Kristen Stewart Is Pretty in Pink on Vanity Fair

–Kristen Stewart covers Vanity Fair’s September issue, opening up about her career path, her on-again girlfriend Stella Maxwell, her belief in ghosts, and how she eventually recovered from Twilight mania. The video of her going through her film roles is incredibly charming. (I only wish she would have continued talking about Clouds of Sils Maria and explained the ending ’cause I’m still confused.)

–Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have taken their summer lovefest to the beach. If this is real, it’s A LOT.

-On What What Happens Live, Andy Cohen pressed Tituss Burgess on his co-star Eddie Murphy being “very problematic for the gays” and the Kimmy Schmidt star did not appreciate it. The actor then posted on Instagram that Cohen can be “a messy queen.”

-Look, the Cats movie is probably going to be a trash but at least it gifted us with this clip of Idris Elba trying to teach Stephen Colbert how to walk like a cat.

-I don’t believe for a second that Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Garner are dating, but they’ve been friends since Alias so I’m actually surprised it took tabloids this long to put them together.

–Lady Gaga‘s rumoured new boyfriend is an audio engineer who worked with her on her Vegas residency.

–Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner got matching tats in honour of their late dog, who was killed last week by a hit and run.

-Man, early buzz for Mindy Kaling‘s Four Weddings And A Funeral adaptation wasn’t great, but the reviews are out now and they’re really, really negative. (Indiewire didn’t hate it, tho!)

–Lil Nas X is getting love from Mariah Carey, whose Billboard record he just surpassed.

–Donald Glover‘s alter ego Childish Gambino is covering songs by Garth Brooks’ alter ego Chris Gaines. My head hurts.

-I love that Sarah Michelle Gellar started a meal train for Selma Blair when she got sick.

–Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson lose their sanity in The Lighthouse trailer.

–Joss Whedon‘s new show is a Victorian sci-fi series and I’m already exhausted.

-Disney’s box office domination continues as four of its 2019 titles have joined the billion-dollar club and it’s barely August. (Just wait until the new Frozen and Star Wars movies drop.)

-Twelve strangers (including Betty Gilpin, Justin Hartley, Ike Barinholtz and Emma Roberts) wake up in a clearing, not knowing how they got there — or that Hilary Swank now plans to hunt them down for sport in the trailer for the aptly named The Hunt.

The Angel Cast Reunites For EW

-I may have actually squealed out loud when I saw EW’s new cover in honour of Angel’s 20th anniversary. The story and video roundtable are both great — though it’s a little weird that they totally gloss over Glenn Quinn‘s death. And they completely ignore how terrible Joss Whedon treated Charisma Carpenter when she told him she was pregnant, and how she agreed to go back for the 100th episode only if they promised not to kill off her character — only to find out on the day of the shoot that they were killing her off.

–Claire Danes interviewed her My So-Called Life costar Wilson Cruz for Variety’s Pride issue. “We had a time.” *sob*

–Greg Berlanti talks about the old casting practices in Hollywood: “There were certain execs who would say, ‘Does this actor seem a little soft?’ They would use code words, but I knew what they meant because I was a gay person.”

-An Easy A spinoff is in the works. YAY!! (I reserve the right to rescind that yay if Emma Stone and Penn Badgley aren’t in it.)

-Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis set the record straight on their split rumors with a funny IG video.

–According to The Blast, Drake paid $350,000 to Instagram model to settle claim that the rapper forced her to perform ‘fetish’ oral sex that involved spitting into a measuring cup.

-This interview with Pamela Adlon about how she approached the last season of Better Things is so good.

–Michael Sheen sharing Good Omens fanfic and defending it is a mood.

-Killing Eve and Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge talks about being hired to add some depth and humor to the script for the new James Bond film. “The important thing is that the film treats women properly. He doesn’t have to.”

-This is a super cute video of Jennifer Garner doing charity work. I listened to her episode on the David Tennant podcast, and her work with Save the Children sounds like a fulltime job when she’s not filming, not the typical celebrity showboating.

-I really related to this article about “cord-clingers” — people who are getting more out of a cable subscription than the various streaming services.

–Kevin Sorbo being called out by his female costars on Twitter is glorious.

-I’m seeing Celeste Barber this weekend and I. Can’t. Wait.

–Tiffany Haddish, Eric Andre and Lil Rel Howery‘s new movie Bad Trip features pranks against real people. I hate this hidden camera stuff so much, I couldn’t even make it all the way through this.

-The new Lion King promo features Beyoncé and Donald Glover singing “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.”

-The trailer for Midsommer, Ari Aster‘s followup to Hereditary, looks creep af.

 

Harvey Weinstein Breaks His Silence

–Harvey Weinstein just broke his silence (oh goodie) according to quotes in The Spectator, in which he blames his women troubles on being ugly and says “Yes, I did offer them acting jobs in exchange for sex, but so did and still does everyone. But I never, ever forced myself on a single woman.” His lawyer was quick to step in, saying “Mr. Weinstein never said anything about trading movie roles for sexual favors. You have my word that Harvey did not say that.” The writer has since walked back the quote, saying “We were discussing Hollywood and I may have misunderstood certain things about the methods of that place” — though the quotes are still up on the Spectator’s website.

-Over 40 celebs, including Rose McGowan, Paz de la Huerta, Terry Crews, Mira Sorvino, and Anthony Rapp, signed an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times asking people to stop blaming Asia Argento for boyfriend Anthony Bourdain’s death.

–Henry Cavill has been shamed into an apology for his stupid #MeToo statements (though he took pains to point out that “This experience has taught me a valuable lesson as to the context and the nuance of editorial liberties” cause, you know, saying a flirt can be confused for a rapist is clearly something that can be misquoted and taken out of context by those meanie journalists!)

-Speaking of taking action after a public shaming, Scarlett Johansson has dropped out of the movie in which she was set to depict a trans man.

-Did Ariana Grande just sweep in late to claim the song of the summer? ‘Cause that video is kinda everything.

-I don’t even go here, but it’s pretty neat that Downton Abbey’s original cast will reunite for a big screen movie adaption.

-The timeline Amanda Seyfried tries to portray in regards to her relationship with Thomas Sadoski doesn’t quite line up, does it?

-I keep forgetting that Neil Gaiman is adapting Good Omens for TV, and then every time I’m reminded it’s like Christmas morning all over again!

-No, YOU cried over this video of Jonathan Van Ness reacting to his double Emmy noms for Queer Eye and Gay of Thrones.

–Yvette Nicole Brown is going to step in to host The Walking Dead preview special as AMC “works to complete our assessment related to Chris Hardwick.”

–Joss Whedon is returning to TV full-time with HBO’s straight-to-series sci-fi Victorian drama The Nevers. HBO reportedly beat out Netflix to nab the series. I know he’s problematic af, but I just can’t help but be intrigued…

–Miley Cyrus just went social media dark. Either she’s about to announce a new project, or she’s just tired of competing with Will Smith’s hilarious video edits.

-I get the biggest smile whenever I read this Vulture reporter’s interviews with Sandra Oh.  They’re just so cute with each other!

–Paula Abdul’s Forever Your Girl album is turning 30. I watched the new Whitney doc last night (which is so, so good!) and there was the best Abdul slam in it. My theatre collectively gasped.

-The Bay suddenly pulled all Ivanka Trump products due to “performance.”

–Michael Pena fights aliens in Netflix’s Extinction.

–Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick strike up an unlikely friendship in Paul Feig’s A Simple Favor.
