Issa Rae Covers Cosmo

issa raeIra wrote the cover story on Issa Rae for Cosmo. Love them both!

Kate Beckinsale is on the cover of Women’s Health, in which she talks about people’s perception of her. “It can feel like a little bit of a political act to be a woman over 32 who’s having any fun at all. And by that, I don’t mean doing drugs and drinking and partying, because I never am, but being goofy, and going out, and not going, ‘Oh my god, I’m going to sit home and anticipate menopause while crocheting.’ ”

-Also, she doesn’t love it when Instagram followers comment on her smoking.

-The more people talk about Brad Pitt and Alia Shawkat‘s “incredibly tight bond,” the more it bugs me that there’s no dating rumours about them. I have no idea what’s going on with them, but if any other actress was repeatedly spotted spending time with him during social distancing, the tabloids would have them engaged by now. But because she doesn’t look like what we expect his girlfriend to look like, every article emphasizes how they’re “just friends.”

-Before social distancing started, Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Adam Scott, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow filmed a Red Nose Day segment in which they attempt to get out of Jack Black’s Escape Room.

-Is Dolly Parton going to save the world? The signer is funding some of the most important, most promising COVID-19 treatment research.

-Any Taffy Brodesser-Akner profile goes to the top of my TBR list, but this one on Val Kilmer is especially outstanding. He now tours a show where he dresses up like Mark Twain and does Christian Science-themed standup comedy.

-HBO Max has given a 10-episode series order to a single-camera comedy starring Jean Smart, from three Broad City producers. It’ll be executive produced by The Good Place creator Mike Schur. I like all of those people!

Sources say Trolls 2’s top voice stars, including Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick were not informed ahead of the announcement that the film would be arriving on-demand early. Now their reps are asking for pay.

-The creator of Black Mirror says the world is too bleak for a new season right now. Seeing as we’re all living in a episode of that show right now…yeah.

-If any actor was going to be the first to shoot a movie in space, Tom Cruise makes the most sense.

-I share a birthday with Baby Archie, which I’m not mad about. Everyone was wondering how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would commemorate it on social media, and they did even better than I expected (considering all their recent PR flubs) by posting a cute reading video for charity.

-It’s also George Clooney’s birthday. To commemorate his 59th, former ER love interest Julianna Margulies shared a bts pic of their last scene.

-Novelist Emily Giffin hates Meghan Markle so much. Girl, I read Something Borrowed. Sit down.

-Vulture’s costar reunions continue with Happy Endings’ Eliza Coupe and Elisha Cuthbert. I love that Cuthbert is wearing an East Coast Lifestyle had like a good Canadian.

-I’m not sure how I feel about Adele’s drastic transformation. I hope she’s healthy and happy, but she looks like everyone else in Hollywood now. (Specifically, Sarah Paulson.)

-Also, with Adele trending it surfaced this amazing video of her meeting some of her impersonators.

-The Sun claims Prince Harry and Meaghan Markle left Canada hours before the border closed and have set up a permanent home in Los Angeles. People is also reporting that they’re self-isolating in LA. I can’t believe they’d voluntarily leave Canadian healthcare right now!

-Meanwhile, William and Kate‘s kids remain adorable.

-People are convinced Princess Eugenie is pregnant — because she made a post for UK Mother’s Day. We all have too much time on our hands, y’all.

Courteney Cox called into Jimmy Kimmel‘s at-home show last night and proved that she’s very bad at Friends trivia.

Demi Lovato is quarantining with her new boyfriend, soap actor Max Ehrich.

Jodie Whitaker donned her Doctor Who gear to send a message of hope to fans.

Lori Loughlin‘s lawyer has filed a motion to dismiss all charges against her.

-I didn’t keep up with Star Trek: Picard but man, people are upset by last night’s finale.

-A new book about The Office claims that Steve Carell didn’t actually want to leave the show when he did.

-Quibi dropped a bunch of new trailers, including our first look at Chrissy Teigen’s court show.

Sophie Turner plays a woman flying home from rehab when her plane crashes in the Survive trailer, her new show on Quibi.

Nicole Kidman Reflects on Family and Fame

Nicole Kidman Tatler Bombshell

Nicole Kidman is kicking off the Bombshell promo tour with her Tatler cover story, in which she talks about the death of her father (“My three-year-old said, ‘But you’re not going to be sad like this tomorrow, are you?’ That’s when you realize, y’know, you have to be OK. Because they need to know that they’re safe, that their mother isn’’t going to fall apart. Inside? I was beyond shattered. But I had to rally”).

Johnny Depp is producing an unauthorized musical about Michael Jackson that is narrated by a talking glove. I hate all of those words.

-In a nice change of pace, Tom Hanks read some nice tweets.

Sia went to Walmart and TJ Maxx yesterday and paid everyone’s bills, telling people her name was Cici and she’d recently won the lottery.

John Boyega remains a delight.

Seth Meyers had his parents and brother on the show and they seem wonderfully well-adjusted and normal.

Beck has distanced himself from Scientology, saying “My father has been a Scientologist for a long time. But I’ve pretty much just focused on my music and my work for most of my life, and tended to do my own thing.” Leah Remini, however, is not buying it: “You can’t be married to a Scientology family such as the Ribisi family and not be fully on board. To say that he was more focused on his thing and the press just ran with it is a p**sy move. This is his way of not publicly stating that he was very much in and now he’s not.”

Sandra Bullock was at Jennifer Aniston’s Friendsgiving, as was Courteney Cox, Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Justin Theroux.

Chrissy Teigen turned John Legend’s ‘Sexiest Man’ People cover into pajamas for everyone to wear at Thanksgiving and I think I’m in love with her.

Dakota Johnson continues to be the most awkward person ever in interviews.

-Here’s video of Jennifer Garner losing her poo when Julie Andrews called her.

-French director Luc Besson could be hit with a 10-month suspended prison sentence — and not for the reasons you’d think. He allegedly fired his assistant illegally when she was on medical leave.

-It’s been a rough week in K-pop. Jung Joon-young and Choi Jong-hoon have been sentenced to prison terms on charges of sexual assault.

-Another week, another celeb: Jane Fonda recruited Paul Scheer for today’s “Fire Drill Friday” protests.

-It’s Black Friday or, as gossip hounds know it, CDAN blind item reveal day.

-The E.T. short is cute. Yes, it’s a commercial, but it’s still cute.
