Harry Styles Goes Shirtless on Rolling Stone

-I checked to see how old Harry Styles is before deciding if I was allowed to drool a little over his Rolling Stone cover — and it turns out his 25. Totally fine. It took me awhile but I get it now.

–Katie Holmes has reportedly pulled the plug on her relationship with Jamie Foxx, with the news coming days after he was spotted holding hands with another woman. Again.

-Congrats to Dwayne Johnson and his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, who got married in Hawaii.

-According to TMZ, Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber are eyeing a date in September for a big wedding event/anniversary party.

-Harry Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Tom Felton reunited to play guitar in their pjs, launching a million fanfics.

–Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter continue to stoke relationship rumours. The pair were spotted hanging out with Miley’s mom in Los Angeles.

–Elton John loaned his private jet to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry so they could enjoy some time at his private estate, and was not amused when the British press complained that the were adding to the carbon footprint by not flying commercial. The Brits are definitely focusing on the wrong royal right now.

-The casting for HBO/BBC’s fantasy drama adaptation of His Dark Materials continues to awe. Andrew Scott (aka Fleabag’s hot priest) just came onboard.

–Kate Hudson doing sponcon for Weight Watchers is weird but at least she seems to be having fun with it. Who cooks in a trench coat tho?

-Arrow may be wrapping in January, but Stephen Amell already has his next gig lined up: he’ll headline an 8-episode wrestling drama at Starz. This seems like a good career move. Transition into a bit more prestige-y stuff, while sticking with TV and the type of content his fanbase will follow him for.

-Ugh, these clips from Anderson Cooper‘s interview with Stephen Colbert  on the tragic death of his father and brothers in a plane crash made me tear up.

-The Seth Rogen-produced Good Boys, a movie about the R-rated misadventures of 3 preteen boys, had the year’s largest opening total for an original comedy.

–Lana Condor and Noah Centineo tweeting sweet things at each other as they wrap TATBILB filming is killing me.

-This is a good look at how this age of media corporation mega-mergers spells trouble. People don’t seem as concerned about Disney taking over Hollywood as maybe they should be.

-I was looking forward to CW’s debut of I Ship It tonight (about a woman who impulsively quits her job to become an assistant on the show she’s been writing fanfiction about) but the reviews are just ok.

-Man, last night’s episode of Succession should have included a trigger warning for anyone who’s ever worked in digital media. (One of the show’s writers/producers used to work for The Onion, which is probably why they nailed it.) The headlines running in the background for the fake Gawker/Buzzfeed site were perfect.

-Marvel Comics’ attempts to appear apolitical don’t seem to be working anymore.

-I really enjoyed this interview with Michelle Williams on preparing for Fosse/Verdon and taking a break from working.

-The trailer for Kristen Stewart’s “new” movie (which she filmed in 2017) couldn’t have come at a worse time for her.

–Reese Witherspoon is taking on Marie Kondo with a new Netflix show about tidying up.

-Today was a *crazy* day for TV trailers and news. Steven Soderbergh‘s next movie about older ladies going on a trip (starring Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen, and Dianne Wiest) has landed an the upcoming streaming service HBO Max. Amazon dropped its trailer (featuring Sterling K. Brown) and release date (Dec 6) for season 3 of Marvelous Mrs Maisel. We got our first trailer for Ryan Murphy‘s Upcoming Netflix show The Politician, starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Platt. But the buzziest drop (and maybe not in a good way) was Apple’s first real trailer for The Morning Show, starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell. For a company with a reputation for their marketing genius, they are not handling these trailers well. With this cast I was expecting a comedy, not what looks like a dour mix of Studio 60 and The Newsroom. And was Witherspoon really cast as the young ingenue?!

Taylor Swift Drops “The Archer”

-iTunes released Taylor Swift‘s new song called “The Archer” hours before her livestream, where she was expected to debut it. This one builds nicely but at the end of the day, it’s her third single in a row that doesn’t exactly snap.

-This is a really cringey profile on Leonardo DiCaprio. The insults to superhero movie actors seem really odd, seeing as so many quality actors are doing those films now. And talking about how crew members of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood were instructed not to make eye contact with him like that’s a *good* thing is bizarre.

-I wasn’t sure about tuning into the next season of Homecoming, but now Janelle Monáe is set to replace Julia Roberts as the lead so I guess I don’t have a choice.

-I do not like Scarlett Johansson’s engagement ring. I don’t care that it cost $400k — it looks like it’s falling off the band.

-If you have a sign on your front lawn that quotes a celebrity, most celebrities would think it was creepy and drive away fast. Keanu Reeves, on the other hand, would stop the car and pen a touching note. He’s a precious unicorn and we don’t deserve him.

-Love love love this take on why male showrunners are obsessed with traumatizing young women.

-One of my favourite traditions from Comic-Con is Stephen Amell giving presents to a young fan named Sarah, who’s a cancer survivor. During his final Arrow panel this weekend, she got his season 1 costume.

-Um, the premise of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck‘s new movie sounds like a hard pass to me. It’s like ‘let’s tell a story about a women being raped — but about how it affects the MEN around her!’ Yeah, no.

-I needed this blooper reel from The Good Place in my life today.

-TIFF unveiled its gala films today and there are some super buzzy titles coming this year, including The Goldfinch, Hustlers, Knives Out, Joker, Judy, The Laundromat.

–Cynthia EriVo fight slavery as Harriet Tubman in the Harriet trailer, also coming to TIFF.

-What a swerve. Taika Waititi is going from his blockbuster Disney success to frolicking around as imaginary Hitler in Jojo Rabbit’s teaser trailer, which will screen at TIFF.

Arrow Bows Out with EW Cover

-I’ve given up on most of the Arrowverse shows, but good on EW for finally giving them a cover (the first monthly issue since they dropped the weekly format) in honor of Arrow’s final, shortened season.  Amell looks hella tired though.

–Tom Holland was spotted looking cozy with a girl who is NOT Zendaya and we’re all a little bit heartbroken.

-Ok, critics who’ve seen Veronica Mars’ new season keep warning about the “gutting” ending and I’m getting really worried. The latest is from Vulture: “It’s worth noting that some of the season’s concluding events will make some viewers, very, very, very mad. Really, incandescently mad.”

-Gossip Girl is coming back! An update just landed a straight-to-series order at Warner’s new streaming platform HBO Max, with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage returning as EPs. It’ll be interesting to see how it’ll work with today’s social media. Will the new GG be more like a Diet Prada or Shade Room?

-I don’t even watch The Bachelorette but this recap is great.

-In advance of Friday’s trailer, the Cats movie released a featurette starring Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Rebel Wilson and more. I’m still not entirely convinced this whole movie isn’t a prank. Between director Tom Hopper talking about how it’s a “timely story about diversity and inclusion” and James Corden saying “These are people but they’re cats. This is kind of blowing my mind,” it definitely feels like a prank.

-Time has named the 25 most influential people on the internet.

-This thread of Fleabag scenes makes me want to rewatch it even though I JUST DID.

–R. Kelly pleaded not guilty to new federal charges and has been denied bail. The singer faces 18 combined charges for alleged crimes against 10 victims.

-Prosecutors have dropped Kevin Spacey‘s criminal sexual assault case due to his accuser’s “unavailability.”

-HBO didn’t submit Gwendoline Christie for an Emmy so she paid the $225 fee, submitted herself and got a nomination, which is the most Brienne thing ever.

-Wait, Mr. Robot is still on TV??!

-Two months after NBC canceled A.P. Bio, the sitcom has been revived — on NBCUniversal’s forthcoming streaming service.

-The first trailer for Hustling, starring Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles, Lizzo and Cardi B, has arrived. Inject this directly into my eyeballs please!!! (Also, if you’ve never read The Cut article that this movie is based on, it’s a wild ride.)
