Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Open Up in New Documentary

-The documentary on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aired in the UK last night, in which Prince Harry was asked about the rift with his brother (“Inevitably stuff happens. But we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers. We are certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and, as I know, he will always be there for me”) and Meghan admits that a British friend predicted the tabloids would tear her apart (“I really tried to adopt this British sensibility of a stiff upper lip”).

–Jennifer Lawrence tied the knot with Cooke Maroney this weekend in Rhode Island in front of 150 guests, including Adele, Sienna Miller, Cameron Diaz, Nicole Richie, Amy Schumer, Kris Jenner, Emma Stone and Ashley Olsen.

–Miley Cyrus went live on Instagram this weekend with Cody Simpson — and she really shouldn’t have. She told women you don’t have to be gay if you find the right man (“Guys, I was being a little too, like…hard-core feminist vibes and, just like, I don’t know, not allowing anyone in, but now I am. There are good men out there, guys. Don’t give up. You don’t have to be gay. There are good people with dicks out there. You just gotta find them”) and seemed to shade Liam Hemsworth.

–Camila Cabello is shutting down rumours that she and Shawn Mendes split. So there!

-Production on John Cho‘s new movie has been paused for 7-9 months after the actor injured his knee on set in New Zealand. Protect my precious at all costs!

-I actually have very little quibbles about TV Guide’s list for the best shows of the 2010s. (And I’m a quibbler!)

-New Girl star Lamorne Morris filmed police handcuffing his friend outside an L.A. nightclub when he then found himself handcuffed — for filming the incident.

-I loved last night’s premiere of The Watchmen. I’m not sure I totally got it, but that was some powerful, challenging stuff.

-The trailer for the final season of Bojack Horseman messed me up, man.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Canceled by Fox

-It’s killing season in TV land this week. Fox just canned Brooklyn Nine-Nine (nooo!!!), The Mick and Last Man on Earth — but weirdly, they have room for a dumb Tim Allen sitcom. They still haven’t announced the fate of Lethal Weapon (I’m still shook about how bad an actor’s behaviour must have been to get thrown off a show the network wanted to renew. Actors behaving badly is the norm, so it must have been REALLY bad).  Over on NBC, Law & Order: SVU, Blindspot and the Chicago shows will survive but there’s still no word on Timeless.

-I don’t know why Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt did a couples photo shoot, but I’m not complaining.

-This was such a good troll for Veronica Mars fans…

–Amal Clooney was so worried her Met Gala dress would rip, she changed in the gift shop. Seems like a lot of work for a not-great dress.

-So we’re in full Georgina Chapman comeback mode, right? First Scarlett Johannson wears Marchesa to the Met gaga, and now Vogue is giving her a soft-focus profile.

-In response to the profile, Yashar Ali wrote a rebuttal for HuffPo: “I’ve spoken to over a dozen survivors of Weinstein’s sexual predation about Chapman and all of them surprisingly said they believed she was aware, in some form, of Weinstein’s behavior. Two of them told me that Weinstein made misogynistic remarks to them in front of Chapman and she did not react in any way.”

–Ariana Grande and Mac Miller have split after nearly two years of dating.

-People keep trying to put Justin Theroux and Emma Stone together. I’m going to continue to cling to a blind item I read that said she had no interest in dating him. I’m CLINGING to it!

–Jennifer Garner made a music video about being a mom for Ellen. I don’t get it.

-I liked this interview with Nick Offerman: “After Parks and Rec, the parts coming my way were overweight men in briefs, crying.”

–Jennifer Lopez and Jimmy Fallon faced off in a fast dance dance off!

-In an interview with Lana Del Rey for Elle, Kendall Jenner says it was “weird” when her younger sister had a baby before her.

–Chris Brown is being accused of hosting a party at his L.A. home where a woman claims she was repeatedly raped by two of his friends.

-Spotify has removed R. Kelly music from its playlists, citing new hate content and hateful conduct policy. Now Sony and RCA need to drop Kelly from its roster.

-Writers for the original Roseanne series say they’re struggling to reconcile the character they wrote with the reboot’s new, Trump-loving character who jokes that her Muslim neighbors’ pile of fertilizer in their yard means they’re making a bomb. “I don’t recognize that character.”

-I really, really don’t want Roseanne to attempt to do a #MeToo episode.

-I kind of love that Jessica Chastain is walking the walk. She’s producing and starring in 355, a female spy movie with Penélope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Lupita N’yongo and Fan Bingbing.

-Watch Deadpool apologize to David Beckham for insulting his voice in the first movie.

-I love this: Patty Jenkins may earn nine times her Wonder Woman salary for the sequel, according to Variety.

-I guess I’m in the minority but I really enjoyed I Feel Pretty. Greta Gerwig did not.

-Watch John Cho‘s frantic hunt for his missing daughter in the first Searching trailer, also starring Debra Messing.

 

Chris Pine Pops Up in Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later

-Here’s the Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later trailer. Holy crap on a stick, is that Chris Pine?!?

-Also, this bit about Chris Pine in the Charles Taylor interview is great: “I don’t know why he isn’t getting every leading role there is. He’s gorgeous, he’s charming, he’s got a great level-headed presence, and what he does in Wonder Woman is amazing. He is there to show her off. That is really the mark of someone who knows how to act in front of a camera: I am going to step back a bit and let my co-star shine.”

-Meanwhile, I took this Buzzfeed quiz where you create a BLT and discover your perfect Chris, and I got Chris Evans. I’m very ok with that.

-JFC… Bill Cosby wants to hold seminars on how to avoid sexual assault accusations. Don’t assault people. There, I’ve just written his whole script for him.

–Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler reunited for a “Really?!?” segment last night on the Late Show. Really.

-Also, Amy Poehler has a theory about Daniel Day Lewis’ retirement. It involves potato chips and misunderstandings.

-I had very little interest in seeing Rough Night, but the trailers for Girls Night have me psyched. Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and the cast are featured in an upcoming episode of Carpool Karaoke and the preview is great.

–Ron Howard has officially taken over for the Hans Solo movie. According to EW, Lord & Miller were leaning into the comedy and allowing the stars to improv (which is what one does when one hires actors like Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge), but writer and Star Wars veteran Lawrence Kasdan wanted them to stick to the script. The kicker at the end of this article though…

-Also, who will get the finished film’s directing credit?  How will residuals be apportioned? Will Lord and Miller even be allowed to attend the premiere?  The directors guild is going have an interesting time figuring this one out.

–NASA is not impressed with GOOP’s $120 bio-frequency healing sticker packs.

–Alison Brie is doing some hard posing and smizing at the Glow premiere, but Dave Franco‘s presence makes it all better.

-It’s been a rough news week. Hey, here’s Justin Trudeau hugging an enthusiastic unicorn puppet for CBC Kids.

-The weirdest part about the Downton Abbey movie announcement is all the articles in which the cast seems surprised. “Well, tell my agent, because we’re still waiting to know.”

-Transformers: The Last Knight suffered a franchise-low opening day.

–Naomi Watts‘ new Netflix series Gypsy is not getting good reviews.  THR says “maybe watch episodes 1, 7 and 10. Skip the rest. You won’t miss much and you might enjoy it.”

–Taylor Swift put her music on streaming services and just made almost $400,000 in one week.

-HBO wants you to watch The Leftovers series finale so much, they put it up on YouTube for free. (I adored it, but if you didn’t watch the series you’ll be lost.)

–Alexis Bledel, who did the best work of her career in The Handmaids Tale, will return as a series regular in Season 2 (which has been extended to 13 episodes from 10). Which probably means no more new Gilmore Girls for quite some time…

-I’m kinda glad Jennifer Lopez is going back to her romantic comedy roots. That’s where I like her best (outside of Out of Sight, but that felt like a fluke).

-This is a great read about a Facebook group of tens of thousands of Brendan Fraser fans. Surprising, sweet fandom shit like this makes me weirdly happy.

–John Cho ponders death and romance in the Columbus trailer. Yes! John Cho in as the romantic lead in everything, please!

-Look at our girl Tatiana Maslany co-leading a movie alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. Look at her!!
