Lana Del Rey Plots Her Return

–Lana Del Rey is having a day. She’s on the cover of Billboard and she just dropped her first music video from Norman F—ing Rockwell, featuring two songs.

–Miley Cyrus took to Twitter to deny reports that she cheated on Liam Hemsworth during their marriage. “Once Liam & I reconciled, I meant it, & I was committed…I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating.” I wonder if the part about “at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind” is a dig at Liam (and a confirmation about rumours that they drifted apart because of his partying)?

-Also in her Twitter thread, she reveals that she was fired from the animated film Hotel Transylavania after photos of her licking a penis cake she got Liam for his birthday hit the internet.

-ET accidentally posted an article before its scheduled release about Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello getting flirty at their VMAs performance…despite the fact that the award show hasn’t happened yet. Everyone’s pointing to this as proof that their relationship is fake and even though I’m not 100% convinced they’re legit, this doesn’t sway me either way. Do you know how many awards show articles I used to pre-write? Assuming that a couple that delivered a flirty music video will deliver an equally flirty performance of the same song doesn’t seem like a stretch.

–Taylor Swift‘s long-awaited Lover album drops tomorrow, but Missy Elliott might be stealing her thunder by dropping an album tonight.

-Taylor just debuted her new video  a few minutes ago and it’s a big deal (for her) that her love interest in it is black. Also, she’s not only releasing a new album tomorrow, she’s also releasing a capsule collection with Stella McCartney. It looks like shapeless tied-dyed hipster gear to me, so I’m clearly not the target audience. And that oversized sweatshirt seems to be biting Ariana Grande‘s style.

-This thread about all the times Rob Lowe’s sons dragged him on Instagram is a good time.

–Hugh Jackman invited a breast cancer fighter up on stage after seeing the sign she was holding up in the audience and I think I have something in my eye…

Meghan Markle Launches Charity Fashion Line

–Meghan Markle revealed never-before-seen pregnancy pics on Instagram for the launch of her new workwear clothing collection, available at British retailers in the fall. The proceeds will benefit the charity Smart Works, which helps provide clothing and interview coaching to unemployed women. Given how scrutinized and beloved her style is, this is such a great choice. (Plus, we Canadians know it’s not her first time doing a workwear line.)

-After a ton of criticism, Mario Lopez is backtracking on his “ignorant” comments about raising transgender children.

-Jane the Virgin ends tonight and the season finale is getting glowing reviews.

-For J.K. Rowling’s birthday, Emma Watson shared a scary/cute photo of the duo hanging out at a costume party with her co-star Evanna Lynch.

–Celine Dion does not appreciate reports that her close friend Pepe has too much influence over her.

–Lana Del Rey just announced she’s dropping a new album next month (with Jack Antonoff) and I really need it. Also, apparently it’s ok if you’ve fallen behind (like me). The episode explains enough that you can just jump back in.

–Hannah and Tyler haven’t had time to get that drink yet. I don’t really know what any of that means, but my Twitter TL seems *super* psyched about it.

–Angelina Jolie‘s kids are digging the fact that she’s going to be in the Marvel universe.

-The trailer for Martin Scorsese‘s highly-anticipated (and VERY expensive) Netflix drama The Irishman has arrived, and everyone’s freaked out by the “de-aging” visual effects.

 

What’s Really Going On Between Prince William and Prince Harry?

-Pop culture writer Nicole Cliffe tweeted a speculative thread about the royal scandal  this weekend and it is one big pot of piping hot tea!

-Speaking of interesting Twitter threads about the royals, this is a good one on Meghan Markle’s coverage.

-So I guess those rumors that Emma Roberts has moved on from Evan Peters are true. She was photographed holding hands with Garrett Hedlund.

-This is a really interesting look at all the lawsuits surrounding Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” and the age of pop plagiarism.

-Meanwhile, Grande dined at one of my fave Montreal restaurants yesterday, and dropped a bisexual-teasing video today.

–Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin‘s big April Fool’s joke was a fake ultrasound image, which went over REAL well with his fanbase. .

-Congrats to Issa Rae, who got engaged to her longterm boyfriend.

–Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson are still a thing? This will never not surprise me.

-HBO debuted a new new Game of Thrones promo this weekend.

–Lupita Nyong’O has handled the controversy surrounding her inspiration for her Us character so, so well.

-Weirdly, I somehow follow a lot of people on Twitter who watch WWE, so I was a bit aware of how badly wrestlers were being treated. But this segment on John Oliver‘s Last Week Tonight was eye-opening.

-A Los Angeles police spokeswoman says a “huge” manhunt is underway to find the suspect who shot and killed rapper Nipsey Hussle on Sunday afternoon.

-This would *suck*: Lana Del Rey says she accidentally dropped her laptop in the studio and lost all the song files from her new album that was ready for release in the next few months.

-For the 20th anniversary of the premiere of Strangers With Candy, Stephen Colbert, Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello look back on the early days of their friendship. I still can’t really believe that show made it on air. I loved it but it was so. out. there.

-This is good casting: Cillian Murphy is currently in talks to star alongside Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place 2.

–Mark-Paul Gosselaar says he fired his mom as his manager when he was 19 and realized she didn’t know what she was doing.

-In today’s “networks need to know when to let shows die” news, Emily Bett Richards has announced she’s leaving Arrow before the end of its run. I think this bums me out even more than the announcement that the show will end with a 10-episode season because I thought they could wrap it all up well, but now it’s going to be a mess. Stephen Amell said he warned execs last year that he was done after this current season so my guess is the show was writing them both out (because her character is so integral to his story), while trying to figure out ways to keep the series going without its two leads, which is why there’s been a trillion new characters introduced this season. But when they realized the newbies weren’t catching on with the audience, they decided to scramble together a short final season and convinced Amell to do another 10 episodes for the crossover — but by then Rickards had already booked another gig.

-In any case, Amell’s IG post about her leaving is very sweet — and seems to have riled up the comic fanboys, so that’s always a plus.

-Speaking of superhero TV, Legends of Tomorrow returns tonight! I love that they tried to make the guy who played Biff in Back to the Future the big bad – but then they all fell in love with the actor so now he’s just a regular character.

–Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini deal with grief in the trailer for Netflix’s new show Dead to Me.

-The cast for Jim Jarmusch‘s zombie comedy The Dead Don’t Die is insane: Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, and Selena Gomez.
