-Super news! Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood are expecting their first child.

Natalie Maines is most likely singing about her ex-husband, Heroes star Adrian Pasdar, in the Dixie Chicks‘ new single “Gaslighter.” Sample lyrics include: “We moved to California and we followed your dreams…Hollywood welcomed you with open doors but no matter what they gave you, you still wanted more.”

-Due to the coronavirus, the release of the new James Bond movie No Time to Die, which was supposed to hit theatres next month, will be postponed until November.

Ronan Farrow said on Tuesday that he would cut ties with his publisher, Hachette Book Group, after they hid from him that they were publishing Woody Allen’s autobiography next month: “It’s wildly unprofessional in multiple obvious directions for Hachette to behave this way. But it also shows a lack of ethics and compassion for victims.” Did they think that the world’s leading investigative journalist wasn’t going to figure it out?

Drake is getting criticized for calling his baby mama a “fluke” on his new track.

Jessica Biel celebrated her birthday with hubby Justin Timberlake and posted some pics of it where her ring is very visible.

-The Way Back’s director Gavin O’Connor says the film was in jeopardy when Ben Affleck relapsed just before filming, and Jennifer Garner begged him to not give up on the actor. “He ended up going to rehab, and I didn’t know if the movie was over. The studio certainly thought the movie was over. His ex–wife Jennifer Garner called me up, and told me that when he went to rehab, he took a basketball with him. She said, ‘Gavin, he’s asking you, please don’t pull the plug on the movie, he really wants to do this.'”

-Meanwhile, on Kimmel last night Affleck choked up when explaining how Adam Driver saved his son’s birthday. When the birthday present for his Star Wars obsessed 8-year-old didn’t arrive in time, Driver, Affleck’s costar in The Last Duel, sent a big pile of Kylo Ren merch and signed stuff. “Adam made me a hero to my kid, and I will never, ever, ever forget it.”

-Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere, which stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington as clashing mothers, is getting good reviews. I was going to watch it anyway because of Joshua Jackson, but that’s nice.

-Meanwhile, Us Weekly has a story about how Joshua Jackson was “heartbroken” over the end of his decade-long relationship with Diane Kruger before meeting his now-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith. If he’s feeling any residual sadness, I’m available for hugs.

Britney Spears‘ son Jayden did an Instagram Live yesterday, where he called grandfather Jamie “a pretty big dick,” said he liked his mom’s boyfriend, praised dad Kevin Federline as “literally Jesus”, and said if he gets 5000 Instagram followers he’ll spill more about his family life.

Sophie Turner Thought Joe Jonas Would “Be a Dick”

sophie-turner-elle-joe-jonas

Sophie Turner is on the latest cover of Elle. She talks about the controversial Game of Thrones finale (“You can’t make every fan happy”), and her low expectations for her first date with Joe Jonas (“I thought he would be such a dick. I took all my guy friends with me to meet him, because in the back of my mind I was worried he could be a catfish or—I don’t know what…He didn’t bring security. He brought a friend, and they drank just as hard as the rest of us. I remember the two of us spending only a couple of minutes on the dance floor, and then we just found a space far in the corner and we just talked. We talked for hours, and hours, and hours. And I was, like, not bored. It wasn’t contrived. It wasn’t small talk—it was just so easy. And soon we were, like, inseparable”).

-Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer covers British Vogue, and talks about finding love: “I’m very much in it. I’d been single for a while and just kind of going with the flow and doing my thing. That’s the thing, isn’t it? When you’re relaxed and letting the universe do what it’s doing, things kind of fall into place. Which is very much what happened.”

-Despite Jessica Biel being spotted without her wedding ring a few days ago, Justin Timberlake made a gushy birthday post for her on Insta today, writing “Happy Birthday to the LOVE of my life… A new adventure every day and a treasure to me. I can’t wait to share many more of these with you.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a packed schedule in the UK this week, but their 10-month-old is reportedly staying in Canada with his nanny.

-According to The Sun (so take it with a giant grain of salt), The Queen summoned Harry for a four hour chat about his future on Sunday, telling him: “You are much loved and will always be welcomed back.”

Elisabeth Moss, who doesn’t like to publicly talk about Scientology, managed to deftly dodge a question about whether or not she was ever engaged to Tom Cruise.

-After complaining about her recording contract on Instagram earlier this week, Megan Thee Stallion filed a lawsuit against 1501 Certified Entertainment, alleging — among other things — that the label leaked a story that broke early last month about her past arrest.

-I really liked this article on how Veronica Mars lost sight of itself in its last season — and how that’s best encapsulated in how it treated Weevil. It’s been months and I still see angry tweets about that show. They had such a dedicated fandom and they’ll never get it back, no matter what the future holds.

-On Ellen today, she asked Justin Bieber how many kids he wanted and he said “It’s up to Hailey because it’s her body.” I mean, that’s nice in theory but he should definitely have an opinion on this.

-Good on Radheyan Simonpillai for questioning Run This Town’s director and cast about erasing Robyn Doolittle from the Rob Ford story.

-Following yesterday’s explosive rape allegation against Timothy Hutton, his Fox show Almost Family was cancelled. The decision to not renew the show was likely made before this (the network didn’t order additional episodes and recently burned off the remaining ones on Saturdays), but were it not for the rape accusation, Fox likely would have waited until the upfronts in May to release the cast from their contracts and make it official.

-I stopped watching Grey’s Anatomy years ago (and judging from my Twitter TL, it’s going through a serious rut right now) but I’m happy that Beanie Feldstein got to live out her dream.

-I watched a couple of episodes of Star Trek: Picard and didn’t keep up with it, but these photos of him reuniting with Riker and Troi are very sweet and almost make me want to jump back in.

-I’m still not done Love Is Blind so I don’t know how everyone ends up, but Lauren was the only person on that show who wasn’t even a little bit terrible so I’m glad she’s happy.

-Also, there’s a reunion special airing Thursday and Netflix released a clip from it. Amber‘s gonna Amber.

-Devs, Alex Garland‘s foray into TV, seems to be dividing critics. For every critic I see raving about it, there’s another saying it’s terrible.

-Not up for debate is Better Things (which Pamela Aldon writes, directs and stars in), which returns this week. Season four is getting glowing reviews. I want to shout from the rooftops how good this show is!

-Star Wars continues to retroactively explain The Rise of Skywalker, months after the film was released. The new novelization of the movie reveals how Palpatine came back. Once again for those in the back: if your plot or character motivations were this important, MAKE IT CLEAR IN THE MOVIE.

-The only people who should be wearing masks to prevent the spread of Covid-19 are people showing symptoms of the disease, health care workers, and those caring for people with Covid-19 at home. But celebrities’ Insta posts are helping to fuel the dangerous misconception that everyone needs them.

Mark Ruffalo plays twins in the trailer for HBO’s upcoming adaptation of I Know This Much To Be True.

SZA Makes It To The Other Side

sza-rolling-stone

-I know she seems to hate it for some reason, but SZA’s Rolling Stone cover story is really good! She tries to temper expectations about her next release (“Music is coming out this year for sure. An album? Strong words”), talks about coming to terms with fame (“I’ve been in the airport on the way to see my grandmother on life support and [fans] are like, ‘‘Aw, girl, what are you doing here? Can I get this picture now?'”) and addresses the devastating loss of her grandmother (“I didn’t want to make music. I didn’t. I was just trying to not kill myself, and not quit, period. Because it was really fucking hard, and lonely as fuck”).

-She also released the video for “The Other Side,” her collab with Justin Timberlake for the Trolls World Tour soundtrack.

-The Johnny Depp apologists who were all over Twitter a couple of weeks ago seem strangely silent today. According to text messages read out in court this week, Depp once texted actor pal Paul Bettany: “Let’s burn Amber [Heard]…Let’s drown her before we burn her!!! I will f–k her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she is dead.” Depp is in London for a preliminary hearing in his libel suit against British newspaper The Sun over an article that alleged Depp had been abusive to Heard. The texts were revealed in court after previous lawyers for Depp had accidentally shared 70,000 messages from and to the actor with The Sun’s legal team — by mistake!

Prince Harry spoke at a conference for his sustainable travel initiative Travalyst in Edinburgh today and asked to just be called Harry.

BTSappearance on Carpool Karaoke was super cute. Dammit, I’m going to have to learn all their names and pick one to stan, aren’t I?

-Not surprisingly, Jennifer Garner‘s boyfriend John Miller is reportedly “uncomfortable” with Ben Affleck‘s candid interviews in which he keeps talking about how his biggest regret was their divorce.

Adrien Brody is reportedly dating Marchesa fashion designer Georgina Chapman, who is Harvey Weinstein’s ex-wife.

George Clooney said he was “surprised and saddened” to learn of the investigation involving Nespresso farms and child labour. “Clearly this board and this company still have work to do.”

Ryan Murphy‘s American Horror Story is not my jam, but that series has the best casting on TV today. Season’s 10 cast was just announced, with Macaulay Culkin joining Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Evan Peters.

-The latest Quibi trailer gives us blink-and-you’ll-miss-it looks at their new shows starring Anna Kendrick, Liam Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Sophie Turner, Will Forte, Bill Murray, Rachel Brosnahan, Laurence Fishburne, Chrissy Teigen, Don Cheadle and Lena Waithe.  The AV Club has a list of all the major offerings (so far).

Steven Spielberg won’t direct Indiana Jones 5, with James Mangold in talks to replace him.

-The This Is Us cast is out here doing TikTok challenges.

Hilary Duff shaded Disney+, implying the Lizzie McGuire revival is on hold because it was considered too mature for the streaming service.

Taylor Swift is releasing a new video tomorrow for “The Man” – which she directed. It’s my least favourite song on the album because it’s so very on the nose but I’m interested in what she does behind the camera.

-I have no interest in watching Amazon’s Hunters starring Al Pacino so I read this spoilery review. The big twist sounds hella dumb.

-The people behind Invisible Man created a bunch of scary stunts for the junket. I hate this. These things are stressful enough; journalists are just trying to do their jobs.

-This whole thread about nice celebrity encounters made me happy.

Octavia Spencer plays a millionaire in a new trailer for the upcoming Netflix series Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker.
