Angelina Jolie’s Family Photographer

-For Angelina Jolie‘s interview for Harper’s Bazaar, she was photographed by her youngest son, Knox. She talks about how the pandemic is affecting victims of domestic violence and girls’ education.

-In a recent interview, Lil Twist claims that Justin Bieber‘s team once convinced him to take on drug charges for the singer (likely referring to an incident in July of 2013, when he was pulled over in Bieber’s car and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana). He said: “If they would have put weed charges on Justin in his early career, it would have been bad on him. So I got a call one day saying, ‘Twist, do you really love this kid?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ They said, ‘Cool, if you love him then you can take the heat for him because you can come off a little weed charge.” Lil Twist later released a statement on his comments: “We are at a very critical point in society as we rewrite a new narrative that encompasses the experience of being Black in America. However, rewriting a new narrative requires one to stand in and speak his or her truth with confidence…In the spirit of being authentic, I felt it a disservice to my fans and the general public to not be completely transparent about my experience.”

Kristen Bell is promoting her new children’s book on racism and is getting a lot of blowback for glorifying colourblindness, as it comes perilously close to declaring Purple Lives Matter. There’s no mention of her donating the profits to a BLM charity but my god, let’s hope she’s not making money off this.

-Also, she’s in a new animated show voicing a biracial character who spends her free time drawing herself as a superhero whose afro puffs have powers? What??

Anthony Mackie appeared on Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show and gave a tearful talk about the importance of voting.

Taylor Swift is once again speaking up, using Twitter to call on the Tennessee Historical Commissions to remove statues of racist historical figures.

Jennifer Lopez and ARod are asking fans to name their new puppy and you know what guys, we are a little busy right now!

Dave Chappelle dropped a new short-form Netflix special titled “8:46,” which the streaming platform surprise debuted for free on its YouTube comedy channel late last night. (The title refers to how long Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin held his knee against George Floyd’s neck.)

Jessica Mulroney deleted all of her supportive comments to Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder, who was recently fired. Shinan is reporting that Mulroney’s family had been asking her to cut down on her social media but she wouldn’t stop.

-The Bachelor is getting its first Black leading man. Originally, Matt James was cast as a suitor on Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette but when production was halted due to COVID-19, ABC started thinking of a new role for him. (It’s really weird that there’s no mention of the fact that the show was once sued by Black men for discrimination.)

-Despite both an NYT article and a Buzzfeed article questioning if Anna Wintour can survive the social justice movement, in a company-wide town hall today at Conde Nast, Roger Lynch reportedly said there is “no truth” to the rumour that she’s stepping down. Still, the rumours continue to circulate.

-Speaking of upheavals in publications, this report on Refinery29’s workplace culture is damning.

-I love how all the Harry Potter actors are condemning J.K. Rowling‘s ant-trans comments, including Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright and Rupert Grint. The kids are alright.

-This is an interesting piece on how Rowling‘s focus on denying trans rights may seem to have come out of nowhere, but there’s a clear lineage of transphobic thought in British media.

Kelly Clarkson‘s estranged husband is also her manager, which might make this divorce even more awkward. He also manages Blake Shelton, Kelly’s The Voice co-star.

Sharon Stone revealed she was once struck by lighting: “I was filling the iron with water. I had one hand on the faucet, one hand on the iron and the well got hit with lightning and the lighting came up through the water … I got picked up and thrown across the kitchen, and I hit the refrigerator. I was like, ‘Whoa!’ ”

-Scream Factory wants to release the original version of Event Horizon. See what the Snyder Cut has wrought?!?

-The Oscars will now include a locked 10 Best Picture slots — no more variation in a move aimed at diversifying nominees by literally adding more seats at the table for the final ceremony.

Will Arnett is a dad again.

-This week was hard and listening to this weird ass new song by Glass Animals got me through it. I love how the second half of the video shows how he recorded it during quarantine.

-The trailer for Netflix’s Feel the Beat is ticking a lot of my boxes:  it looks adorably cheesy, it was shot in Toronto, it’s about dancing, and it costars the dad from Veronica Mars and the best friend from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Zac Efron Shows Off His Baywatch Muscles

Zac Efron’s new muscles are giving me nightmares. Unsubscribe!

Calvin Harris got Taylor Swift a really ugly locket for their 1 year anniversary.

Kelly Clarkson says her music label blackmailed her into working with Dr. Luke, calling him “not a good guy.”

-Because Marvel actors don’t always get the whole script, Anthony Mackie didn’t realize he was an Avenger until he was at the Age of Ultron premiere.

Sarah Jessica Parker just reminded us of the time she taught everyone the importance of backing up.

Steven Tyler is dating his former assistant who looks like his daughter. Not weird at all.

-If Tom Hiddleston is really and truly being considered for James Bond, I don’t understand life.

-I don’t understand life, part deux: Geena Davis is set to star in Fox’s reboot of The Exorcist.

-Come stand under Bette Midler’s shade tree with me. It’s lovely.

-I love that my entire Twitter feed spent the weekend screencapping Bear Grylls’ bulge. I follow a lot of pervs, apparently.

-Running a fanpage for Charlie Hunnam does not sound like a fun time.

Lil Wayne did a good thing.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth‘s relationship sounds super healthy!

Louis C.K. sends out weekly emails whenever a new episode of Horace and Pete drops which I usually ignore because I don’t watch that show — but the last one included an amazing rant about Donald Trump.

-Also angry about Trump is George Clooney, who calls him an opportunist and a fascist.

Jimmy Kimmel is going to host this year’s Emmys. He’s not my favourite, but I do love that he’s a super TV fanboy.

-This is not exactly the Melissa McCarthy-related Gilmore Girls reunion we were hoping for, but I’ll take it.

-You know what’s better than actually watching The Walking Dead? Just skipping the episodes and reading Funny or Die’s recaps instead.

-Nearly 5 million people watched a YouTube video of Keanu Reeves at a gun range. Seems logical.

-It’s weird that Britain has Mother’s Day on a different date than we do, but at least that meant Victoria Beckham didn’t have a lot of competition yesterday when it came to sweetest celebrity Mother’s Day messages.

-This is kind of impressive: Chloe Grace Moretz appeared in a skit on SNL Korea — in which everyone only spoke Korean.

-Bless anyone who can get through this Hardcore Harry trailer without puking.

-If a kids movie stars Adam Pally, Lauren Graham, Retta and Andy Daly, is that a good enough excuse to go see it?  Or does that make you the creepy old person without a child sitting in a kids movie? Asking for a friend…

Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez Split

-After months of denying marriage trouble rumours, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have announced the end of their 2-year marriage in a joint statement.

-Scandal costars Kerry Washington and Katie Lowes are teaming up to exec produce a new ABC show about nannies. Lowes was Connie Britton‘s nanny before becoming an actress, so I’m expecting a lot of hair-related storylines.

-Good on this Hollywood Reporter interviewer for really pressing the Walking Dead showrunner about the prudence of latest plot twist.

Colin Firth and Renee Zellweger are holding a baby in the latest Bridget Jones movie photos and it’s giving me the sads.

Tina Fey wrote a very touching tribute to her late father.

-Casting Jared Leto and Justin Theroux in the major male roles in The Girl on the Train surprises me. I mean, those two actors present as automatically suspicious to begin with. I guess they’re not sticking close to the book. Of course, unless Emily Blunt gains a bunch of weight, I guess that ship had already sailed anyway.

Robert Downey Jr’s response to a little boy with cystic fibrosis who is being bullied proves that he’s the goddamn best.

Anthony Mackie‘s press tour for Our Brand Is In Crisis has been it’s own brand of crisis, but his response to a reporter who was defending Man of Steel is kind of funny. “That scares me that you are reviewing movies…you have awful taste.”

-Also, here’s an interesting look at how Daniel Craig is sabotaging the Bond press tour. I love it.

-Not surprisingly, the trailer for Adam Sandler’s racist western The Ridiculous 6 leaves out all the racist stuff.

-The Voice judges competed in a karaoke challenge last night on Jimmy Fallon, and Gwen Stefani crushed it. Not surprisingly, Blake Shelton doesn’t know Drake.

-Meanwhile, Jimmy’s explanation for his new injury is…uncomfortable.

Billy Eichner teamed up with Jason Sudeikis for a bro-tastic Billy on the Street segment.

Melissa Benoist explained the feminism of Supergirl on Colbert last night and nailed it.

-Meanwhile, the first episode of Supergirl didn’t just get good ratings last night, it knocked it out of the park. Interestingly, it did better with male teens (1.7) than female teens (1.4).  (Greg Berlanti‘s other new show, Blindspot, tied Supergirl as fall’s most watched premiere, so he’s winning at life right now.)

-Speaking of Greg Berlanti, this is a good look back at when he took over at Dawson’s Creek and immediately put Joey and Pacey together. That’s the sign of a good showrunner: when they’re willing to totally change the shipper endgame once it becomes clear the original couple isn’t working. Some shows do it well, some shows refuse (I’m looking at you, HIMYM).

-I love all these rehearsal clips Beyonce and Nicki Minaj are releasing. In the latest, they take on Prince’s “Darling Nikki.

-Game of Thrones young ‘un Maisie Williams says, “I hope to never have to play a character that is only there to benefit a male lead.”

-The latest X Files trailer shows off some new monsters and includes a very cute flashlight moment.
