–Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a delight in the new issue of Vogue. In the interview, she talks about cutting abortion law comments from her SNL monologue (“Because if you rant and rave, if you try and make a noise, you’ll be labelled noisy. You have to be careful of that. You have to find ways to protest”), her drink of choice (“The gimlet came into my life about a year and a half ago. I have really always wanted a cocktail that you order with total confidence; you know, that thing that you order and everyone’s like, Holy shit, she knows what she’s doing with her entire life”), and why you stop sharing as much with your friends as you get older (“I think the first half of your life, you’re trying to find out who you are, and you’re kind of knocking yourself against things, and testing things the whole time, to help kind of sculpt yourself. Then later, when you’ve got as close to sculpted as possible, you’re like, Don’t touch anything, in case it changes me”).

-Speaking of good magazine covers, Katie Holmes covers two this month (the December 2019 issues of Elle UK and SHAPE) and she refused to acknowledge the Tom Cruise years — even in style retrospectives.

-This is sad but not surprising: a new Britney Spears documentary features an interview with the salon owner who witnessed her infamous head shaving incident. The owner claims that Spears’s bodyguards were bribed by the paparazzi for her location and to continue to open the blinds of the salon, allowing a photographer hiding in the bushes to snap photos of their charge.

-This interview with TI about how he obsessively monitors the state of his 18-year-old daughter’s hymen is horrific — and really, really medically stupid. (Dr. Jennifer Gunter has a great thread about all the ways TI is wrong.) This doctor should be have his license revoked.

–Jenny Slate‘s proposal story is very cute.

–Whitney Houston‘s best friend Robyn Crawford wrote a new memoir, in which she talks about how they knew they had to suppress their relationship. “She said we shouldn’t be physical anymore because it would make our journey even more difficult…She said if people find out about us, they would use this against us and back in the ’80s that’s how it felt.”

–Jennifer Aniston revealed why she joined social media, saying “People are already in my panty drawers all the time. And I want them out of my panty drawers. But now I can decide which pair to show them.” And here I thought it was because she was contractually obligated to promote her new Apple show.

–Drake is reportedly getting close to Kylie Jenner, according to People. (E!News‘ sources say it’s not serious which, yeah, we could have figured that one out on our own.)

–Hilarie Burton shared a photo of her wedding day with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, which featured his Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles, who officiated the ceremony.

-ABC is rebooting Revenge (a show I don’t think gets enough love) with a Latinx lead.

Harry Styles Goes Shirtless on Rolling Stone

-I checked to see how old Harry Styles is before deciding if I was allowed to drool a little over his Rolling Stone cover — and it turns out his 25. Totally fine. It took me awhile but I get it now.

–Katie Holmes has reportedly pulled the plug on her relationship with Jamie Foxx, with the news coming days after he was spotted holding hands with another woman. Again.

-Congrats to Dwayne Johnson and his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, who got married in Hawaii.

-According to TMZ, Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber are eyeing a date in September for a big wedding event/anniversary party.

-Harry Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Tom Felton reunited to play guitar in their pjs, launching a million fanfics.

–Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter continue to stoke relationship rumours. The pair were spotted hanging out with Miley’s mom in Los Angeles.

–Elton John loaned his private jet to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry so they could enjoy some time at his private estate, and was not amused when the British press complained that the were adding to the carbon footprint by not flying commercial. The Brits are definitely focusing on the wrong royal right now.

-The casting for HBO/BBC’s fantasy drama adaptation of His Dark Materials continues to awe. Andrew Scott (aka Fleabag’s hot priest) just came onboard.

–Kate Hudson doing sponcon for Weight Watchers is weird but at least she seems to be having fun with it. Who cooks in a trench coat tho?

-Arrow may be wrapping in January, but Stephen Amell already has his next gig lined up: he’ll headline an 8-episode wrestling drama at Starz. This seems like a good career move. Transition into a bit more prestige-y stuff, while sticking with TV and the type of content his fanbase will follow him for.

-Ugh, these clips from Anderson Cooper‘s interview with Stephen Colbert  on the tragic death of his father and brothers in a plane crash made me tear up.

-The Seth Rogen-produced Good Boys, a movie about the R-rated misadventures of 3 preteen boys, had the year’s largest opening total for an original comedy.

–Lana Condor and Noah Centineo tweeting sweet things at each other as they wrap TATBILB filming is killing me.

-This is a good look at how this age of media corporation mega-mergers spells trouble. People don’t seem as concerned about Disney taking over Hollywood as maybe they should be.

-I was looking forward to CW’s debut of I Ship It tonight (about a woman who impulsively quits her job to become an assistant on the show she’s been writing fanfiction about) but the reviews are just ok.

-Man, last night’s episode of Succession should have included a trigger warning for anyone who’s ever worked in digital media. (One of the show’s writers/producers used to work for The Onion, which is probably why they nailed it.) The headlines running in the background for the fake Gawker/Buzzfeed site were perfect.

-Marvel Comics’ attempts to appear apolitical don’t seem to be working anymore.

-I really enjoyed this interview with Michelle Williams on preparing for Fosse/Verdon and taking a break from working.

-The trailer for Kristen Stewart’s “new” movie (which she filmed in 2017) couldn’t have come at a worse time for her.

–Reese Witherspoon is taking on Marie Kondo with a new Netflix show about tidying up.

-Today was a *crazy* day for TV trailers and news. Steven Soderbergh‘s next movie about older ladies going on a trip (starring Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen, and Dianne Wiest) has landed an the upcoming streaming service HBO Max. Amazon dropped its trailer (featuring Sterling K. Brown) and release date (Dec 6) for season 3 of Marvelous Mrs Maisel. We got our first trailer for Ryan Murphy‘s Upcoming Netflix show The Politician, starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Platt. But the buzziest drop (and maybe not in a good way) was Apple’s first real trailer for The Morning Show, starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell. For a company with a reputation for their marketing genius, they are not handling these trailers well. With this cast I was expecting a comedy, not what looks like a dour mix of Studio 60 and The Newsroom. And was Witherspoon really cast as the young ingenue?!

Emma Roberts Talks BFF and Book Clubs in Cosmo

-In her Cosmo cover story, Emma Roberts skirts questions about her split from Evan Peters (“I never want to talk about relationships I’m in or that are ending or have ended. It’s hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience”), instead preferring to talk about what books she’s currently reading. Fair enough.

–Kumail Nanjiani is the latest celeb to appear on Gay of Thrones in an episode that is way more enjoyable than the one they’re recapping.

-Speaking of the last episode of Game of Thrones, Jessica Chastain blasted the show for that Sansa moment, tweeting: “Rape is not a tool to make a character stronger. A woman doesn’t need to be victimized in order to become a butterfly. The little bird was always a Phoenix. Her prevailing strength is solely because of her. And her alone.”

-Uh oh. Britney Spears’ mother believes her daughter is in such bad shape she’s requesting the court date over conservatorship be moved up to Wednesday.

-I spent a lot of time last night trying to figure out whether a Met Gala outfit was camp or not. Check out some of the most memorable outfits.

-Also, I can’t stop staring at this photo of Michael Urie on the Met steps.

-After years of trying to keep their relationship under wraps, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx made a rare public appearance at the Met Gala together.

-Every year the Met Gala has a “no selfies” rule, and every year celebrities break it.

-Yikes. When asked about the Michael Jackson doc Leaving Neverland, Madonna said “I don’t have a lynch-mob mentality, so in my mind, people are innocent until proven guilty.”

-In his newly released memoir, Common says he was molested as a child, and Laura Dern helped him process it on the set of The Tale.

-Some of Meghan Markle‘s family continue to be garbage people.

-This Tracy Morgan profile in the New Yorker is a trip. It seems like spending any amount of time with him would be both frustrating and fascinating.

–George Clooney says he “hit the jackpot” with his wife and kids. Five years ago, I never would have thought that I’d be typing that sentence…

-Oh no. I was hoping Nicholas Brendon (Buffy’s Xander) had turned his life around recently, but he has been charged with felony domestic violence. He could face up to four years in prison if convicted.

-Get ready for soo many Avatars and Star Wars. Disney is now scheduling each franchise every other year, starting with Avatar 2 in 2021.

-Poor Channing Tatum. His passion project Gambit continues to remain in development hell.

-I kind of love that Chris Evans is having the best box office moment of his life, and still went to his high school reunion.

–Richard Madden in talks to join Angelina Jolie in Marvel’s The Eternals and I don’t hate that at all.

–Awkwafina grapples with death and culture in the trailer for Farewell, which was beloved at Sundance.
