–Idris Elba married model Sabrina Dhowre this weekend in a gorg Moroccan wedding . Look, I know we’re all in mourning but at least she’s Canadian. Go, home team!

-Better late than never: Megan Fox filed court papers to dismiss her divorce petition from husband Brian Austin Green. She originally filed for divorce in 2015 but they reconciled and had another kid the following year.

-I’m kind of fascinated by how Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ended up writing for the Veronica Mars revival.

-People are really, really upset by how hard last night’s Game of Thrones episode was to actually make out. (I think it was less about the DP lighting scenes poorly, and more a combination of weird, choppy editing and the limits of video compression algorithms and TV technology.) My babies Jamie and Brienne were out there fighting back to back Mr & Mrs Smith-style, so I was happy. I do think that transitioning to Cersei as the big bad might be rough though.

–Maisie Williams‘ boyfriend didn’t care much for Arya’s big moment last night and look I don’t want to judge her personal life, but maybe she can do better.

-Ohhh…Holly Hunter might be in the new season of Succession.

The Simpsons aired a Canada-centric episode last night complete with “Newfie” and seal-clubbing jokes. Ugh.

-Avengers: Endgame snapped every record, crossing $1 billion in its first weekend at the global box office. It also broke records in Canada with a $28.9M bow, beating best opening weekend record previously held by Infinity War.

-Terrible news: Boyz N the Hood director John Singleton‘s family said they’re taking him off life supporttoday after he suffered a stroke almost two weeks ago.

–Matthew Glave and Emily Bett Rickards star in the trailer for Funny Story about a guy who has a one-night stand — and later realizes it was with his daughter’s fiancée. Oopsie!

–Louis Tomlinson helped an elderly widow cross items off his bucket list and damn if this didn’t get me right in the feels.

–Olivia Munn really stepped in it today by going after the Fug Girls. As someone who’s worked in the gossip trenches for a decade with a bunch of different outlets, stuff gets gross really quickly and you have to learn what your boundaries are and how to navigate editors who might not share your limits. There are SO many gross blogs out there. Out of all the sites to target, she chose a women-run one that is witty, sharp and has a policy against body shaming?!? GFY is one of two sites on the internet (the other being Pajiba) where I actually enjoying reading the comments because everyone is so civilized. But for her to mischaracterize it and slam all fashion criticism (without even mentioning her stylist — a lot of thought is put into her outfits but no one is allowed to comment on them?) is supremely misguided.

-This week has been nuts. From Justin Bieber to Ariana Grande to Cardi B to Lizzo to Michael Che and now Oliva Munn — it’s like all of the sudden celebs don’t understand that critics/entertainment journalists aren’t part of their PR & marketing teams.

-I was super confused reading Twitter last night, because it seemed like a bunch of people I follow in the UK only heard about the Prince William affair rumours for the very first time yesterday (I think because of this tweet). The UK press really have been keeping mum, huh?

-Meanwhile, Princy Harry and Kate Middleton looked friendly at their latest public appearance.

-I tried to watch the first episode of I Think You Should Leave because critics are RAVING about this new Netflix comedy and maybe I was just in a weird mood but I didn’t quite get it. This sketch with Vanessa Bayer is great, though.

-Oh no. Director John Singleton is in a coma after a “major stroke.”

-Also terrible: Demián Bichir’s wife died of an apparent suicidal drowning.

-There’s a big scandal in the romance world after author Courtney Milan discovered an author named Cristiane Serruya had appeared to have copied entire passages from her books, and it’s since spun out to uncover a whole slew of plagiarism. (Check out the hashtag #CopyPasteCris for all the drama.)  Now romance heavyweight Nora Roberts has jumped into the fray to defend Milan and others with a lawsuit against Serruya, and her blog post about it is boss. “It’s now my mission to turn over the rocks you hide under, then stomp you deep in the muck you breed in…I swear I’ll do whatever I can, use whatever resources, connections, clout, megaphone I have to out every damn one of you.” She also told the NYTof her lawsuit: “A lot of the other writers involved in this, they don’t have the money to fight it. I do have the money.”

-Jane the Virgin wrapped filming and the cast’s social postsmade me tear up repeatedly. Especially Justin Baldoni’s IG stories.

-Awww. Toronto’s own Choir! Choir! Choir! is featured in Oprah magazine.

-HBO released a full trailer for their Deadwood movie. I didn’t even watch this show and still I’m happy for its fans, who thought this day would never come.

–Chvrches is not happy that recent collaborator DJ Marshmello is now working with Chris Brown. They tweeted “We are really upset, confused, and disappointed” by Marshmello’s choice, noting that working with “people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses, and ultimately tacitly endorses that behavior.”

-Ahhh!! Anna Faris is on the latest episode of Gay of Thrones!

-The Office is Netflix’s most popular show — and NBCUniversal is considering pulling it for their own streaming site.

-Speaking of Netflix, this is a really interesting/terrifying peek at TV’s new math: don’t expect shows to last long anymore. Netflix often won’t renew shows to prevent having to pay out backend royalties to cast and crew that kick in around season 3 or 4. Plus, shorter runs mean fewer opportunities for talent to renegotiate contracts. Another reason they limit shows to only a season or two? More episodes doesn’t improve Netflix’s bottom line. (“At least one source says he has heard anecdotal evidence of internal analytics that suggest the streamer doesn’t gain any additional subscribers when a show goes beyond two seasons.”)

–Tom Holland is currently doing reshoots on a $100M movie he did with Daisy Ridley that was deemed ‘unreleasable’ by the studio.

-Bond 25 tried to do a big launch today, clearly not understanding that everyone has Avengers on the brain.

–Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are leveraging the Avengers spotlight that’s on them this week to promote their upcoming Men In Black. This looks great!

–Taylor Swift seems to have taken a page from Beyonce and stopped doing interviews. Instead, she’s written a listicle for Elle that reveals, among other things, that her mother is battling cancer again, she’s scared of a domestic terrorist attack happening at one of her shows, she’s learned how to make Old Fashioned, and getting a garlic crusher changed her life.

-This week can suck it. Jeopardy host Alex Trebek revealed in a video posted on YouTubethat he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. This is such a graceful announcement. He even made a joke!

-The Hollywood Reporter just released a story 15 months in the makingabout Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara promoting an actress who he was apparently having a sexual relationship. The story also ensnares Brett Ratner and Mariah Carey‘s ex James Packer. The incredibly well-reported article says Ratner introduced a 20-year-old actress to Packer (who was 45 at the time) and they started dating. But text messages seem to indicate that Packer and Ratner then encouraged her to start a relationship with Tsujihara to seal a $450 million deal the two men were working out with Warners. In numerous texts, the actress then questions Tsujihara, Packer and Ratner about the auditions and roles she was allegedly promised in return.  And to top it all off: according to the AT&T/Warnermedia reorganization announced Monday, Tsujihara will gain control of Cartoon Network and an animation division as well as the iconic Warner Bros. studio – making him one of Hollywood’s most powerful executives.

–Kristen Stewart and Janelle Monae sat in the front row of the Chanel show and no picture has even contained as much radness as this picture.

–Mario Batali has agreed to give up his stake in all of his restaurants following sexual assault allegations.

–R Kelly was a mess in that GMA interview, but everyone agrees that Gayle King nailed it.

-Meanwhile, R Kellyhas been arrested for unpaid child support.

-The Mad About You reboot is officially on — but it will only be available to people with Spectrum as their cable provider.

-Sorry Netflix. NBC is holding on to Mike Schur with a five-year dealreportedly worth $25M per year.

–Terry Crews listened and learned and delivered a beautiful apology, and really what more can we ask for?

-The CW just announced that Arrow will end next year with an abbreviated 10-episode season. I’m not surprised that season eight will be its last — I’m VERY surprised they are doing it as such as short run. Stephen Amell posted a very emotional Facebook Live video in which he said he told them a year ago that he wanted this season to be his last, and then agreed to stick around for an additional 10 episodes (likely for the network’s big crossover event).

-A Netflix romcomstarring Gina Rodriguez and Lakeith Stanfield? And it’s produced by Paul Feig? And it’s from the creator of Sweet/Vicious?? And she tweeted “I always wanted to see a romantic comedy where a woman chooses herself. So I made one”? YES YES YESSS!
