Daisy Ridley Covers British GQ

-I don’t know why British GQ styled Daisy Ridley like a mechanic, but I’m kind of here for it? I also dig her comments about royalty: “I’m going to tell you something so shocking for Americans but not Brits; I don’t massively care about the royal family. I am not a royalist. Buckingham Palace is great but it’s an unused building, isn’t it? The other day, there was a story that the Queen uses six rooms in the palace. Six. How is that a good thing? It’s prime real estate.”

-I was really worried when I saw that Princess Anne was trending this morning, but it turns out it’s just because she’s a badass. She was part of the conversation with Trudeau in which he and other world leaders mocked Trump, and then was scolded by the Queen when she refused to meet with him. I think I love her.

Tom Hanks, Shia LaBeouf, Robert De Niro, Adam Driver, Jamie Foxx and Adam Sandler take part in THR’s drama actors roundtable, and it’s a pretty decent discussion (though De Niro barely talks). I like Hanks’ view on comedy: “Can you be funny if you grew up with a built-in swimming pool in your backyard? I don’t think you can. If you grew up being able to swim any time you wanted to, you experienced none of the shortcomings of life that you turn into self-deprecation. You can’t do it.”

Kesha is throwing her name into the mix of stars who have entered the cosmetics world with the launch of her makeup line, Kesha Rose Beauty.

Camila Morrone has no problem with her 23-year age gap with boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio. “There’s so many relationships in Hollywood—and in the history of the world—where people have large age gaps. I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”

Jennifer Lopez is hosting SNL this weekend, and I wish they’d given her a better promo.

-Bad news: that Michael Jackson musical appears to be going forward, and it will be “a part-puppet show in which the late singer’s alleged history of child sex abuse is blamed on a glove-shaped alien forcing Jackson to feed on boys.” Good news: despite earlier reports, rep for Johnny Depp says that he and his company are not producing or involved in any way.

-This is terrible: Mena Massoud says he couldn’t get an audition after starring in Aladdin, which made $1B.

-Riverdale costars Camila Mendes and Charles Melton are no longer dating…for now.

-If I currently looked like Kate Beckinsale does at 46, I’d be unapologetic about posing in a bikini too.

Daniel Craig is back as Bond in the No Time to Die trailer. I’m loving that Léa Seydoux is in this. I’ve only seen her in weird French movies and I love her.

Mariah Carey Is Ready for the Holidays

Mariah Carey kicked off xmas music season with a very cute video.

-Is Pink wearing a giant slinky earring in her Billboard photo shoot, and if so where can I get one?

Jane Fonda‘s mission to get arrested every Friday during climate protests continues — and this time she brought Rosanna Arquette and Catherine Keener along.

Olivia Colman and Phoebe Waller-Bridge covered Portishead’s “Glory Box” on a ukulele for charity and the video will make you wanna fist pump through the ceiling.

-Suits spinoff Pearson has been cancelled after a single season. I didn’t watch it but Gina Torres deserves to be a bigger star than she is.

Stephen Amell just announced that Emily Bett Rickards will be returning for Arrow’s series finale and this makes me happier than I should probably publicly admit.

-I love that Reese Witherspoon had it written into her Legally Blonde contract that she got to keep the 77 pairs of Jimmy Choos she wore. Genius.

-Between being on Fallon last night (where she dressed up like a bloody baseball player/dead socially irrelevant heteronormative gender roles) to hosting SNL this weekend, we’re getting a lot of Kristen Stewart content. I’m not mad about it.

Leonardo DiCaprio posted photos of him with Greta Thunberg, and Twitter did its thing.

Rosie O’Donnell and fiancee Elizabeth Rooney have reportedly split.

Joey King says working with her ex-boyfriend Jacob Elord on The Kissing Booth 2 was “fine.” Somebody give that girl a (completely consensual) hug.

-Was not expecting a Jennifer Garner duet with opera singer Andrea Bocelli but this week is weird so sure.

-There’s a new Into the Spiderverse movie coming our way!

Issa Rae and LaKeith Stanfield star in the trailer for The Photograph.

Alanis Morissette Talks Pregnancies and Postpartum

Alanis Morissette Self

-I’ve been following Nicole Cliffe on Twitter for a while because she’s hilarious, and it turns out she’s also a pretty amazing feature writer. Her first big profile is Self’s digital cover with Alanis Morissette, and the result is a really frank, emotionally honest chat that delves deep into the singer’s pregnancies, labors and postpartum episodes. Morissette also talks about how her husband uses the concept of “provisioning” as a way of detaching money/breadwinning from providing for the family, and how her past traumas have informed her parenting strategy (“I talk about this with my kids a lot, the four boundaries being: You can’t tell me what I’m thinking; you can’t tell me what I’m feeling; you can’t f*cking touch my body/you can’t do anything with my body; and don’t touch my stuff”). Definitely worth your time.

-Speaking of cover stories that are worth your time, Janelle Monáe talks about trans rights in her new Paper interview.

-Another great profile is this one on Sienna Miller, who talks about the obstacles she faced early in her career and how the NYT did her dirty by referring to Jude Law as a “fling” and listing her alleged sexual conquests in a profile — but when they profiled Law they called her a “three-year relationship and engagement.”

-Is this Jeremy Renner tweet a joke? Because if he was really trying to transition into music, he would surely hire a professional to make a better video teaser than this. Right?!?

Leonardo DiCaprio got hit in the face with a volleyball and Twitter came through with the jokes.

Mindy Kaling‘s Late Night underperformed at the box office. Between this, The Long Shot and Book Smart, what a disappointing summer for smart, female-focused films.

Cardi B gets as naked as you can appear in a video without getting banned from YouTube in her “Press” clip.

-Everyone is freaking out about The Office leaving Netflix, and how they won’t be able to stream it. Am I so old that if I love a show THAT much, I just buy the DVD boxset and not worry about never having access to it? I bought a season of TV last month that I will probably never take out of the shrink wrap, but I just feel better *knowing* I can. It’s also very strange that The Office and Friends have reached mythical legend status just because of their Netflix popularity with the young ‘uns. I would love for Netflix to someday give that sort of boost to less mainstream sitcoms like Happy Endings or Better Off Ted.

Britney Spears‘ dad is allegedly suing a blogger for perpetuating the #FreeBritney conspiracy theory.

-This is sad: Dog the Bounty Hunter star Beth Chapman has died of cancer at 51.

-The Game of Thrones cast looks horrified when confronted with footage of their younger selves in the first season.

-In his anniversary post to Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban calls her “baby girl.” I read a book last week that I almost didn’t finish for no other reason than the protagonist’s boyfriend kept calling her that and I couldn’t deal with it because it came across as so infantilizing.

This article on the making of Mad Men’s “not great Bob” meme is a treat, with Vincent Kartheiser providing the perfect kicker. (Sidenote: I was once an extra in a movie he was in. He was…something.)

-Orange is the New Black’s final teaser sees Piper adjusting to life outside prison.
