The Americans’ Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys Welcome Baby

Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys in The Americans (FX)

-Congrats to The Americans costars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, who just welcomed their first child together.

-I was on vacation last week so I was not following the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard drama too closely, but every time I looked at Twitter I was disheartened by all the Amber bashing. We don’t know what really happened, but the knee-jerk reaction of the internet to jump to a male star’s defense is weird (maybe because my gut instinct is to always give the person with bruises on her face the benefit of the doubt?). She did everything an abused woman is encouraged to do — and yet the hate is strong.

-Meanwhile, Johnny’s ex Vanessa Paradis and daughter Lily-Rose have both jumped to his defense.

-In today’s ‘I don’t know how they’re friends’ edition: Charlize Theron co-hosted Emily Blunt’s baby shower.

-Shocking report: Matt LeBlanc reportedly doesn’t make a very good Top Gear host.

-Another shocking report: Chelsea Handler may not be the easiest person to work for.

George and Amal Clooney met Pope Francis at the Vatican because they’re fancy like that.

-‘Which costar would you ask to bail you out if arrested?’ is a really great interview question.

BJ Novak says Mindy Kalling used to lie to him constantly on the set of The Office just for fun. I knew I liked her.

Aisha Tyler’s latest Guy on Girl podcast with Viola Davis is fantastic!

-I was really looking forward to seeing John Carney’s new movie Sing Street because I adore Once and Begin Again, but now I’m glad I haven’t gotten around to it yet after reading his comments slamming Keira Knightley. Why is he even bringing her up in interviews? They haven’t worked together for three years. Also, I saw the TIFF premiere of Begin Again with the cast/director Q&A following the film, and Adam Levine as “unpretentious” and Keira as the diva was NOT the impression I was left with.

-Oh jeez. Jesse Eisenberg just confirmed that he’ll play Lex Luthor in another movie.

-I don’t watch Silicon Valley, but I’ve got no problem watching T.J. Miller hurl insults for nearly five minutes straight.

-Congrats to Topher Grace, who married Ashley Hinshaw in a private ceremony yesterday. Wait, isn’t that the girl from True Blood?

John Oliver‘s “how is this not a thing?” segment is fantastic. Now I need a universal safe word for getting out of small talk, bread pants, and a way to wink without looking like you’re proposing a threesome.

Dan Aykroyd loves the new Ghostbusters reboot, which is high praise seeing as the idea for Ghostbusters came from him and he remains the one who’s been trying to keep the franchise alive the hardest all this time.

-I love how Adele called people out for filming her in concert by saying “I’m really here in real life. You can enjoy it in real life, rather than through your camera.”

-The trailer for the Netflix original movie The Fundamentals Of Caring has landed — and it looks great. Paul Rudd, Selena Gomez and Jennifer “Elizabeth Bennet” Ehle. Here for it!

Maze Runner’s Dylan O’Brien Injured On Set

-It’s hard to get a handle on what exactly happened to Dylan O’Brien on the Vancouver set of the Maze Runner sequel yesterday. TMZ posted a rather alarming story about him getting run over by a car, while Deadline says he fell off a train replica and fractured his cheekbone or orbital socket. A writer on the movie tweeted that his injuries are not life-threatening, while his publicist says early indications is that he will fully recover. Whatever the case, production is shut down until he can return to set.

-If Cindy Crawford and Richard Gerber are having lunch with Harry Styles, does that mean there’s a chance that George Clooney runs in the same social circles as 1D? My mind is imploding a bit…

-I was in the middle of my ‘getting ready for work’ routine this morning (watching GMA, trying to find my other shoe, forgetting that I need to keep the curtains closed at my new condo and giving an eyeful to the creepy dude across the street — the usual) and the most beautiful thing in the world stopped me in my tracks: a kitty litter commercial came on starring Katherine Heigl! This is what happens after you’re publicly scorned by Shonda Rhimes.

Tori Spelling once almost hit Matt LeBlanc with her car. Come on. Episodes isn’t *that* bad.

-I don’t watch Supernatural, but I do enjoy their blooper reels.

-Also, I don’t watch Scandal but I read the hell out of Scott Foley and Josh Malina’s recap blog. It’s basically just a weekly flirt fest.

Blake Shelton is suing In Touch for $2 million for saying he has a drinking problem and was caught by Miranda Lambert at their home with a bunch of naked women. So, that’s a ‘no’ on their article, then?

Sean Penn was seen kissing a mystery blonde — which means he’s not kissing Minka Kelly. Whew!

Kim Kardashian is not good at Snapchat, which is weirdly charming (possibly because I, too, am not good at Snapchat).

-Here’s the first teaser for Netflix’s Luke Cage. Screw Daredevil. Gimme all of this instead!

-The season two trailer for Catastrophe has landed. Did you watch the first season? So short but so good! (Also, this trailer is soundtracked to “S.O.B.” so I’m automatically programmed to love it.)

Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant just signed on to a Netflix romantic comedy series. Want!

-It’s been a long week. Here’s a dog dog licking Ryan Reynolds.

-Um, is this poster for Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe‘s new movie for reals?

-Well, this makes me feel way better about quitting Sleepy Hollow last year.

Alan Cummings‘ Instagram feed makes it look like The Good Wife cast actually gets along. Does…not…compute…

-If the shark manages to actually bite Blake Lively, I’m going to watch the crap out of this movie.

Matthew Goode and Matthew Rhys are learning to be sommeliers in this clip from their wine show. God, I want to marry this series so much already and it hasn’t even debuted!

Rihanna Lands on British Vogue

Rihanna-British-Vogue

-Man, I hate the cover photo they chose of Rihanna for British Vogue, but the interior shots make up for it. On the plus side, it’s comforting to know that even Rihanna can’t make work a hazy,  pink-tinged shot of her in an outfit that looks like something Victoria Principal’s Dallas stunt double rejected.

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski are dating. I’m just gonna leave this blind item from a few months ago right here

Gillian Anderson has trolled David Duchovny about those red speedos for more than two decades now and it will never, ever get old.

Bernadette Peters‘ comments about how she eats ruined my entire day. She ate a contraband slice of boiled potato? She doesn’t keep crackers in her house for fear she’ll eat them? CRACKERS?!

Jennifer Garner not only knows how to play the saxophone, but she used to have one named “Sally The Sexy Saxophone.” We need to consider this when we talk about her masterful Vanity Fair interview.

-The LAPD is testing a knife a police officer allegedly found buried on O.J. Simpson’s property, which he kept because  he “believed case was closed.” What? (Meanwhile, my brother and I binged on FX’s OJ show last weekend. Holy crap, it’s good!)

-This is so meta: TV creator Rob Thomas just cast singer Rob Thomas on iZombie.

-I forgot about Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch. Now I’m happy all over again!

Gwyneth Paltrow has once again referred to Chris Martin as “like my brother.” That will never not be funny.

Kendrick Lamar dropped a surprise album on Spotify last night, and the internet lost its shit (at least, the part of the internet that wasn’t already losing its shit over The 100).

-I gave up on all iterations of The Walking Dead awhile ago, but I’m intrigued by the premise of season 2’s Fear the Walking Dead (only because my entire zombie apocalypse survival plan involves stealing a yacht and heading to sea…)

-A Golden Girls oral history? Cancel my weekend plans!

-Hottie actors Matthew Goode and Matthew Rhys have teamed up for a wine show, and the first trailer has arrived. I haven’t even seen the first ep yet, and I’m already convinced this is going to be my favourite show in the history of time.
