Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s New Bop

–Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande unleashed their new song “Rain on Me” today and I dig it. This thing builds! It’s the second song from Gaga’s upcoming album Chromatica, which is slated for release on May 29.

-Meanwhile, Scooter Braun says Ariana Grande still suffers from PTSD following the horrific Manchester Arena bombing.

–Demi Lovato‘s quarantine relationship with Max Ehrich seems to be going strong.

–Lana Del Rey has responded to the backlash of her trying to defend herself by calling out artists like Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat for “being sexy, wearing no clothes [and] cheating … without being crucified.” She’s since doubled down on her comments, saying “This is sad to make it about a WOC issue when I’m talking about my favorite singers. I could’ve literally said anyone but I picked my favorite fucking people.” She added, “When I said people who look like me—I meant the people who don’t look strong or necessarily smart, or like they’re in control etc. it’s about advocating for a more delicate personality, not for white woman—thanks for the Karen comments tho. V helpful.” Yeah, pointing out that people are calling you a Karen doesn’t negate your Karenism.

–Megan Fox posted about Lana’s comments and then quickly deleted it. She wasn’t wrong, though.

–Ryan Murphy is talking nonsense again (and it also feels really disrespectful of Cory Monteith‘s memory to fantasy-cast replace him).

–Hailey Bieber denied plastic surgery accusations, blaming “crazy” photo editing for an unnatural photo of her face that was shared on Instagram.

-Also, she let Justin do her makeup — and he did pretty well.

–Kelly Ripa has been keeping it on the DL that she’s been riding out the quarantine with her family in the Caribbean.

–Salman Rushdie getting pissy on Twitter about the NYT review of his book feels peak 2020.

–Chris Pratt accidentally deleted 51,000 emails, which seems kind of freeing, TBH.

–Cara Delevingne directed a Rainsford music video starring Kaia Gerber and Gregg Sulkin. It looks like they’re playing house, which is probably not the vibe they were all going for.

-The 100’s final season began this week but the fandom is melting down instead of celebrating because of all the bts bs. Script leaks, the lead actor seemingly being left out of promotional materials, the showrunner crapping on a popular ship — it’s all a mess.

-Here’s our first look at BBC’s new lockdown comedy, Staged, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen.

This is a fascinating article on how the original screenwriter of Yesterday, Jack Barth, was allegedly steamrolled by Richard Curtis.

-The Lovebirds, starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani, was supposed to debut in theatres but it is now dropping this weekend on Netflix and the reviews are mostly good.

-I don’t really understand anything that’s happening in the trailer for Christopher Nolan‘s Tenet, but I’m here for John David Washington‘s face and Robert Pattinson‘s jaunty scarf. This was supposed to come out this summer, but there’s a conspicuous lack of a release date mentioned in this.

issa rae–Ira wrote the cover story on Issa Rae for Cosmo. Love them both!

–Kate Beckinsale is on the cover of Women’s Health, in which she talks about people’s perception of her. “It can feel like a little bit of a political act to be a woman over 32 who’s having any fun at all. And by that, I don’t mean doing drugs and drinking and partying, because I never am, but being goofy, and going out, and not going, ‘Oh my god, I’m going to sit home and anticipate menopause while crocheting.’ ”

-Also, she doesn’t love it when Instagram followers comment on her smoking.

-The more people talk about Brad Pitt and Alia Shawkat‘s “incredibly tight bond,” the more it bugs me that there’s no dating rumours about them. I have no idea what’s going on with them, but if any other actress was repeatedly spotted spending time with him during social distancing, the tabloids would have them engaged by now. But because she doesn’t look like what we expect his girlfriend to look like, every article emphasizes how they’re “just friends.”

-Before social distancing started, Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Adam Scott, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow filmed a Red Nose Day segment in which they attempt to get out of Jack Black’s Escape Room.

-Is Dolly Parton going to save the world? The signer is funding some of the most important, most promising COVID-19 treatment research.

-Any Taffy Brodesser-Akner profile goes to the top of my TBR list, but this one on Val Kilmer is especially outstanding. He now tours a show where he dresses up like Mark Twain and does Christian Science-themed standup comedy.

-HBO Max has given a 10-episode series order to a single-camera comedy starring Jean Smart, from three Broad City producers. It’ll be executive produced by The Good Place creator Mike Schur. I like all of those people!

Sources say Trolls 2’s top voice stars, including Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick were not informed ahead of the announcement that the film would be arriving on-demand early. Now their reps are asking for pay.

-The creator of Black Mirror says the world is too bleak for a new season right now. Seeing as we’re all living in a episode of that show right now…yeah.

-If any actor was going to be the first to shoot a movie in space, Tom Cruise makes the most sense.

-I share a birthday with Baby Archie, which I’m not mad about. Everyone was wondering how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would commemorate it on social media, and they did even better than I expected (considering all their recent PR flubs) by posting a cute reading video for charity.

-It’s also George Clooney’s birthday. To commemorate his 59th, former ER love interest Julianna Margulies shared a bts pic of their last scene.

-Novelist Emily Giffin hates Meghan Markle so much. Girl, I read Something Borrowed. Sit down.

-Vulture’s costar reunions continue with Happy Endings’ Eliza Coupe and Elisha Cuthbert. I love that Cuthbert is wearing an East Coast Lifestyle had like a good Canadian.

-I’m not sure how I feel about Adele’s drastic transformation. I hope she’s healthy and happy, but she looks like everyone else in Hollywood now. (Specifically, Sarah Paulson.)

-Also, with Adele trending it surfaced this amazing video of her meeting some of her impersonators.

Brad Pitt Turns Weatherman

–Brad Pitt made a 12-second appearance on John Krasinski‘s web show and it’s all anyone can talk about. (Fastforward to the 7-min mark.) The power!

-Meanwhile, Alia Shawkat of Arrested Development fame was spotted riding her bicycle over to Brad Pitt’s gated community on her birthday this weekend. But everyone’s still insisting they’re just friends.

–Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse are still going strong and are isolating together.

-In advance of Friday’s hearing against the Associated Newspapers, Meghan Markle‘s lawyers laid out their charges of invasion of privacy and copyright infringement against the Mail on Sunday. Meanwhile, she and Prince Harry sent letters to various British tabloids, making it clear they would no longer deal with them.

–Cole Sprouse had a rough weekend. He took to his Instagram Stories to yell at fans who doxxed him and speculated about his relationship status with Kaia Geber.

–Eva Mendes explained to an Instagram commenter why she doesn’t post pictures of her life with Ryan Gosling: “Since my children are still so little and don’t understand what posting their image really means, I don’t have their consent. And I won’t post their image until they’re old enough to give me consent. As far as Ryan and I, it just works for us this way, To stay private.”

–Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are burying the hatchet on their “feud” for charity. The winner will have them to fly to their house and set up a lemonade stand with them.

-The cast of Chuck reunited on Zoom for a table read of an episode from season 3.

-Speaking of fun Zoom reunions, the cast of That Thing You Do did a rewatch party.

-Stumptown stars Cobie Smulders and Jake Johnson reunited on Instagram, and she sang “Let’s Go to the Mall” from How I Met Your Mother.

-Angel star J. August Richards came out as gay during in an Instagram chat today with Sarah Wayne Callies, his co-star on the new NBC show Council of Dads. “I knew that I could not portray this gay man honestly without letting you all know that I am a gay man myself…and I’ve never done that with the people that I’ve worked with.”

-There are rumours that Marvel is planning a virtual Hall H on the Saturday of Comic-Con to release trailers and really all studios should be doing this.

–Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani‘s The Lovebirds, which was supposed to premiere in theatres on April 3, just got a Netflix release date instead: May 22.

–Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson opened up about the intense coronavirus symptoms they were dealing with and it sounded horrible.

–Oprah‘s TV doctors keep screwing up when it comes to covid-19.

–Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis announced a partnership with Stephen Amell‘s Nocking Point to sell “Quarantine Wine,” with 100% of profits going to four different covid-19 relief charities. I wish when celebrities sat in their mansions and urged fans to buy things/donate to charity, they’d start by telling us how much they’ve donated or what material thing their doing with their wealth to also help. That would make these things so much more palatable. This is PR 101.

–Keira Knightley played “Yesterday” on her teeth(!) and it’s surprisingly amazing.

–Stanley Tucci making cocktails on Instagram is weirdly hot.

-I don’t know why this old Jesse Eisenberg interview made the rounds on Twitter again this weekend, but I will watch it whenever it crosses my timeline. His “hey, you’re on my time” makes me double take every time, even though I know it’s coming.

-The honest trailer for Cats is honestly delightful.

–Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix show, Hollywood, completely reimagines the golden age of Tinseltown and stars Patti LuPone, Jim Parsons, Queen Latifah, Holland Taylor, and Darren Criss.
