Timothée Chalamet Interviews Zendaya for Elle

Zendaya-elle

-I have extreme sneaker envy over Zendaya’s Elle cover. She’s interviewed by Dune costar Timothée Chalamet so the article itself is as substantial as cotton candy, but the photo spread is excellent.

-After months and months of John Oliver lusting after him, Adam Driver appeared on his show to ask “What the f**k are you doing?” He (fake) ranted “This bit? This bit, this thing you’ve been doing that’s either sexual or violent? This strange, strange bit that for some reason you’ve pulled me into? What is it? When you first started doing it, it was easy for me to shrug it off. But then it kept going on, and on, and on, and on… Do you realize, over this past year, what you’ve asked me to do to you? ‘Collapse on your chest.’ ‘Tie your fingers in a square knot.’ ‘Step on your throat.’ ‘Shatter your knees.’ ‘Pull your heart out through your ear.’ What’s wrong with you? You realize we’re strangers, right? I don’t know you. And now, random people on the internet stan us, claiming that you thirsting over me is a mood.” I love them both so much.

Gillian-Anderson-Margaret-Thatcher-The-Crown

Gillian Anderson is on the December cover of Harper’s Bazaar, in which she talks about putting her personal politics aside to play Margaret Thatcher in the new season of The Crown. “I had to get to a point where it’s nothing to do with my opinions of her policies, of her actions. It is only about her as a human being and her motivation as a politician and as a mother.”

-If I had to guess which famous white woman would wear cornrows, Kristen Bell would have been near the top of my list. Prayer circle that it’s for a role, but I’m guessing nah.

-Megachurch Hillsong tried to dump this news during all the election drama, but head pastor Carl Lentz (who used to be tight with Justin Bieber), has been fired due to “ongoing discussions in relation to leadership issues and breaches of trust, plus a recent revelation of moral failures.” Lentz has since released a statement on Instagram, saying he was “unfaithful” to his wife.

Issa Rae Talks Emmy Nominations

issa-rae-thr-cover

Issa Rae covers the new issue of THR and talks about her Emmy nominations (“Awards don’t validate you. They allow more people to know about the series, like, ‘Oh, what is this?’ That’s all you want”), why she thinks the Emmys recognized Insecure this year (“I’m going to be real. I think the pandemic, being quarantined during a period when our humanity was questioned, in a more front-facing way, definitely helped. We came on during a time when people were bored at home, and also there were racial uprisings, and our show served as a comfort”), and her love of I May Destroy You (“It’s amazing. It’s really disturbing. The conversations that have [been] sparked around it are just so necessary. I almost wish it had come sooner. It’s going to be so impactful to a generation of people”).

-Speaking of CBS, they’re having issues with yet another problematic white dude showrunner. This one is the guy behind All Rise (which has a black female leave – a rarity on that network). Five writers from the original seven hired have left the drama over disputes with showrunner Greg Spottiswood about the depictions of race and gender. He kept his job after reviews by human resources. Said one writer: “We had to do so much behind the scenes to keep these scripts from being racist and offensive.”
