Angelina Jolie Says Her Family Is No Longer in “Lockdown”

–Angelina Jolie is selling her new movie hard (probably even harder now that the reviews following its TIFF premiere have been decidedly mixed). In a new People cover story, she spoke about the “difficult” year she’s had and revealed that she’s “a little bit stronger,” and that her family is now out of “lockdown.”

-16-year-old Maddox was also interviewed. I guess that’s what happens when you make your kid an exec producer of your movie.

–Rebel Wilson has been awarded record-breaking $3.6 million in that defamation suit. She says she plans to “give the money away.”

-Millennial pink is still going strong, huh? Rihanna filled the Park Avenue Armory with pink sand dunes for her latest Fenty collection.

–Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to inch closer to an engagement. He’s reportedly introduced her to the Queen.

-Out of all the shows that were competing in EW’s fall TV cover battle, I didn’t think Riverdale would be the one to come out on top. What do I know?  Meanwhile, here’s the trailer for season 2.

–Diane Kruger just took the crown for the worst-dressed at TIFF (and this is coming from someone who’s going to tonight’s TIFF activities in her fat jeans…)

–Carey Mulligan showed up at TIFF looking very not-pregnant, so she must have had her second kid recently.

–Idris Elba is so over all those questions about possibly playing Bond. (“Can we not? Because it feels like I’m campaigning, and I’m not. At first it was harmless — oh, I know, wouldn’t it be great? — and now it’s started off racial debates. I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I’ve not even played the role. Enough is enough. I can’t talk about it any more.”)

–Tyrese is publicly feuding with The Rock via Instagram comments. This will not end well for him.

-A new Top of the Lake: China Girl trailer reveals who Nicole Kidman is playing.

–Kelly Clarkson just joined The Voice‘s season 14 as a coach, which seems like a hilarious middle finger to the Idol reboot.

-Meanwhile, sources at Live with Kelly and Ryan are trying to shoot down rumours of a feud (already!) now that ABC is reportedly talking to Ryan Seacrest about possibly hosting its American Idol revival and Kelly Ripa reportedly (and understandably) “wants to make sure her show is Ryan’s first priority, not Idol.” How many times is ABC going to screw her over when it comes to cohosts?

-Speaking of talk shows, Steve Harvey sounds like he’s a real charmer on the set of his. A memo he sent to his staff before the new season leaked, and it includes such gems as “Do not come to my dressing room unless invited…Do not approach me while I’m in the makeup chair unless I ask to speak with you directly…I promise you I will not entertain you in the hallway, and do not attempt to walk with me. If you’re reading this, yes, I mean you.” Harvey confirmed the memo’s legitimacy and admitted he “probably should have handled it a bit differently” but refused to apologize.

-The Bachelor host Chris Harrison immediately spoofed it with his own memo to staff.

–Bow Wow says there’s a “scientific method to my madness” after Twitter called out his private jet lie. Sure, buddy.

-Universal Music already wants out of its deal with Prince’s estate over accusations of fraud.

-Ha ha ha! When asked if Justice League will be better than The Avengers, Diane Lane (who plays Superman’s mom) bluntly said, “No and no. Short but honest. I hate to disappoint.”

-This is a great, great profile on Kathryn Hahn, who steps into the spotlight in Netflix’s new show I Love Dick.

–Kate Hudson made a kissy red carpet debut with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa.

–iZombie was renewed and all is right with the world. Meanwhile Timeless has been canceled by NBC. Nobody tell Leslie Jones…

-The new poster for Wonder Woman drops the word “woman.” That’s swell.

-Meanwhile, Wonder Woman is tracking for a solid $65M box-office debut.

-Both Ben Affleck and the tabloids are ready for a new girlfriend.

-Master of None season two lands on Netflix tomorrow and the reviews are glowing.

-The new Twin Peaks new promo is SO good.

–Naomi Watts is a bad therapist in this first trailer for Netflix’s Gypsy.

Ja Rule’s Frye Fest Blows Up In His Face

-Rich millennials paid thousands for Ja Rule‘s Fyre Fest (which had been billed as the most luxe festival ever) and are now stranded on an island.  There were warning signs from the get-go when a bunch of the private planes attendees were supposed to use didn’t take off. Those who did make it were met with disaster-relief tents instead of VIP villas, lost their luggage, given two pieces of bread and slices of cheese for dinner, and had no clear way to leave. (People who managed to leave were then locked in the airport.) Oh, and headlining band Blink-182 dropped out, and the most famous guests were reportedly warned in advance not to attend.

–Ja Rule has apologized. So that’s something?

–Johnny Depp boarded a Pirates Of The Caribbean ride dressed as Jack Sparrow and everyone lost their shit. So I guess we’re all just forgetting about those abuse allegations? Great.

–Katy Perry sings about her “5-star Michelin” p*ssy in her new single, Bon Appetit. That’s nice.

–Val Kilmer did a Reddit AMA and his answers were pretty stellar. I especially liked his response about shooting Heat, and what it was like to be deemed a “difficult” actor.

–Goldie Hawn was interviewed by her daughter, Kate Hudson, for the latest issue of Interview.

-A Roseanne revival with the original cast is in development at ABC (or maybe Netflix). Sigh. It was a ground-breaking show at the time, but come on Hollywood. Are there NO new ideas?

–Viola Davis gave a toast at the Time 100 gala and it was so damn good. Give this woman a TED Talk!

-Alright Blake Lively, I’ll give it to you: this Instagram caption is funny.

-Have you listened to S Town yet? It’s the hit podcast from the Serial crew. I just finished and I’m super conflicted. Yes, it’s heartbreaking and moving, but as it progresses it begins to feel voyeuristic and gross to delve into the life of someone who can’t consent to such an investigation. Meanwhile, the residents of the town it depicts are split.

–Beyonce‘s food-ordering meme is still going strong.

-Wonder Woman  finally got some new TV spots! I’m going to need someone to explain this whole marketing campaign (or lack thereof) to me after the dust settles. I’m glad that media sites are starting to point it out.

–Emma Stone candidly speaks about anxiety treatment in a new mental health video series.

-Oh god, Gwyneth Paltrow‘s GOOP is getting a print magazine.

-Buzzfeed covered what exactly is at stake for writers with the potential writers strike next week — and it’s a lot!  The trades are suggesting 50-50 odds of a walkout. Meanwhile, here are 17 things that happened because of the last writers’ strike.

-I have to say, I’m kind of shocked that MTV cancelled Sweet/Vicious. Critics (justifiably) loved that show.

-Speaking of shows critics love, the new season of Catastrophe is here.

-I feel like Busy Phillips broke some kind of golden rule when she revealed that she makes more money from endorsements than acting — and I love it!
