Lindsay Lohan Is Ready For Her Comeback

lindsay lohan paper

-There was a lot of talk last week about how that Amanda Bynes comeback profile glossed over or straight up ignored her worst behaviour, but the new Lindsay Lohan feature in Paper won’t be accused of that. It brings up her past (despite Lohan’s attempts to steer clear of certain topics) and reveals that she’s still a bit of a mess (making the interviewer wait until the 9-hour photo shoot is over and then still not talking to her, responding to questions about that encounter with “Syrian refugees” only through email via her rep, etc).

-Meanwhile, here’s the first trailer for Lindsay Lohan‘s new MTV reality show.  I wish her well, but I just can’t.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra‘s wedding looked amazing. They even had their own Bollywood dance number!

-As Camping ends with a whimper, Lena Dunham is being pretty blunt about her experience on the HBO show: “I’ve sort of had it with trying to be anyone else’s voice — I tried that and it was complicated and it didn’t necessarily work and it caused a lot of pain, so the only thing I can really do is be my voice.”

Pete Davidson says he’s been “getting online bullied and in public for 9 months.” Ok.

Chris Noth is not here for all the rumours about the Sex and the City 3 movie script, particularly the one about Mr Big dying of a heart attack: “There’s no way he was dying. That was all a lie.” He added, “There’s no drama, there’s no movie, there’s nothing going on with it, it’s over, it’s gone.”

Piers Morgan getting owned by 92-year-old Dick Van Dyke on Twitter is a pretty great way to start the week.

-Lifetime’s You starring Penn Badgley is moving to Netflix for season 2 (Netflix Canada is getting season 1 at some point this month).

-This video of Kelly Clarkson meeting Cher on a red carpet this weekend will make you melt.

-Rumours of a reboot of The Office just got a lot more credible thanks to this photo a cast member tweeted this weekend.

Hannah Lux Davis talks about directing “thank u, next”: “If you’re Ariana Grande, you can talk to anybody and they will take your call [Laughs]. I think Ariana was just like, ‘yo, what if we got Kris Jenner?’ And she got her!”

-There were rumours that Friends was leaving Netflix in January but it seems like it’s sticking around for a bit longer. It’s going to be a big deal if/when they lose the streaming rights to that show. Netflix doesn’t release ratings but there’s rumours that it is the most watched/rewatched show on the site — by A LOT.

-I didn’t even watch all of Daredevil but this interview with a writer on what it was like when they found out Netflix cancelled them is a real bummer.

-This is a great column on the work still needed to be done in this #MeToo era.

-The British Independant Film Awards took place this weekend, and everyone looked (mostly) lovely.

-This oral history of Working Girl in honour of its 30th anniversary is juicy fun. Melanie Griffith talks about trying to seduce Alec Baldwin, and the cast reflects on Kevin Spacey‘s creepy character.

-Here comes the Jameela Jamil backlash, right on schedule.

Anna Paquin plays a superstar publicist in the Flack trailer.

Michelle Williams Reveals She’s Married: “I Never Gave Up on Love”

michelle-williams-vanity-fair

Michelle Williams‘ new Vanity Fair cover story is very good. There is a bit of set up weirdness (the writer mocks the typical profile intro of writing about what the actress is wearing or eating — and then does it?), but the interview itself is great. Williams reveals that she recently got married (“I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free”), reflects on the lessons she learned from her pay-gap scandal, which she credits Jessica Chastain for helping bring to light, and talks about her new TV series produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda (“When they told me about it, I thought, O.K., now comes the part where I have to go in kicking and screaming and shouting about equality and transparency…Then, before I could even ask for it, they said, ‘They’ve offered you what Sam Rockwell is making.’ I cried”).

Demi Lovato is reportedly going to rehab straight from the hospital. Thank goodness; I hope she turns it around. (Also, it’s sweet that Wilmer Valderrama visited her in the hospital.)

Jenna Dewan calls her split from Channing Tatum “a positive thing” and “the new normal” in her People profile.

-I always forgot that Beyoncé has twins. And then she posts a photo of them and I remember all over again. Every. Single. Time.

-Also, Amber Rose says Gwyneth Paltrow is the ‘Becky with the good hair’ referenced in Beyonce‘s song ‘Sorry’. WHAT.

Meghan Markle is apparently having issues with the Queen’s bedtime rule and I can’t say I blame her. (Though I think I’d have way more trouble with the ‘you can’t keep eating if the Queen has finished her meal’ rule. That’s madness.)

Karlie Kloss posted an Insta story in which she shared screenshots of famous friends like Serena Williams (but not Taylor!) reacting to news of her engagement on FaceTime, and in doing so revealed Princess Beatrice’s private account.

Penn Badgley and Shay Mitchell‘s Lifetime series You has been given an early season 2 renewal, even though the first season hasn’t started airing yet. Considering how the book ends, I don’t get what this is going to be.

-Also, Badgley’s answer to whether he’d be up for a Gossip Girl reboot? “I’d do it if I could kill them.”

-Wait, so the Buffy reboot is not a reboot after all? It’ll just be in the same universe? Why didn’t they just say that in the first place?!? All of these reboot announcements need some serious workshopping.

-It’s official! As unbelievable as this remains to me, Kristen Stewart will lead the cast of Elizabeth BanksCharlie’s Angels reboot. (Unfortunately despite early talks, Lupita Nyong’o will not be one of the angels. They will be Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska.)

-On the Tonight Show, Nanette comedian Hannah Gadsby described her awkward first encounter with Emma Thompson, which ended with them crying on each other’s shoulders and Hannah accidentally texting Emma a photo of Chuck Norris.

-The cast of The Walking Dead did impressions of Negan in front of Jeffrey Dean MorganDanai Gurira was my fave.

-Also, Norman Reedus said he and Andrew Lincoln had a pact to leave The Walking Dead together. Oopsie!

-In a move pretty much everyone in Hollywood should copy these days, Rian Johnson has deleted all of his old tweets. He explained: “No official directive at all, and I don’t think I’ve ever tweeted anything that bad. But it’s nine years of stuff written largely off the cuff as ephemera, if trolls scrutinizing it for ammunition is the new normal, this seems like a ‘why not?’ move.”

-The critic embargo for The Spy That Dumped Me was just lifted and the reviews are…not good. Like, really. I’m still gonna watch the crap out of it, tho.

-Speaking of movies I’m going to watch the crap outta, The Hating Game is being adapted for the big screen! This is hands-down my favourite fluffy book which I re-read whenever I’m stressed. Which means I re-read it A LOT. In my fantasy casting, I see Anna Kendrick or Zoey Deutch for Lucy, and Matthew Goode or Mike Colter for Josh. Make it go, Hollywood!

-Speaking of romcoms, I love that Crazy Rich Asians is tracking high. (Also, Awkwafina is hosting the MMVAs.)

Carlton Cuse‘s adaptation of Locke & Key has finally found a home on Netflix. People *adore* this comic book.

-Despite superstar careers, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie are bringing Flight Of The Conchords back to HBO for a live special.

Natalie Portman plays a NASA space captain in Noah Hawley‘s film directorial debut. As someone on Twitter mentioned, she looks exactly like Mike from Stranger Things.

-According to the writers guild, two thirds of female writers say they experience sexual harassment on the job. That’s insane.

-The more I see of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, the more I can’t wait to watch this on Neflix!

Blake Lively Used to Send Leonardo DiCaprio Pictures of Dolls

-I’m having a rough week, so forgive me if I choose to believe this Vanity Fair interview with the Gossip Girl cast for the show’s 10-year anniversary is a personal gift to me from the universe. There’s lots of great tidbits, including how Blake Lively and Leighton  Meester “were not friends,” how Blake and Penn Badgley hid their breakup from the crew for months, and how Blake used to send photos of dolls to Leonardo DiCaprio when they dated. I also love how Leighton just sounds *so* over it, and Ed Westwick admits he still doesn’t know who Gossip Girl is.

Leah Remini says she refused to try to convert Kevin James to Scientology despite the organization pressuring her to do so. And now he’s gifted her with a sitcom role, so that all worked out for her.

-Blade Runner 2049 is rumoured to be the longest blockbuster since Interstellar. All the sighs.

-After 27 seasons—27!!!—Simpsons composer Alf Clausen has been fired.

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris are reportedly in couple’s therapy to learn how to be better co-parents. I’m rooting for them, however their family looks.

Kanye West is now being counter-sued by his insurer, who points to their drug and alcohol policies.

-Here’s the first trailer for Mr. Robot season three. I kinda forgot about that show.

-Of course TJ Miller is a frequent Yelp reviewer. Of course he is.

Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves teaming up for a movie is making my inner 90s geek so very happy.

-I feel like we’ve all talked about Justin Bieber’s testicles way too much this week, and it’s only Wednesday.

-This explanation of the Sansa/Ayra stuff from this season of Game of Thrones makes me hate it even more.

-Yikes. Katy Perry is reportedly being sued by a stagehand who lost her toe.

-I can’t believe there are no new movies at the box office this weekend. I can’t remember the last time that happened. And it’s a long weekend!

-I’m bummed that I can’t fit Alexander Payne‘s Downsizing into my TIFF schedule, especially since the reviews out of Venice are so good.
