Stop Shipping Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt

–Jennifer Aniston threw a 50th birthday bash this weekend and the guest list was insane (George, Amal, Gwyneth, Reese, Sandra, Kate, Orlando, Katy, Demi, RDJ, Courteney, Ellen, etc.) but the guest that everyone’s buzzing about today is her ex-hubby Brad Pitt. Not surprisingly, people from her camp are already shooting down talk of a reconciliation, pointing out that they only chatted briefly and “they definitely aren’t dating or on that path. They are friendly, but that’s it.”

-God, I could watch this video of Anne Hathaway shading James Franco for hanging her out to dry at the Oscars on repeat for a month.

–Chris Pratt responded to Ellen Page‘s criticism of his church with a long-winded, poorly designed IG story.

-Congrats to Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist, who announced her engagement to former costar Chris Wood.

-Fleabag season 2 is starting in March.

-Hulu is delaying the third season of The Handmaid’s Tale until June, putting it out of Emmy contention. (They claim it’s not because of GoT, but come on.)

-Hulu also previewed the new Veronica Mars reboot, promising a more mature take.

-The official website for Captain Marvel (which is set in the 90s) looks like it was built on Angelfire and it’s total perfection!

-The BAFTAs took place in London this weekend, and Olivia Colman gave another perfect speech (“We’re gonna get so pissed later!”) while Cate Blanchett looked like she was collecting infinity stones.

–Trevor Noah‘s thoughts on the Liam Neeson debacle are worth a listen.

-As part of her cover story with Justin, Hailey Baldwin answered Vogue’s 73 questions. It’s awkwardly stiff.

–Chris Brown needs to stay the hell away from Cardi B. And, you know, everyone else.

-I really liked this profile on Roma’s Yalitza Aparicio, which challenges the fairy tale narrative that’s been building all season.

-Did Sean Penn really write a column about how Bradley Cooper should have been nominated for Best Director? Really?! It’s his FIRST movie! I would have rather seen Destroyer’s Karyn Kusama or Can You Ever Forgive Me?’s Marielle Heller get a nom before Cooper.

-Oscars is relegating four categories to commercial breaks, including editing and cinematography. You know, that things that actually make movies good.

-No surprise here: Bryan Singer‘s Red Sonja has been put on the back burner.

–Lin-Manuel Miranda will guest star on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He basically tweeted that show into survival, so this is lovely.

-It looks like Warner Bros is actually going to pull Friends from Netflix for their own streaming app.

-In her new Cosmo cover story, Lana Condor admits she and Noah Centineo did nothing to stop those romance rumours, despite her having a longtime live-in boyfriend. But I wonder how much that was encouraged by Netflix during TATBILB’s press tour?

-Congrats to Jennifer Lawrence, who’s reportedly engaged to art gallery rep Cooke Maroney.

–Bradley Cooper was refreshingly candid when he talked to Oprah about being “embarrassed” by his Oscar snub for Best Director. “I felt embarrassed that I didn’t do my part. I’ll work on that. I went, ‘Oh, gosh. I didn’t do my job.'”

-The Walking Dead has been renewed for Season 10, but there is a chance Danai Gurira may not return as negotiations have become more complicated since she became a superstar thanks to Black Panther. Meanwhile, Norman Reedus becomes No. 1 on the callsheet with a reported paycheck of $350,000 per episode on top of additional guarantees and advances in a deal that sources say could be worth anywhere from $50 million to $90 million. (That guy also hits the lucrative con circuit hard so he’s pretty much flush.)

In the new issue of British GQ, Armie Hammer (who might be Hollywood’s worst tweeter — discuss!) stands by his tweets that criticized celebrities’ selfie tributes to the late Stan Lee.

–Hugh Jackman accidentally restarted his fake feud with ‘total f—ing a–hole’ Ryan Reynolds.

-Avengers: Endgame might clock in at 3 hours. Dear god.

–Jennifer Lopez is performing a Motown tribute at the Grammys and people are not happy.

-I’ve been reading a bit of backlash about the third season of The Good Place and I just don’t get it. Yeah, the Earth-bound stuff wasn’t great and I’m not totally shipping Eleanor and Chidi (and I ship everyone!) but this was also the season that gave us the Jeremy Bearimy episode so I have no complaints.

-Just eat the damn pizza, Drew Barrymore.

-Here’s our first look at the Four Weddings and a Funeral reunion for Red Nose Day.

-Speaking of first looks, HBO just released a bunch of photos from Game of Thrones’ final season. I feel like I’m going to love Sansa this season.

-People’s cover story gives good press to Meghan Markle (which she can use after the trashing she’s getting in the British press — there was a headline yesterday about her being the cause of Harry’s baldness). People’s story has some new scoop, including how she leans on her faith and how everything went down with her father during the wedding.

–Ed Westwick (who was accused by three women of sexual assault but prosecutors did not pursue charges) just landed a new gig. These men are Teflon.

-EW is doing a bunch of romcom retrospectives in time for Valentine’s Day. I’m not sure anyone needs a fond look back at He’s Just Not That Into You, but I really liked this piece about Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt getting together to re-watch (500) Days of Summer 10 years later.

-Celebs are getting in on the #FuckFuckJerry action and calling on people to unfollow their accounts.

-Here’s the first trailer for The Sun Is Also a Star. This book is on my bedside table and it’s one of two (alongside The Hating Game) that I pick up whenever I’m down because I can flip to a random page and it just brings the happy. So trust me when I say I do NOT want them to screw up this movie — and this trailer has me hopeful that they won’t. Yara Shahidi looks perfect; I’m less convinced about the Riverdale guy but I’ll give him a chance.

Empire Star Jussie Smollett Victim of Suspected Hate Crime

-People are awful. Empire star Jussie Smollett was has been hospitalized after a horrific attack. He was walking down the street when two men reportedly approached him, started harassing him with homophobic slurs, put a rope around his neck, threw bleach on him and screamed “This is MAGA country.” The FBI has now taken over the case after it was confirmed the actor received an earlier threat.

-Hollywood is rallying around Smollett and calling for justice.

-Slope scares: Gwyneth Paltrow is being sued for allegedly causing injuries to a doctor after he said she crashed into him while skiing.

-Ellen staged a mini Friends reunion with Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox.

-In a new podcast, Thora Birch said she wants American Beauty fans to see past the “stain” of Kevin Spacey. “It shouldn’t be on the film. Who’s to blame? It’s Kevin. It doesn’t have anything to do with American Beauty.” K, but it’s still a terrible movie that has NOT aged well.

-This Bradley Cooper interaction with comedian Luenell at the SAGs made me like him a lot more than I did.

-Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan reveals she’s been secretly married to Jason Ralph for years. Is it a secret or did people just not care?

-No really though, how many wedding celebrations are Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra gonna have??

-F*ck Jake Gyllenhaal.

-Every time I see another clip from Bohemian Rhapsody, I get more angry. And I still haven’t watched it! I wanted to see all the nominated films before the Oscars but I don’t think I can do this one. I’ll end up setting the theatre on fire. Why are the SO. MANY. CUTS.

–Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid will be reportedly be subpoenaed over their Fyre Festival payments. I’m not surprised. Watching the documentaries, it was very strange how the “influencers” were just let off the hook.

–Richard E Grant fangirling over Babs a delight. I saw Can You Ever Forgive Me? last weekend and I would totally be ok with him winning the Supporting Actor Oscar.

-God, I’m so here for the Zombieland sequel.

–Tessa Thompson announced Time’s Up’s 4% challenge, which aims to boost the number of women directing top Hollywood films.

-That “leaked” list of supposed Grammy winners is fake. So you’ll have to tune in on Feb 10 and pretend that those awards are still relevant just like the rest of us.

-Suits may be ending, but the goddess Gina Torres is getting her own spinoff. Here’s the trailer.
