-In a new interview with New York Magazine, Mariah Carey reveals “My All” and “The Roof” were about her brief fling with Derek Jeter, talks about how ex Eminem doesn’t make it into her memoir (“If somebody or something didn’t pertain to the actual meaning of Mariah Carey, as is the title, then they aren’t in the book”), and recalls that infamous moment when Ellen Degeneres forced her to reveal her pregnancy before she was ready and she miscarried soon after (“I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say. And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath”). My fave bit is when she chides an assistant for putting out candles during the interview (“Oh, darling. Don’t put that down there for me, because that is hideous. That is underlighting!”)

-Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran announced that he and his wife Cherry Seaborn had welcomed a baby girl last week named Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. “We are on cloud nine over here. I’ll see you when it’s time to come back.”

-The late Chadwick Boseman posthumously covers People magazine.

-Speaking of not being able to imagine being in a movie theatre, it’s wild to me that the Venice Film Festival kicks off this week and stars have started to arrive.

-Have you started the TV adaptation of Normal People? It’s great — and it’s also the reason everyone on the internet is currently lusting over the lead actor, Paul Mescal. He’s on the new cover of Wonderland.

-I’m half way through the show but the only sour note (so far) is the bizarre choice to use the overplayed “Hide and Seek” song during a pivotal scene. Why!?! But it led me to this great read on how early 2000s teen dramas set the bar for TV soundtracks. (I remember watching the screener for the Gossip Girl pilot and turning to my friend and saying “there’s no way they’ll clear all these songs when it airs.” And then they did!)

–Justin and Hailey Bieber are giving fans an “intimate look” into their quarantine lives in a new Facebook Watch reality show titled The Biebers on Watch, which premiered today. There will be 12 episode, dropping Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

–Neil Gaiman and wife Amanda Palmer seem to have split during quarantine. The fact that Palmer made her statement via a paid perk for her Patreon subscribers is both annoying and completely on brand.

-Just when you thought the world was starting to forget about Twilight, Stephenie Meyer is getting set to release Midnight Sun — a retelling of the first Twilight book from Edward’s point-of-view. It’ll come out Aug 4.

-A judge has postponed a hearing on the continuation of Britney Spears‘ conservatorship until at least August.

–Rose Byrne will play a Kellyanne Conway-esque character in Jon Stewart’s upcoming political satire. I’m so tired.

The best part of it is Bullock’s jokey admonishments (“Jennifer, I’m asking you. I’m the interviewer. Don’t ask me questions. You are to respond. Let’s just stick to the protocol” and “You’re just talking too fucking much, Jennifer. Pipe down”).

-In his new cover story for Harper’s Bazaar, Noah Centineo talks about getting sober (“I smoked a lot of things. I was really upset, man. It was a really dark time in my life”) gushes about girlfriend Alexis Ren (“It’s the longest relationship I’ve ever been in. She’s very good at monogamy. –Sandra Oh and Dan Levy met Joni Mitchell at an Oscars party and then “walked away and held each other tightly for an hour.”

-Birds of Prey is being renamed to Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. I can’t remember a time when a film has been renamed mid-release. (Also, it only cost $84M to make so it will likely make back its budget.

-Empire alum Jussie Smollett is reportedly facing new charges over his 2019 claims that he was attacked by two men.

–The Hunt now has a release date after Trump tried to get it blocked.
