Olivia Colman Rules in Vogue

-Yass, queen! Olivia Colman is promoting her regal turn on Netflix’s The Crown with a Vogue cover spread, and the interview is wonderful. (“Over the years, pounds have gone on, and my body has changed; I’ve had children. If someone doesn’t like me because of the size of my bum, they can f**k off. Because I’m quite a nice person to be with, actually.”) Her 73 Questions video is also as delightful as you’d expect.

-In a new interview with Hello!, Angelina Jolie says she has a new perspective on motherhood now that her kids are older: “When your children are little you feel more ‘mommy’. When they are teenagers you start to remember yourself as a teenager. You see them going to punk clubs and you wonder why you can’t go. I’m in this fun moment where I’m rediscovering myself.”

-Meanwhile, at his university in South Korea, Maddox was approached by paparazzi and asked about whether dad Brad Pitt planned to visit him at school. “I don’t know about that, what’s happening. Whatever happens, happens.”

–Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Garner is the wholesome Hollywood friendship that the world needs right now.

-Also, Kelly kicks off every episode by doing a cover, and her version of “Bad Romance” is a good time.

–Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey are launching a podcast about The Office for all your nostalgia needs.

–Drake texted Bianca Andreescu after she mentioned him in a press conference — and she then read his texts to the media. I love her so hard.

-A bunch of celebrities made a video to thank Gary Sinise for his charity work with veterans and his reaction is so sweet.

-People are loving how Rihanna staged her lingerie fashion show at NYFW.

–Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, the New York Times reporters who exposed Harvey Weinstein‘s alleged sexual misconduct, say “Gwyneth Paltrow was actually one of the first people to get on the phone … she was determined to help this investigation.”

-I’m bummed that Kathryn Hahn‘s new HBO limited series (which debuted at TIFF) isn’t getting great reviews. But very happy that Rosario Dawson‘s Briarpatch (which also screened 2 episodes at TIFF) is going over better.

-Last night’s TIFF audiences gave Renée Zellweger a rapturous, two-minute standing ovation at the screening of the Judy Garland biopic Judy.

-Speaking of movies that sparked with the TIFF crowd, Hustlers is predicted to open big this weekend.

–Joaquin Phoenix stormed off the Joker set a lot, according to the director. What is it with actors being jerks on Batman-y sets (Christian Bale, Jared Leto, Phoenix)? And the irony that this happens on a movie which critics say is about toxic masculinity is really something…

-I agree with this piece on how this might be the best fall TV season in years. There are at least three new network shows that I’m going to give a chance (Stumptown, Emergence and Nancy Drew) — which is three more than last year.

-I’ve never seen Downton Abbey, but critics are digging the movie.

-This article on influencer Caroline Calloway from her former friend/ghostwriter has the internet buzzing.

–Imogen Poots is stalked by a stranger during their Christmas break in the Black Christmas trailer.

Robert Pattinson Was “F**king Furious” Over Batman Leak

–Robert Pattinson covers Variety and the interview is great. He discusses the initial rumors that he had been cast in Matt Reeves‘ Batfilm — and he hadn’t even gotten the chance to audition yet, let alone been cast. “When that thing leaked, I was fucking furious. Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing…I’d had Batman in my mind for a while. It’s such an absurd thing to say. I sort of had an idea to do it, and I’d been prodding Matt. He didn’t accept any prods. I kept asking to meet him.” He also talks about noticing an odd career pattern while shooting his latest film, The Lighthouse: “In the last three or four movies, I’ve got a masturbation scene. I did it in High Life. I did it in Damsel. And The Devil All the Time. I only realized when I did it the fourth time. But when I saw the clay figure of the mermaid, if you’re getting turned on by that, you’re in a very strange place in your life.”

-Speaking of good cover stories, Renee Zellweger talks about her comeback in NY Mag. This is the part that’s raising eyebrows: “It’s interesting that both Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli married gay men, I say, and here she makes the most complicated and hilarious face imaginable, one that seems to say, all at once, Haven’t we all? And Go figure! ‘Cute’s cute,’ she says. ‘Handsome is handsome! Sweet is sweet. If it works…I mean, I mean! Sometimes it just doesn’t really matter. It just dudn’t. If there’s a spark, it just is, and who needs to explain it?’ (At the moment, she’s single, after a long relationship with a musician; her previous high-profile boyfriends include Bradley Cooper, Kenny Chesney, Jim Carrey, and George Clooney.)”

–Timothee Chalamet won the Venice red carpet this weekend with the suit that launched a thousand tweets.

–Brad Pitt went to Kanye West’s Sunday Service this weekend, which is…huh.

-Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood got married on Sunday. When it comes to TV star weddings I’m always intrigued by which costars showed up — and which ones didn’t. Wood’s Vampire Diaries costar Paul Wesley, Supergirl’s Odette Annable, and Kevin Smith (who directed several SG episodes), were in attendance.

-Do you think that Harry Styles realized that too many people fell in love with him because of last week’s unbelievably charming Rolling Stone interview, so he was like “F-k it, I’ll just get a bowl cut so y’all will leave me alone.”

-Congrats to Lizzo, who just earned her very first Billboard No. 1 song with “Truth Hurts.”

-This is a very, very sweet video of the Jonas Brothers showing up at a 16-year-old fan’s hospital room because she had to miss their concert due to a chemo treatment.

–This is a great piece on how shows like Fleabag, Younger, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel have ushered in a TV landscape that’s less interested in fairy-tale endings than the challenges of modern love.

-Speaking of TV, here’s my picks for the 10 new shows to watch this fall.

-Apple+ is not moving forward with its Richard Gere drama. It’s not a good sign that Apple reportedly did not like the show’s “tone of vigilante justice” and is looking for more “aspirational programming” (which sounds way too close to the happy/earnest vibe Disney+ is going for). On the plus side, maybe it’s ok that the show is dead because the premise sounds *horrible*: two elderly Vietnam veterans’ “lifelong regrets and secrets collide with their resentment of today’s self-absorbed millennials, and the duo go on a shooting spree.”

–Christoph Waltz and Liam Hemsworth are going to star in a new Quibi series. It feels like every other day some major star signs onto Quibi, and I still don’t really get what it is.

-Critics are really, really digging the new Joker movie, which premiered at Venice over the weekend. I’m waiting for more female critics to weigh in before I decide if I’m going to see it in theatres.

-I can’t believe how much I laughed at the Between Two Ferns movie trailer. “You killed Matthew McConaughey!”

–Taika Waititi skewers Hitler in the new Jojo Rabbit trailer. This is the only ticket I’m really wishing I would have scored for TIFF this weekend, but it sold out SO FAST.

Tom Holland’s Got Moves

–Tom Holland does ballet? What can’t this kid do?

–Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello stepped out for a very paparazzi-friendly brunch this weekend. Hmmm. (They were also spotted away from the paps enjoying a late-night snuggle, so either they’re legit or they’re very committed to selling it.)

–Sarah Jessica Parker says she once reported the inappropriate behavior of a male costar (a “very big movie star”) to her agent. Luckily, her agent didn’t ignore her. “Within hours everything had changed. He said to them, ‘If this continues, I have sent her a ticket, a one-way ticket out of this city and she will not be returning.'”

-This is an interesting look at why stars have no interest in hosting award shows anymore.

-I love that Princess Diana‘s sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, were a big part of Archie’s christening.

-A co-star alleged actor Kip Pardue, who plays one of the dads in Marvel’s Runaways, masturbated without consent in front of her. SAG imposed a $6,000 fine, did not release the information to the industry and gave him the option of reducing the fine by 50% if he takes an online training course.

–Wendy Williams returned to her talk show and denied romantic involvement with 27-year-old Marc Tomblin, who she was photographed in June. She also talked about her recent “plant-based lunch” with Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and Kris Jenner, and apologized for bailing on a dinner with Dr. Oz.

-Radiohead’s Thom Yorke stans Billie Eilish. He’s no fan of Sam Smith or Muse, tho.

–Ryan Reynolds is joining Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot in Red Notice, an art heist movie which is moving from Universal to Netflix.  It’ll be Neflix’s most expensive movie to date.

-I really enjoyed the new season of Stranger Things — but I don’t believe for a second that that ending will stick.

-Also, Robin is an great new addition to the show. Ethan Hawke (the actress’ dad) is so proud on Instagram.

-Jaden Smith launched a pop up vegan food truck to serve the homeless.

–Terry Crews is campaigning hard to play King Triton in the Little Mermaid live action adaptation, and I don’t hate it.

-A writer revealed that in 2002 she wrote a profile of Jeffrey Epstein for Vanity Fair that included a mother and her two daughters talking about his inappropriate interest in underage girls, but Graydon Carter cut that from the story. This guy had a ton of people in high places protecting him. Now that he’s locked up, everyone’s wondering if there’s going to be any blowback on his famous friends, who include Trump, Kevin Spacey, Bill Clinton, Chris Tucker and Prince Andrew. The fallout from this one might be huge.

–Renee Zellweger channels Judy Garland in the first full trailer for Judy, which feels less like a movie and more like a “for your consideration” reel.

–Angelina Jolie is back to being a baddie in the Maleficent 2 trailer.
