Rihanna’s Sneaky Sephora Set Up

-In a new ad for Fenty Skin, Rihanna sneaks into a Sephora to set up the display herself. God, I already know I’m gonna buy so much of this stuff…

–Ali Larter has responded to former costar Leonard Roberts‘ essay about her poor treatment of him on the Heroes set with a half-ass apology: “I am heartbroken reading his perception of our relationship, which absolutely doesn’t match my memory nor experience on the show…I am truly sorry for any role I may have played in his painful experience during that time and I wish him and his family the very best.” So basically, she doesn’t remember it but oopsie if she offended.

-I’m surprised big names keep signing on to Facebook Watch shows, which have negative zero buzz. Cardi B is going to star in a new series called Cardi Tries ____, in which she becomes a ballet dancer, stunt driver, and firefighter.

-Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner is sick of anti-maskers: “If I can wear a mask while I give birth, you can wear a mask at Walmart.”

–Leah Remini has no time for people who are praising Tom Cruise’s on-set rant, reminding everyone that his ties to Scientology disqualify him from preaching safety. “Tom does not care about the families of his crew; this is all for publicity. Tom does not believe in family values. I mean, how anyone is falling for this is just mind-blowing.”

-Everyone’s digging the 2020 “love it, couldn’t wear it” fashion dog, including Sofia Vergara.

–Diane Kruger covers Vogue Greece and talks about being scary skinny in her modeling days.

–Kaley Cuoco says “they’re hoping” The Flight Attendant comes back for a second season — which kind of bums me out seeing as how well they just wrapped up the first season.

-Oof. David E Kelly’s response to criticism on how his new ABC Big Sky erases indigenous women is not great.

-I’m so confused about why Nancy Meyers‘ daughter got offended by the retrospective Vulture has been running on her mother’s movies this week. I’m equally confused by all the famous women who seem to agree with her. It’s not sexiest to praise the specificity of her mom’s work. I liked this take: “Costume design is an art and Nancy’s masterful use of clothing should be celebrated, not ignored.”

-The trailer for Walker, starring Jared Padalecki, actually looks ok?

–Tina Fey says she thought she heard a man calling for help in the Hudson River, so she called the police. It turned out it was a guy who flipped a kayak in the Hudson and was floating north with no oar.

–Rachael Leigh Cook, the star of 1999’s She’s All That, will reprise her role as Lainey Boggs — playing the mother of TikTok star Addison Rae‘s character in the gender-swapped remake. God, that makes me feel old.

–Frances McDormand starring in a Sarah Polley-directed film sounds like a dream.

-I very much agree with Lin-Manuel Miranda’s take here: “When theater comes back it’s going to be in conversation with technology in an entirely different way. I don’t think we go back to a world where a show premieres on Broadway, and then no one can see it unless they have $200.”

-My god, one of the Hanson brothers now has seven kids.

-It looks like Adele is recording new music. Huzzah!

-Marvel has released yet another WandaVision promo, including a shot of Wanda and Vision with two children, leading fans to speculate that they’ll have twin boys like in the comic.

-Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Shadow And Bone, their adaptation of the wildly successful YA novel.

–Justin Timberlake connects with abandoned young boy in the Palmer trailer. This was the movie that he was filming when he was spotted getting too cozy with his costar which, judging by the trailer, is the most interesting thing about it.

-The royal family’s post-The Crown damage control continues with William and Kate’s holiday card and a People cover story on how Kate Middleton isn’t a pushover. Um, good for her?

-I was really surprised that when the Tom Cruise audio leaked last night, the immediate reaction seemed to be mostly “go, Tom!” I mean yes, we all want to yell at dummies who break covid protocols, but I just kept thinking about how awful it would be to have a boss who berates you like that in public. And the power imbalance of subordinates getting screamed at by one of the most powerful actors in the world is yucky. I’m sure it had to be said but I’m not sure that was the best way to say it, and if this audio leaked at any other time he would be stuck with a Christian Bale “get out of my eyeline!” level scandal.

–George Clooney says he supports Cruise, though he might have handled it differently. “I think it doesn’t help necessarily to point to specific people in that way and do it that…but, you know, everybody has their own style. The people who were on that shoot will tell us more about it. I understand why he did it. He’s not wrong at all about that. You know, I just, I don’t know that I would have done it quite that personally, but I don’t know all the circumstances so maybe he had [done it differently] 10 or 15 times before.”

-Also, the fact that Hollywood productions keep getting magical passes to keep things going during lockdown remains weird to me.

-The West Wing star Richard Schiff says it was “touch and go” when he was hospitalized with covid.

–Cardi B is facing backlash after throwing a packed birthday bash for Offset with no masks or social distancing. I guess she’s learned nothing from her Thanksgiving gathering.

–Leonard Roberts wrote a harrowing first-person account of his fraught time on the NBC show Heroes. Costar Ali Larter comes off particularly bad.

–Tyrese’s Instagram captions are truly chaotic.

–Kaley Cuoco had to fend off questions about ex-boyfriend Henry Cavill on Watch What Happens Live.

–Pharrell Williams defended Taylor Swift in her ongoing battle with Scooter Braun over the rights to her masters in an interview with Variety.

-Disney reportedly ‘balked‘ at executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s idea of bringing back Johnny Depp for a cameo in the female-centric Pirates Of The Caribbean spin-off.

-The Lizzie McGuire reboot is officially dead. It seemed doomed from the start: production was already under way when the Disney+ show was shut down, its original creator/showrunner was fired, Hilary Duff was vocal about a move to Hulu, and a search for a new showrunner came up empty.

–Lana Del Rey is reportedly engaged to Clayton Johnson, who she just started dating.

–Matthew McConaughey continues to whine about the “illiberal left“.

-Wonder Woman 1984 has released its opening scene.
