Lana Del Rey Plots Her Return

lana-del-rey-billboard-cover

Lana Del Rey is having a day. She’s on the cover of Billboard and she just dropped her first music video from Norman F—ing Rockwell, featuring two songs.

Miley Cyrus took to Twitter to deny reports that she cheated on Liam Hemsworth during their marriage. “Once Liam & I reconciled, I meant it, & I was committed…I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating.” I wonder if the part about “at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind” is a dig at Liam (and a confirmation about rumours that they drifted apart because of his partying)?

-Also in her Twitter thread, she reveals that she was fired from the animated film Hotel Transylavania after photos of her licking a penis cake she got Liam for his birthday hit the internet.

-ET accidentally posted an article before its scheduled release about Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello getting flirty at their VMAs performance…despite the fact that the award show hasn’t happened yet. Everyone’s pointing to this as proof that their relationship is fake and even though I’m not 100% convinced they’re legit, this doesn’t sway me either way. Do you know how many awards show articles I used to pre-write? Assuming that a couple that delivered a flirty music video will deliver an equally flirty performance of the same song doesn’t seem like a stretch.

Taylor Swift‘s long-awaited Lover album drops tomorrow, but Missy Elliott might be stealing her thunder by dropping an album tonight.

-Taylor just debuted her new video  a few minutes ago and it’s a big deal (for her) that her love interest in it is black. Also, she’s not only releasing a new album tomorrow, she’s also releasing a capsule collection with Stella McCartney. It looks like shapeless tied-dyed hipster gear to me, so I’m clearly not the target audience. And that oversized sweatshirt seems to be biting Ariana Grande‘s style.

-This thread about all the times Rob Lowe’s sons dragged him on Instagram is a good time.

Hugh Jackman invited a breast cancer fighter up on stage after seeing the sign she was holding up in the audience and I think I have something in my eye…

Sarah Michelle Gellar is heading back to TV in a Fox dramedy. My body is ready!

-Here’s the first trailer for The L Word’s return. Yeah, Shane can still get it.

-I really liked this article comparing Sean Spicer to Tom, the feckless opportunist on Succession.

-The screws are tightening on Prince Andrew. A new report claims he was seen getting foot massage from young woman at Epstein’s apartment.

-Netflix is set to release a new TV series where a guy played by Paul Rudd is quietly replaced by an all-around better guy who is… also played by Paul Rudd.

-Riverdale’s KJ Apa stars as a Christian rocker in the new trailer for the romantic drama I Still Believe.

-A small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harboring a dangerous secret in the terrifying trailer for Antlers.

Lilly Singh Is Ready for Late Night

-In the new Hollywood Reporter cover story, Canadian YouTube star-turned-late night host Lilly Singh opens up about being the first openly bisexual woman of colour to host a late night talk show.

-It’s really over: Liam Hemsworth officially filed for divorce from Miley Cyrus.

Taylor Swift confirmed her plans to re-record her masters following the Scooter Braun debacle.

-Speaking of Taylor, I really liked this look back at the last decade of her career, featuring commentary from Lainey, Allie Jones, Brittany Spanos and more.

Jessica Mulroney is jumping to BFF Meghan Markle’s defense against “racist bullies.”

James Van Der Beek is going to be on Dancing with the Stars??! Oh Dawson, no.

-Also, host Tom Bergeron called out ABC for casting Sean Spicer, which is all well and good but should he have done more than just distance himself from the decision?

-A bunch of celebs fell for an Instagram hoax yesterday.

– I really like Italia Ricci.

-There’s a lot of he said/she said coming out of the Jamie Foxx/Katie Holmes split.

Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson has been named the highest earning actor for the second year in a row which isn’t surprising. I am a little surprised that Paul Rudd cracked the top 10.

-This trailer for Bombshell, which recounts the Fox News scandal in which numerous female staffers accused Roger Ailes of sexual harassment and misconduct, is phenomenal. Megyn Kelly (a nearly unrecognizable Charlize Theron), Gretchen Carlson (Nicole Kidman), and a fictional staffer named Kayla Pospisil (Margot Robbie) tensely ride an elevator, knowing that Kayla is on her way to blow the whistle.

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s Montreal Date Night

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have taken their PDA tour to Montreal.

-Twitter is in chaos over this late-breaking Deadline report that Sony has ended its agreement with Marvel Studios, pulling Spider-Man out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Kevin Feige no longer being a part of the production of the sequels. The knee jerk reaction is that this is a really bad move on Sony’s part, who seem to believe that their success with Venom and Into the Spiderverse means they’re creatively strong enough to go it alone. But I can’t help but wonder if Disney leaked the news of the breakdown in talks to get fans all riled up and make the optics so bad they they force Sony to accept Disney’s bonkers demand for a 50/50 profit split. The next Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movie isn’t supposed to land until 2022. That’s a lot of time to weaponize fan outcry and negotiate using the press.

-Speaking of crazy movie news, Matrix 4 is officially a go with Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Lana Wachowski all signed on. What is happening today?!?

-A second person has come forward accusing Katy Perry of sexual harassment.

-This Variety cover story about how celebrities are  driving the podcast revolution is … odd. Nearly every good podcast I’ve listened to, from when I started ten years ago to today, comes from writers/journalists.

Adam Brody shot down rumours of a reboot of The OC but honestly, I could see it happening based on where all those actors ended up career-wise.

Brody Jenner is speaking up for his ex Kaitlynn Carter, saying there is “far too much negativity” being directed at her since photos of her and Miley Cyrus surfaced. Which is kind of a decent thing for him to do, so I’m very confused.

-Oh and Brody and Kaitlynn weren’t actually married. Neither were Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux. This article about all the celebrities who’ve had weddings without legally getting married is bananas.

-The most followed YouTuber, PewDiePie, just got married. The teen in your life really cares about this, trust.

-I don’t watch Neftlix’s Elite, but my entire TL was very excited about this new season 2 trailer.

-This is the time of year when TV DVD sets hit, which means this is when we get the most blooper reels. Here’s the latest from Arrow, Schitt’s Creek, and Riverdale.

-It’s crazy to me that a British dramedy that critics are comparing to Fleabag and that stars Sharon Horgan from Catastrophe and Tobias Menzies from Outlander is not only debuting this week to so little fanfare that I had never even heard about it before Sepinwall posted his review, but a bunch of TV critics whose job it is to know these things were also in the dark.

-Succession has been renewed for season 3. I love those rich assholes.

Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver break down a Marriage Story in two new teasers for Noah Baumbach‘s upcoming drama, which tells the story of a divorce from two different perspectives.
