–Jennifer Garner hosted Judy Greer on Instagram Live to talk about sobriety and the whole convo was interesting (she calls her pal “J-Gers”), but all anyone can talk about is the sparkler on her ring finger.

–Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson were spotted out together yet again, this time at a NYC private club. I have no idea what’s going on with these two, but if we know about this, it’s because she wants us to know about this.

-Meanwhile, this piece on Pete Davidson being a rare straight male muse is fascinating. “Davidson has carved out a niche for himself as a master of the fleeting engagement: the person you meet on an app, see for a few months, then part ways with as though you’d never met. His flings resemble the sorts of ephemeral attachments that many of his fans are likely most familiar with. More common than love, quite possibly a waste of time, with the potential to be much more destructive, but hard to avoid, if you don’t want to be alone.”

–Cardi B and Kal Penn‘s twitter exchange about her officiating his wedding is hella cute.

-Speaking of unusual wedding officiants, Kristen Stewart joked about having Guy Fieri do hers — and seems thrilled that he said yes.

–Stewart also talked about her engagement on The Tonight Show. “Knocked it out of the park. I scored.”

-Shortly after Jay-Z became the first person followed by Beyoncé on Instagram, he deleted his account. I get it — too much pressure!

–Matthew Hutchins, the husband of late Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has retained California-based law firm that specializes in wrongful death litigation.

–Dwayne Johnson is pledging to stop using real firearms on all projects produced by his company. “We’re going to switch over to rubber guns, and we’re going to take care of it in post… We won’t worry about what it costs.”

-Meanwhile, Johnson’s Netfllix movie with Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot is at 37% rotten.

–Shailene Woodley‘s name trended on Twitter yesterday when it was revealed her fiancé Aaron Rodgers isn’t vaccinated — because god forbid we hold grown ass men responsible for their own actions when we can blame it on their partners.

-In a new memoir, Natalie Wood’s sister Lana claims that Kirk Douglas sexually assaulted Natalie when she was a teenager.

-Twitter is dragging Chris Pratt for his post about his wife. You love to see it.

-This is a great look back at the Buffy musical episode, which aired 20 years ago(!) this week.

–Mahershala Ali plays a dying man who considers getting cloned so his family won’t know he’s gone in the trailer for Apple+’s Swan Song, costarring Glenn Close, Naomie Harris, Awkwafina and Adam Beach.

-The Hating Game is my fave romcom book, and the trailer for its adaptation has arrived! I wish Robbie Amell hadn’t had to drop out of this, because I’m not convinced of the chemistry based on the trailer, but I’m still going to watch the shit out of this.

Gwyneth Paltrow Strikes Again

-Remember when Gwyneth Paltrow pretended to be responsible for the yoga trend? Now she’s trying to claim the same about face masks. Sit down, lady.

-People really had Megan Thee Stallion‘s new Harper’s cover — but she’s into it.

-We always heard that the people behind the votes for the Golden Globe Awards were susceptible to um, influence, but a new Los Angeles Times report about the shenanigans behind this year’s nominations is especially eye opening. That much ridiculed nomination for Emily In Paris makes a lot more sense when you read “Paramount Network treated [more than 30 members] to a two-night stay at the five-star Peninsula Paris hotel, where rooms currently start at about $1,400 a night, and a news conference and lunch at the Musée des Arts Forains, a private museum filled with amusement rides dating to 1850 where the show was shooting.” Oh, and the HFPA also has no Black members!

–Meghan Markle and Prince Harry surprised a Texas women’s shelter by giving them the funds to replace their roof damaged in the brutal winter storm.

-Meanwhile, the royal family may be trying to steal the spotlight from Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah by airing their own TV address.

-A settlement deal has been reached in a 2019 lawsuit alleging that James Franco intimidated his students into sexual situations at the acting school he founded.

–Daft Punk’s publicist confirmed the band has split up.  We really are living in the darkest timeline, aren’t we?

–Chris D’Elia broke his silence on those allegations of pursuing underage girls in a long YouTube video. He says he was a sex addict — which doesn’t explain or excuse the underage part.

-With all the awful clips of interviewers like David Letterman treating young female stars like crap, this old clip makes me appreciate Strombo even more.

–Gillian Anderson is finding a niche playing 20th century female political icons. She’ll follow up her turn as Margaret Thatcher in The Crown by playing Eleanor Roosevelt in Showtime’s upcoming anthology series The First Lady.

-SNL is hit and miss at the best of times these days, but Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page certainly showed off his chops this weekend. He sang, he danced, he did accents, he smoldered. It was basically an audition reel for casting directors. I’m not mad about it.

-Here’s our first look at Claire Danes in Apple+’s Victorian-era drama series The Essex Serpent, based on the Sarah Perry novel.

–Hope Davis is joining the Succession cast in season three. She’ll play Sandi Furness, not to be confused with her mom, Logan’s long-time rival, Sandy Furness.

-Meanwhile, Succession’s Nicholas Braun heard about Kim Kardashian‘s divorce filing and is shooting his shot. “Would you be down to meet a new person, totally just kind of different guy? One who could, you know, make you laugh a little bit or make you feel small cause he’s so tall.”

-This lawyer explained why Kris Jenner would have wanted to make it it clear in the press that Kim and Kanye separated days before Kanye’s class action suits were supposed to hit in January. And now the date of separation wasn’t listed in the divorce filing — because the press articles from January will be used to prove the date. That’s both diabolical and impressive.

–Zack Snyder wanted to add a romance between Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne and Amy Adams’s Lois Lane in Justice League. “The intention was that Bruce fell in love with Lois and then realized that the only way to save the world was to bring Superman back.” I’m not sure what’s worse – the total misread of Bruce’s character, or using a female character as complex as Lois just to motivate a dude.

-Modern Love season two is going to feature a ton of familiar faces, including Kit Harington, Anna Paquin, Minnie Driver and Garrett Hedlund.

-I really liked Nomadland but I understand the criticisms it’s getting, especially it’s oddly gentle treatment of Amazon and the gig labor economy.

-Netflix’s The Irregulars, about teens who assist Sherlock Holmes and Watson, premieres March 26. Here’s the first trailer.

–Kendall Jenner offers a look inside her Los Angeles home in the September issue of Architectural Digest. I’m surprised by how much I like this.

–Meghan Markle has agreed to pay more than £67,000 in legal costs after losing the first round of her legal battle against the Mail.

–Armie Hammer is tweeting again. Not surprisingly, it’s not going well.

-Man, I’m really digging Seth Rogen these days. His new movie that’s dropping on HBO Max/Crave next week looks great, he’s repeated slammed people who comment AllLivesMatter on his posts, and in Marc Maron‘s podcast, he said when he was younger he wasn’t told Palestinians lived on land that became Israel. “I also think that as a Jewish person, like I was fed a huge amount of lies about Israel my entire life. You know, they never tell you, that oh by the way, there were people there. They make it seem like it was– just sitting there. Oh the fucking door’s open! … Literally they forget to include the fact to every young Jewish person: Basically, oh by the way, there were people living there.”

–Megan Thee Stallion showed off the flowers she got from Beyonce and Rihanna following her shooting.

-Meanwhile, Vulture’s piece on the reaction to what happened to her is well worth your time. “Try to recall another time when a rapper went into surgery for multiple gunshot wounds and it became instant gag fodder.”

–Taylor Swift stans continue to go after the Pitchfork reviewer. This is insane. Not that ANY review would justify this kind of reaction, but she liked the album! She gave it 8/10!

-Speaking of disturbing fan behaviour, Kate Beckinsale used IG stories to document getting an “unsettling” gift — someone anonymously dropped off a rabbit in a cage along with a basket of rose petals on her front door.

–Post Malone appeared on Joe Rogan’s show (ugh) and talked about masks. The singer, whose lifestyle brand donated 40,000 N95 masks to frontline medical workers, doesn’t think masks should be mandatory. “It’s like me in school having to tuck in my shirt or else you get detention. It’s weird to be forced to wear something … At the end of the day, it all comes down to respect for other people. It’s not a government thing. You shouldn’t be forced to wear a mask — but you should. And that’s because I respect you as a follow human.”

–Marti Noxon and Kater Gordon, who previously called out Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner for harassment, wrote a column about how the industry can better protect staff from toxic showrunners in light of the news that Weiner has a new development deal with FX.

–Cameron Diaz chatted with Seth Meyers about quarantining with her husband, Benji Madden, and their 7-month-old daughter, Raddix. She was doing promo for her new wine line — which might have gone better had she not poured herself a glass over ice.

-The Emmy Awards have confirmed the ceremony will be completely virtual in a message to nominees, in which they note: “If you want to be in formal wear, we’d love that, but equally if you’re in the UK and it’s 3am, perhaps you want to be in designer pajamas and record from your bed!” Aw man, this is going to be so weird.

–Yahya Abdul-Mateen II‘s reaction to getting an Emmy nomination for his role in Watchmen is so pure.

-But no one — I mean no one — does an Emmy reaction better than Glow’s Betty Gilpin. This year’s statement might be her best yet: “To the Television Academy — how dare you. I really can’t stress enough how much of a threat this nomination is to my current quarantine brand of pasta and sad. In the Time Before, being born with a healthy protective emotional wall missing meant I got to channel that into pretend time in exchange for health insurance and claps. Until today, apparently here in the apocalypse, these skills were about as meaningful as a worm’s hymn in a canyon. I’d like to thank the cast and crew, and the Academy, and seasonal depression, and honestly Nathan Lane, and before this nomination phoenixes me out of mediocrity and I explode into ribbons just real quick the cops who killed Breonna Taylor still have not been arrested.”

–Kieran Culkin saying he’ll punch Succession costar Nicholas Braun ‘in the balls‘ if he beats him is also a pretty great reaction.

-Meanwhile, Nicholas Braun released a pandemic track called ‘Antibodies’ to encourage people to donate to Partners in Health and The COPE Program, two organizations working to help those most vulnerable and affected by coronavirus. The song is both hilarious and incredibly catchy. Go, Cousin Greg!!

–Tracy Morgan and his wife, Megan Wollover, are splitting after five years of marriage.

–Annie Lennox called out Madonna for posting some BS covid conspiracy theories on her Instagram.

-The first photos from Netflix’s Ratched, Ryan Murphy‘s prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest starring Sarah Paulson, looks predictably kooky. Is that Sharon Stone with a … monkey?

-Rapper Malik B, a founding member of The Roots, has died at 47.

-Netflix announced it will be adding seven classic Black sitcoms to its library in an initiative lead by @StrongBlackLead. The shows are: Moesha, The Game, Sister Sister, Girlfriends, The Parkers, Half & Half, and One on One. I’m definitely due for a Girlfriends binge, but so far this looks like it’s US-only.

–Dua Lipa confirmed that a side b of Future Nostalgia is coming.

–Ashley Judd won her appeal, allowing her to go forward with her sexual harassment claim against Harvey Weinstein.

–Lili Reinhart tries to recover from an accident in the Chemical Hearts trailer, which will debut on Amazon Prime.
