-In Harper’s Bazaar, Helen Mirren talks about playing a baddie in The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. “Women get to play much cooler villains these days. But I’ve always had a secret ambition to play a villain in a James Bond movie.”

–Justin Bieber ate a burrito sideways and everyone is very confused.

–Emma Stone says that when she was doing Cabaret on Broadway, during one performance she sang so hard that both of her contacts popped out. She also revealed a disturbing side effect from wearing a corset for months while filming The Favourite: “After a month, all my organs shifted — it was gross, and if you don’t have to, don’t do it.”

–Carey Mulligan talked about attending Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s royal wedding and her husband’s gaffe during the ceremony when he thought the cameras weren’t on them. “When we were allowed to turn our phones back on we had like 15,000 messages saying ‘Marcus, you yawned on TV!'”

-All HBO programs with sex scenes will be staffed by an “intimacy coordinator” to make sure everyone stays safe and respected during filming. That job title would make for really interesting dinner party introductions…

-I gave up on Riverdale ages ago, but I’m definitely going to tune in next week to watch the kids play their parents in the 80’s-set episode, “The Midnight Club.”

–Ellen likes to scare her guests on a regular week, but she really ramps it up the week before Halloween. She got Diddy with Pennywise, and she sent her producer and Chrissy Teigen to a haunted house. (I love how he keeps using her as a human shield.)

-That “significant” character that Modern Family has been teasing about dying for over a month turned out to be not so significant after all… and fans are not impressed.

-I think all interviews with TV stars should include forcing them to watch their onscreen kisses and give a running commentary on them. This is delightful!

-Speaking of delightful interviews, Phoebe Robinson talked about being in Croatia to shoot the Netflix romcom Ibiza, and meeting Julia Roberts because her husband was the director of photography for the movie. When Julia found out she couldn’t swim, she took it upon herself to teach her.

–Jason Sudeikis with long hair is kind of working for me…

-There’s a Clueless reboot in the works from the writers of Girls Trip and Glow.

–John Mayer estimates he slept with 500 women. Is that a lot for a rock star?

-This is a really great interview with Steven Yeun, formerly of The Walking Dead and currently getting huge buzz for his role in Burning.

–Liam Neeson plays a snowplow driver who seeks revenge against the drug dealers who killed his son in the Cold Pursuit trailer.

–Natalie Portman plays a pop star in the trailer for Vox Lux.

-In her new cover story for Marie Claire, Reese Witherspoon walks the walk by talking about how she’s focusing on producing female-driven projects, including a film she’s co-producing with Zendaya.

–Kim Cattrall  WENT OFF on Sarah Jessica Parker on Instagram this weekend after Parker offered condolences for the death of Cattrall’s brother. Responded Cattrall: “Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now…So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.” Here’s some history of the pair’s increasingly public spats over the past few months.  Though I’m clearly on #TeamKim (I assume most people are?) I also kind of feel like SJP was put in a terrible position when Extra asked her about the death. If she refused to answer, it would have been worse. She definitely doesn’t come out of the entire SATC saga looking great, but in this particular instance she was damned if she did, damned if she didn’t.

–Idris Elba got engaged this weekend and there’s video of him popping the question, just in case you really want to hate your life.

-The stunt coordinator on Kill Bill broke his silence to say he and his entire department were kept off the set on the day Uma Thurman filmed that scene. “At no point was I notified or consulted about Ms. Thurman driving a car on camera that day. Had I been involved, I would have insisted not only on putting a professional driver behind the wheel but also insuring that the car itself was road-worthy and safe.”

-A friend and I were talking last week about how in this #TimesUp moment we were surprised that no one has said “Hey, remember those old allegations/charges against Michael Fassbender? Or Christian Bale? Or Josh Brolin? Or Christian Slater?” Well, looks like Fassbender’s up first.

-Despite those sexual misconduct allegations, The Deuce is bringing James Franco back for season two.

–Taylor Swift has been burned by leaks before. So now when she wants you to hear an unreleased song, she flies an iPad to you, then flies it back, according to Ed Sheeran.

-45-year-old comedian Dane Cook is dating a teenager. That’s swell.

–Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen gave out crystals at New York Fashion Week. Seems about right…

-Clear your calendar: the royal wedding schedule has arrived.

-This is embarrassing: A judge ruled that Zooey Deschanel — not her agency or manager — was primarily to blame for her not getting a film role.

-I have zero interest in ever seeing Fifty Shades Freed so I have no horse in this race, but I read two *hilarious* reviews about it that were polar opposites. Vulture praised it for breaking every convention of film-making (“No five-minute section in Fifty Shades Freed has any relation to the five minutes before it; the film just starts over. It’s Memento, but with butt plugs”), while Pajiba called it ad “ignorant, poisonous anti-feminist hate anthem” (“It’s like offering waffles for breakfast and then making the waffles out of misogyny and feces. Enjoy your god damn shitwaffle, America. You deserve it”).

–Zac Efron is shooting a Harmony Korine movie, and his beard is mesmerizing…

-Box office pundits keep raising the expectations for Black Panther, and now it’s expected to open at a massive $165M. We bought our tickets last week and couldn’t get 5 seats together, which is both awesome and kind of a bummer.

–Gina Rodriguez directed her first episode of Jane the Virgin and she talked about how it was important to create a safe space for her male costar during their sex scene. Her episode also featured a grandmother buying her first dildo, and Petra having a sex dream about her female lawyer, so she was really hitting it out of the park.

–Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd perfectly recreated the ‘King Of Wishful Thinking’ music video and it’s wonderful.

–David Duchovny thinks it’s premature for fans to be mourning Gillian Anderson’s departure from The X Files: “It’s a little cart before the horse, for me. It’s like, OK, there are issues to deal with or whatever, but let’s talk about the show. Let’s not talk about hypotheticals. To me, it’s unfortunate that’s kind of like ‘the headline’ because, to me, the headline is: We just made 10 really kick-ass episodes of television, and please enjoy and don’t mourn the death of this show quite yet.” (Read: I’m willing to do this show without her.)

-A Wrinkle in Time’s latest TV trailer promises a mind-bending adventure.

–Carey Mulligan tries to solve a murder in BBC’s new four-part political thriller Collateral. Limited TV series seems like a smart career move for her.

Angelina Jolie Says Her Family Is No Longer in “Lockdown”

–Angelina Jolie is selling her new movie hard (probably even harder now that the reviews following its TIFF premiere have been decidedly mixed). In a new People cover story, she spoke about the “difficult” year she’s had and revealed that she’s “a little bit stronger,” and that her family is now out of “lockdown.”

-16-year-old Maddox was also interviewed. I guess that’s what happens when you make your kid an exec producer of your movie.

–Rebel Wilson has been awarded record-breaking $3.6 million in that defamation suit. She says she plans to “give the money away.”

-THR did a deep-dive into This Is Us, which returns Sept 26. The article is great, but even greater is this photo.

–Harrison Ford is interviewed in the latest issue of GQ, and this part where he explains how he punched Ryan Gosling must be read.

–Demi Lovato may possibly be dating a girl. Here for it.

–Amber Tamblyn continues to drag James Woods, this time by penning an open letter to him in Teen Vogue. God, I love her.

-During a rapid-fire segment of an interview, Kate Hudson said the ‘laziest’ thing she’s ever done is have a C-section, so of course the torches came out on social media.

–Maggie Gyllenhaal doesn’t know anything about the scarf Taylor Swift says she left at her house and she wants y’all to stop asking about it.

-Millennial pink is still going strong, huh? Rihanna filled the Park Avenue Armory with pink sand dunes for her latest Fenty collection.

–Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to inch closer to an engagement. He’s reportedly introduced her to the Queen.

-Out of all the shows that were competing in EW’s fall TV cover battle, I didn’t think Riverdale would be the one to come out on top. What do I know?  Meanwhile, here’s the trailer for season 2.

–Diane Kruger just took the crown for the worst-dressed at TIFF (and this is coming from someone who’s going to tonight’s TIFF activities in her fat jeans…)

–Carey Mulligan showed up at TIFF looking very not-pregnant, so she must have had her second kid recently.

–Idris Elba is so over all those questions about possibly playing Bond. (“Can we not? Because it feels like I’m campaigning, and I’m not. At first it was harmless — oh, I know, wouldn’t it be great? — and now it’s started off racial debates. I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I’ve not even played the role. Enough is enough. I can’t talk about it any more.”)

–Tyrese is publicly feuding with The Rock via Instagram comments. This will not end well for him.
