-Congrats to David Harbour and Lily Allen, who got married in Las Vegas on Monday. The Stranger Things actor and British songstress were wed by an Elvis impersonator and ate In-n-Out burgers with her daughters for a reception, which sounds like perfection.

Selena Gomez graces the new issue of Allure Magazine wearing a LaQuan Smith dress. In the interview, she talks about early career pressure (“I just did things that weren’t really me. There was pressure to seem more adult on my album, Revival…the need to show skin… I really don’t think I was [that] person”) and why she never googles her name (“I haven’t done that in years. I honestly can’t. I’m strong in a lot of ways, but I think I just have way too much of a sensitive heart”).

-The Glorias star Alicia Vikander covers British Elle and talks about her woke upbringing: “I grew up in a house with a mother who taught me about the word feminism from the age of five.”

-I hate this dress on Cate Blanchett at Venice, but I’m also supremely happy to have an opportunity to hate red carpet dresses again.

-Sex Education season 3 is back in production for Netflix and the cast shot a cute video for it.

-Following a flurry of sightings/photographs of Jacob Elordi and rumoured new girlfriend Kaia Gerber coming out of NYC, the Kissing Booth actor took to Instagram to remind fans “I am a human being.”

-There were lots of headlines today about AMC’s announcement that The Walking Dead is ending. Technically it is, but it will end with a supersized 11th season that will feature 24 episodes stretched out over two years, followed by a spinoff starring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride (I gave up years ago, but are Carol and Daryl finally a thing?!), and a possible anthology series. Not to mention there’s still the Rick Grimes movies, and Fear the Walking Dead.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are now asking up to $1 million for speaking engagements. If people will pay it, why not?

-FX revealed today that Donald Glover and his team have already finished writing the next two seasons of Atlanta and are planning to shoot them back to back (with one mostly filming in Europe and the other in Atlanta) but the pandemic has pushed back production.

Ryan Reynolds brought Rick Moranis back for a cellphone commercial and I love it. He stepped away from acting to raise his kids after his wife passed away, and he deserves a comeback.

Susan Sarandon is back on her bullshit again. Every damn election.

-Sources say Sacha Baron Cohen has secretly shot Borat 2 and has already screened it for a few industry people.

-Surprising no one, Jessica Mulroney appears to be far from “cancelled.”

-The Oscars just outlined a bunch of new diversity requirements for Best Picture nominees and at first it seems huge, but they actually seem ridiculously easy to achieve, especially for big studios. Kirstie Alley is angry about it, so at least that’s amusing.

-TIFF reversed its face mask policy today after the trades picked it up and ran with it yesterday. I’m avoiding all of their indoor screenings anyway, but they are keeping 3 empty seats to either side of assigned seats and an empty row in between used rows, which is way better than any other theatre’s standards in Toronto right now.

-According to the LA Times, Keeping up with the Kardashians is ending because of a live ratings decline (it peaked with the Season 4 finale in 2010 with 4.8 million total viewers, while the most recent episode had just 810,000 total viewers), the network tightening its belt (they axed the “E! News” program last month after 29 years), and the changing landscape of TV, which sees celebrities getting more reach with younger audiences on social media platforms than traditional television shows.

-Hulu just released the trailer for their new limited series A Teacher, in which Kate Mara plays a high school teacher who has an inappropriate relationship with a student, played by Love Simon’s Eric Walker. I hate the gross, assault-y premise of this.

Jason Momoa shared a message of support for his Justice League co-star Ray Fisher, who spoke out against Joss Whedon.

-The first trailer for Dune dropped today and it’s a Denis Villeneuve joint so it looks predictably gorgeous, but man, they don’t even try to explain the plot at all to those who might not know it.

-In news that should surprise absolutely no one, there’s whispers that Warner Bros is preparing to push back the release dates for Dune and Wonder Woman 1984. Just let us pay to watch them at home.

Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander rise up in the trailer for Julie Taymor‘s Gloria Steinem biopic The Glorias.

Zendaya Is Stunning In InStyle

zendaya instyle september 2020

Zendaya covers the September issue of InStyle, styled by Law Roach and wearing Pyer Moss, Hanifa, Romeo Hunte and Christopher John Rogers. Roach said he only used clothing, shoes and jewels from black designers for the shoot.

In the story, Zendaya talks to Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors about her activism. “I’m an actress, but I’m also just a person who has a heart and wants to do the right thing.”

-Zendaya’s rumoured boyfriend Jacob Elordi is interviewed in Variety, and talked about not yet seeing Kissing Booth 2, and the attention surrounding Deep Water costars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas (“I feel so bad for them. Let them walk their bloody dog”).

-E! News is reporting that Jennifer Garner has split from John Miller after almost 2 years together. In (possibly related?) other news, she was spotted hanging out with Alias costar Bradley Cooper and his daughter on a beach in Malibu. (This is a much better rumour than the one about Bradley dating Anna Wintour, which is somehow circulating again.)

-Meanwhile, Bradley was spotted grabbing dinner with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.

-In a clip for the new season of Selling Sunset, Chrishell Stause reveals This Is Us star Justin Hartley told her via text that he had filed for divorce. “I found out because he texted me that we were filed. Forty-five minutes later, the world knew … I talked to him right after ‘cause I thought that must be a joke, but that was kind of the end of the communication.”

Jason Momoa had wife Lisa Bonet‘s old Mustang restored. I can’t tell if this is just an elaborate ad for Ford or not, but it’s sweet enough that I can’t seem to bring myself to care.

George and Amal Clooney have donated $100k to Lebanese charities helping provide aid in Beirut.

-I’m very bummed that High Fidelity starring Zoe Kravitz has been canceled after just one season.

-Three of Bon Appétit’s Test Kitchen stars of color are departing the video channel after failed contract negotiations. Priya Krishna, Rick Martinez, and Sohla El-Waylly will no longer be in Test Kitchen videos, they announced on Instagram. How do you have a very public reckoning with how your treat your non-white employees, and STILL try to lowball them? Krishna mentioned in her statement: “Some of my colleagues in the test kitchen have been publicly supportive but privately complicit, even helping to interview BIPOC video candidates they know will be underpaid.”

-Amazon has ordered a TV adaptation of A League of Their Own, co-created by and starring Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson. Great, now do Pitch!

Taylor Swift has confirmed that Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively‘s daughter’s name is Betty, which I like a lot.

Keke Palmer is set to host the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards at the end of the month. I wish covid didn’t mess this up by making the show more subdued than it usually is, cause she deserves a big moment.

-Music producer Detail, who has worked with Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez, was arrested and charged with 15 counts of sexual assault and five additional felony assault-related charges.

-This is huge, great news: Candyman’s Nia DaCosta will direct the Captain Marvel sequel.

-What’s going on with YouTubers this week? First Jake Paul’s house is raided by the FBI, and now Alan and Alex Stokes have been arrested and charged with felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor swatting.

Bella Hadid called out cops who weren’t wearing masks.

-It seems the racists can’t tolerate even mainstream darling Oprah finally calling out white privilege.

-This is a very good point about all of the celebrities who are posting support for Ellen Degeneres: their posts sound like they came from a digital media kit. The fact that so many of them reference exact amounts of what she’s contributed to charity is suspicious.

-The release date for Bill & Ted 3 has been moved again — this time up a week. Makes sense, as the following week is suddenly looking busy with Tenet and Mulan duking it out in what is sure to be a very closely watched battle pitting theatres vs streaming.

-A teaser is out for A24’s Zola, a thriller born from a Twitter thread about a Hooters waitress who meets a girl who asks if she wants to make some extra money stripping, and then they end up on a roadtrip to Florida that involves prostitution, pimps, a bipolar boyfriend, kidnapping, and murder. It is a master class in storytelling.

-Also, A24 correcting People’s headline about the teaser is priceless.

-As if she hasn’t given us enough with Black is King, Beyonce also posted three new photos today on Instagram.

Nicole Kidman, Bobby Cannavale and Melissa McCarthy are set to star in Hulu’s limited series Nine Perfect Strangers, which is based on Liane Moriarty’s latest book.

-HBO has shared the first teaser trailer for David E. Kelley and Susanne Bier’s The Undoing, starring Hugh Grant and Nicole Kidman.

-Showtime has debuted the first clip for Bryan Cranston’s limited legal drama Your Honor.

-A trip to meet the parents becomes a horror show in the trailer for Charlie Kaufman‘s i’m thinking of ending things.

Justin Bieber Still Thinks He Could Beat Up Tom Cruise

-Over the summer, Justin Bieber called out Tom Cruise on Twitter and challenged him to a fight. On Carpool Karaoke, James Corden asked him about it. “I don’t know. I was just being stupid, to be honest…but then people were like, ‘Yeah I want to see this happen.’ Then I was like, ‘You know what? That could actually be funny.'” Fair enough — but then Bieber reiterated that he thinks he would beat Cruise. “There’s absolutely no way [I’d lose]. He’s not the guy you see in movies…that’s a character…I’m dangerous, plus my agility is insane. I’m insane. I don’t think you understand the mind control that I have.”

SZA, Megan Thee Stallion and Normani are on the cover of Rolling Stone’s Women Shaping the Future issue.

-It’s been a big week for Jenna Dewan. She celebrated her baby shower and announced her engagement.

-This is how Jennifer Lopez dressed for a business meeting and I’m clearly career-ing all wrong.

Jason Momoa is shooting the second season of his Apple+ show in Toronto, and he’s been spotted all over town, including at a fancy Yorkville sushi place and in a snowstorm while wearing a tshirt.

-Former Hollywood assistants shared their horror stories with Vulture and they’re as bad as you’d expect.

This woman has gone viral after being stopped in a subway and asked to sing “Shallow” and crushing it.

Bill Hader and Rachel Bilson are still going strong.

-Last night’s Brit Awards delivered some underwhelming fashion choices, but I like how both Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner opted for neons. Styles also wore a black ribbon on his lapel intended to pay tribute to his former girlfriend Caroline Flack.

Lizzo and Harry Styles continue to be adorable together.

-Rapper Dave is getting lots of buzz for this performance at the Brit awards, in which he called Boris Johnson a racist and rebuked the media over their treatment of Meghan Markle.

-Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s royal duties will officially end on March 31.

-Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown turned 16 and marked the day with an Instagram video highlighting headlines about her. She added in the caption “there are moments i get frustrated from the inaccuracy, inappropriate comments, sexualization, and unnecessary insults that ultimately have resulted in pain and insecurity for me. but not ever will i be defeated.”

Steven Spielberg‘s daughter is also in the movie business — the adult movie business.

Colin Jost might be leaving SNL after the election. Why wait? Go now!

-To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before star Lana Condor teamed up with her boyfriend for a new duet.

Toni Collette tries to beat the odds in the trailer for Dream Horse.
