….

Joaquin Phoenix transforms into the Joker in the twisted first trailer for DC’s new standalone film. I’m not sure we need another origin story but I will admit to getting excited when Atlanta alums Zazie Beetz and Brian Tyree Henry popped up.

Zac Efron is a killer in disguise in the Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile trailer.
