-There’s nothing like a classic Friday afternoon news dump! According to Page Six, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have called off their two-year engagement.  (People and E! News is also reporting it.) There’s been rumours of trouble ever since that mess with Southern Charm’s Madison.

-The weekend is here! Celebrate by gazing on these glorious photos of Lady Gaga feeding Adam Driver.

Jennifer Garner just experienced a big life milestone at 48 – she got her ears pierced.

-This Sunday’s Grammy Awards are going to look like a real award show — meaning no Zoom.

Elton John says he’ll “hit someone” if Phoebe Bridgers doesn’t win a Grammy on Sunday night. I’ll help.

-Ottawa Public Health has been crushing it on Twitter during covid, and now Ryan Reynolds is chiming in.

-The Mail’s doubling down on their story about “doctored” headlines in the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interview.

-In his Men’s Health cover story, Michael B. Jordan talks about those rumours that his romance with Lori Harvey is a PR stunt. “I can’t do anything about that, and I’ve just got to accept that and keep moving in my purpose. People that know me know my heart. But people that know me for my work…they know what I allow them to know. The fact that I’ve been so closed off about a lot of parts of my life was a personal choice. As I’ve gotten older and a little more mature and comfortable in my own skin, I’ve become less concerned about it.”

Yara Shahidi was honoured in Glamour UK’s Women of the Year Awards. I watched The Sun Is Also A Star last weekend and spent the whole movie mesmerized by her face.

-Sad there’s no new WandaVision dropping today? A new Disney+ documentary takes viewers inside the making of the show.

-I really like this point about criticisms of Wanda not facing consequences for what she did to Westview. How many fans are calling for Clint to be held accountable for his crimes? Or Tony? Or Bucky?

-Full reviews for Falcon and the Winter Solider are still under embargo, but critics have taken to Twitter to share their initial reactions to the first episode — and it’s all very positive. It sound like it’s going to be much more of a shoot ’em up adventure show than WandaVision was, but there are still some quiet character moments.

Sharon Osbourne is now apologizing for supporting Piers Morgan. “To anyone of colour that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry.” Her initial meltdown in this clip was textbook white privilege: demanding a Black woman explain racism to her, centering the issue on herself, and weaponizing her tears.

-Ohhhh, people are so mad at Grey’s Anatomy after last night’s episode!

Rebekah Weatherspoon‘s Cowboys of California trilogy is being optioned for TV. Two years ago when I made a concerted effort to stop reading books with only white protags, it lead me to romance (’cause that’s really the only genre that is crushing it, diversity-wise) and this series was the first one I read all the way through.

Hilary Duff is pregnant and she wants the world to know about a symptom that’s called “lightning crotch.”

Peyton List and Lili Taylor star in the Paper Spiders trailer which got raves on the festival circuit.

Lady Gaga and Adam Driver’s Winter Wonderland

Lady Gaga tweeted a photo of her and Adam Driver on the set of House of Gucci and it’s so perfect, it quickly became a meme. She’s playing Patrizia Reggiani and he stars as Maurizio Gucci.

-The Queen released a short statement regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s bombshell Oprah interview — and she’s pleading ignorance? Oof.

Piers Morgan walked off the set of his morning show when co-presenter Alex Beresford confronted him on his treatment of Markle, saying, “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You’ve made it so clear a number of times on this program, a number of times, and I understand that you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle, or you had one, and she cut you off. She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has but yet you continue to trash her.”

-Ha ha ha. He’s now quit the show. What a snowflake.

-Meanwhile, a 2008 interview clip of John Oliver on Stephen Colbert’s show talking about Markle has resurfaced. “I would not blame her if she pulled out of this [engagement] at the last minute. I don’t think you need to have just seen the pilot episode of The Crown to get a basic sense that she might be marrying into a family that could cause her some emotional complication. They’re an emotionally stunted group of fundamentally flawed people doing a very silly pseudo-job. That’s what she’s marrying into.”

-The Crown won’t tackle Prince Harry and Meghan Markle because their drama is ongoing and not yet history. Creator Peter Morgan has previously said, “I’m much more comfortable writing about things that happened at least 20 years ago…Meghan and Harry are in the middle of their journey, and I don’t know what their journey is or how it will end.”

-Meanwhile, I really liked this piece on how Oprah uses silence better than anyone, and this one on her follow up questions and insistence on circling back when she wasn’t getting the answers she wanted.

George Clooney isn’t thrilled that Amal has begun watching ER. He told Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman and Will Arnett on their podcast: “My wife is watching them now and it’s getting me in a lot of trouble because I’d forgotten all of the terrible things (my character) was doing, picking up women.”

Elizabeth Banks is set to direct bear-centric thriller called Cocaine Bear, based on true events from 1985 when a 175-pound bear accidentally consumed over 70 ponds of cocaine that was dropped from a plane by a smuggler. I’m confused by how much I want to see this.

-Here’s the first look at Heels, the new wrestling family drama series starring Stephen Amell and Alex Ludwig. I’m also confused by how much I want to see this.

-The wording in the announcement about Kim Convenience’s ending seemed weird, no? The stars also seemed surprised by the news.

-There was a big glitch last night on HBO Max where people who were trying to watch Tom and Jerry ended up seeing Zach Synder’s Justice League — which doesn’t premiere for another 10 days. This thing is cursed.

-I agree with this piece: releasing episodes weekly makes television more fun to watch.

-WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer talked to the NYT about how she found inspiration in Lost, Russian Doll, Homecoming and Forever.

-Love this: Schitt’s Creek alum Annie Murphy has joined the cast of Russian Doll for Season 2.

Michael Sheen says he’s spent the last few weeks battling covid. “It’s been very difficult and quite scary.”

-The 2021 BAFTA Awards nominations list is the most diverse in the British Academy’s history. It comes just a year after it was embroiled in the #BaftaSoWhite controversy, sparking a 7-month review and overhaul of the voting rules and regulations.

Zayn Malik is the latest musician to slam the Grammys, tweeting, “Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations. Next year I’ll send you a basket of confectionary.”

Another woman has joined the victims accusing rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny Harris of sexual assault, abuse, and drugging.

-Here’s the trailer for Kung-Fu, the CW’s gender-reversed reimagining  of the 1972 David Carradine series, premiering April 7.

Taylor Swift Blasts Netflix

Taylor Swift called out Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia for what she called a “lazy, deeply sexist” and “horse shit” joke they made about her during season finale of the show. Not to defend the show (which is a mess), but the way that joke was positioned, we’re *supposed* to think it was cruel/below the belt, not that the show was endorsing the sentiment. But I’m sure Netflix appreciates the sudden free publicity…

-Last night everyone was supposed to be talking about the Golden Globes, but then CBS dropped two promos of Harry and Meghan‘s chat with Oprah, which stole the spotlight. Leading with O’s “Were you silent or were you SILENCED?” surely helped get it trending. And Meghan didn’t say a word in either trailer, making it harder for the British press to pre-emptively attack her.

-Meanwhile, The Golden Globes were a slog. Considering how smoothly both the Emmys and the Daytime Emmys were, I was surprised how clunky this was.

Taylor Simone Ledward’s acceptance of late husband Chadwick Boseman‘s was the show’s emotional highlight.

Fashion-wise, I loved Anna Taylor-Joy, Regina King and Cynthia Erivo.

Jason Sudeikis wore a hoodie to support his sister’s dance studio, and it’s now sold out.

Gal Gadot announced she’s pregnant by tweeting a photo her her husband holding her belly and the caption “Here we go again.”

Lady Gaga‘s dog walker Ryan Fischer posted on Instagram about being shot during last Wednesday’s violent kidnapping of the singer’s dogs, telling Gaga “Your babies are back and the family is whole… we did it!”

-At least 10 women and one man are accusing T.I. and Tiny of multiple sex, weapons and drugging crimes spanning 15 years.

-On a podcast, Paris Hilton recalled “cruel” treatment from David Letterman and Sarah Silverman.

Angelina Jolie‘s painting by Winston Churchill sold for $11.5M at auction.

-Comic-Con will remain a virtual event this year (hopefully they’ve figured it out by now, cause last year was a mess). Organizers are eyeing a smaller, in-person event in November.

-A lot criticism surrounding Wandavision is about how the Avengers movies didn’t have enough Wanda in them for the audience to be invested in her for her own show, but the last episode went back in time to make emotional sense of the character.

Ellen Pompeo insists they still don’t know if this season of Grey’s Anatomy will be its last. “We honestly have not decided. We’re really trying to figure it out right now.”

-Here’s the first trailer for Operation Varsity Blues, Netflix’s take on the college admissions scandal.
