-The stars of Charlie’s Angels are featured on EW’s new digital cover. Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska and Elizabeth Banks talk about creating a global spy thriller that lacks the franchise’s infamous male gaze.

-In the new issue of Elle, Lady Gaga talks to Oprah about her relationship with Bradley Cooper.

-This piece by Billie Lourd about her mom, Carrie Fisher, is devastatingly good. “Losing my mom is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. I lost my best friend… And I inherited this weird, intimidating thing called her legacy.”

-I hate that Lizzo’s British Vogue cover is so blurry. I guess it’s supposed to be artistic or something, but hard pass.

-Greetings, Upper Eastsiders! Kristen Bell will return as the narrator on the new Gossip Girl reboot. xoxo!

-Speaking of Bell, I will never be able to reconcile how she and Dax Shepard are so vocal about privacy and protecting their family (as they should be!), but all of their endorsement deals revolve around spotlighting a happy family dynamic.

-Jesus. Not only is there an the increasingly loud whisper network about Jeff Goldblum, now he’s defending Woody Allen: “I think there is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.”

-Everything old is new again: Mary-Louise Parker is set to return as Nancy Botwin in a Weeds revival. I loved the first few seasons of that show, but no.

–Donald Trump Jr. when on The View today and it turned into a total shitshow. Whoopi Goldberg ended up shutting it down.

–T.I.‘s daughter subtly responded to all the conversation about her hymen, thanking her followers for their support.

-As a refreshing counterpoint to T.I., here’s Ethan Hawke talking about his daughter’s sexuality.

–Drake is the latest celeb to get into the cannabis game: “The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever-growing has been inspiring.”

–Jason Momoa tried to teach James Corden how to shoot a bow and arrow and crack an egg with a whip. It went about as well as you’d expect.

-Speaking of Momoa, he still has a job: Apple has already renewed four of its new shows: For All Mankind, See, Dickinson, and The Morning Show.

-And the next Met Costume Institute theme is… time.

-I’m a few episodes behind but I agree with this piece on how surprisingly good Stumptown is.

-Considering the lukewarm reviews the new season of Netflix’s The End of the F***ing World is getting, I’m just going to pretend it ended with last season’s perfect finale.

-This clip of Chris Evans and his brother answering questions about each other made me laugh out loud multiple times.

-I have recently started watching Bon Appetit’s Gourmet Makes before bed and what a delightful way to de-stress at the end of the day! Bless Vulture for ranking all 28 YouTube videos!

-The trailer landed for Vanessa Hudgens’s latest Netflix holiday movie and yeah, I need this pumped directly into my eyeballs.

–Elisabeth Moss is haunted by her abusive ex in the trailer for The Invisible Man.

Veronica Mars Arrives Early, Screws Up Our Weekend

-Well, here’s a kick in the pants. During the Veronica Mars Comic Con panel, Kristen Bell announced that all the new episodes are now available on Hulu — a week early. (Crave TV dropped it early here in Canada, too.)  Instead of being ecstatic, most fans on my Twitter TL are pissed. I get it — people hadn’t finished their rewatches. Plus, I had plans this weekend and now I just wanna curl up and watch it. No to mention that from a publicity point of view it’s just dumb. The fans who would generate the most buzz were at that Comic Con panel and are now angry that they have to decide if they want to hole up in their hotel room bingeing it instead of attending the event they spent hundreds of dollars on. Not to mention that every TV writer who was going to cover their panel is now scrapping those stories and their previews in order to quickly pull together their recaps. Just dumb.

-In less infuriating Kristen Bell news, she and Lin-Manuel Miranda met each other at Comic Con and had a mutual lovefest/freakout.

–Jamie Lee Curtis announced two final Halloween movies at Comic Con.

-The Avengers cast didn’t make it to Comic Con, but a bunch of them sent cute video messages.

–Miley Cyrus is trying to jump on the “hot girl summer” trend, with unfortunate results.

-Yet another CW actress is getting the opportunity to direct an episode of her show. Love.

-Speaking of the CW, Brandon Routh will once again suit up as Superman for the Arrowverse crossover, which is super fun.

-I agree with this entire take about why Chris Pratt is the worst Chris.

-I love this Natasha Lyonne photo shoot!

-I’m trying not to get too excited about the adaptation of The Hating Game, but they just cast goddess Gina Torres as Lucy’s boss!

-Brad Pitt grapples with his father’s actions in the new trailer for Ad Astra.

 

 

 

Ariana Grande Recalls “Frivolous and Fun” Relationship with Pete Davidson

-In her new Vogue cover story, Ariana Grande reflects on her short-lived relationship with Pete Davidson. “My friends were like, ‘Come [to New York]! We’re gonna have a fun summer.’ And then I met Pete, and it was an amazing distraction. It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him.” She also released a new video.

-In her Cosmopolitan cover story, Mariah Carey talks about getting married to music executive Tommy Mottola when she was 23 and he was 44. “You might want to picture a child bride. There was a conscious effort to keep me as this all-American, whatever that means, girl. It was very controlled. There was no ­freedom for me as a human being. It was almost like being a prisoner.”

–Serena Williams‘ cheeky Harper’s Bazaar cover photo is amazing – and unretouched!

-The September edition of Vogue is a very big deal — and Meghan Markle is set to guest edit the British version.

–Katherine McPhee and David Foster‘s wedding got a Vogue spread. Huh. I would have bet on People magazine.

–Aziz Ansari’s Netflix special starts and ends with reflections on getting caught up in the #MeToo movement — but in between he seems to pretend it never happened.

–Evan Rachel Wood thinks Chief Hopper on Stranger Things is a problematic TV love interest. I mean, sure he was really grumpy this last season, but out of all the morally questionable dudes on TV right now, this seems like a strange target.

-I love this clip of Winona Ryder refusing to listen to David Harbour make fun of his size.

–Kristen Bell says she will keep making Veronica Mars as long as they let her. And we’ll keep watching it!

-It took a while, but Nicki Minaj eventually decided to cancel her concert in Saudi Arabia following backlash.

–Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul debuted their tequila collab and everyone’s like “cool but what about Breaking Bad tho?”

-Netflix just took another big (but expected) hit: Friends is officially leaving Netflix and moving to WarnerMedia’s streaming service — the terribly named HBO Max. As the TV critic for the New York Times tweeted: “The fact that the biggest story in TV over the next year will be a competition among the decades-old sitcom reruns on streaming TV services really sums up something about pop culture right now.”

-I’m pretty over the Disney remakes, but good on them for not making the new Mulan movie a shot-for-shot remake, and for dropping the original’s problematic characters and songs.
