Emma Roberts Talks BFF and Book Clubs in Cosmo

emma-roberts-cosmo

-In her Cosmo cover story, Emma Roberts skirts questions about her split from Evan Peters (“I never want to talk about relationships I’m in or that are ending or have ended. It’s hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience”), instead preferring to talk about what books she’s currently reading. Fair enough.

Kumail Nanjiani is the latest celeb to appear on Gay of Thrones in an episode that is way more enjoyable than the one they’re recapping.

-Speaking of the last episode of Game of Thrones, Jessica Chastain blasted the show for that Sansa moment, tweeting: “Rape is not a tool to make a character stronger. A woman doesn’t need to be victimized in order to become a butterfly. The little bird was always a Phoenix. Her prevailing strength is solely because of her. And her alone.”

-Uh oh. Britney Spears’ mother believes her daughter is in such bad shape she’s requesting the court date over conservatorship be moved up to Wednesday.

-I spent a lot of time last night trying to figure out whether a Met Gala outfit was camp or not. Check out some of the most memorable outfits.

-Also, I can’t stop staring at this photo of Michael Urie on the Met steps.

-After years of trying to keep their relationship under wraps, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx made a rare public appearance at the Met Gala together.

-Every year the Met Gala has a “no selfies” rule, and every year celebrities break it.

-This Tracy Morgan profile in the New Yorker is a trip. It seems like spending any amount of time with him would be both frustrating and fascinating.

-Oh no. I was hoping Nicholas Brendon (Buffy’s Xander) had turned his life around recently, but he has been charged with felony domestic violence. He could face up to four years in prison if convicted.

-Get ready for soo many Avatars and Star Wars. Disney is now scheduling each franchise every other year, starting with Avatar 2 in 2021.

-Poor Channing Tatum. His passion project Gambit continues to remain in development hell.

-I kind of love that Chris Evans is having the best box office moment of his life, and still went to his high school reunion.

Richard Madden in talks to join Angelina Jolie in Marvel’s The Eternals and I don’t hate that at all.

Awkwafina grapples with death and culture in the trailer for Farewell, which was beloved at Sundance.

Colton Haynes Opens Up About Rehab

Colton_Haynes_attitude_rehab

-In his cover story with AttitudeColton Haynes says he’s six months sober after battling drug and alcohol addiction. “In 10 years, there were maybe 25 days I didn’t drink,” he said, but admits he hit rock bottom last year following his divorce and the death of his mother. “I locked myself in a hotel room at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills for seven days and was found in my room with these insane bruises all over my body…I almost ruptured my kidney, ended up in the hospital, ended up in 5150 psyche hold. I was on such a destructive path that I could not function. I lost partial sight in my left eye for a while. I ended up having two seizures. I didn’t know any of this was happening until I was sober enough to remember it.”

Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx dispelled those split rumours by going for a walk in NYC. I have so many questions about their wardrobe. If it’s cold enough for both of them to be wearing toques, then why is she only wearing a thin jean jacket?

-Hmmm, this is interesting. Angelina Jolie may be pivoting away from her recent directing roles…to become a Marvel superhero. Which is not a bad career move (it’s actually pretty badass branding), but it’s a big diversion from where she’s been focused the last few years.

Wendy Williams was spotted out with her husband, even though he reportedly just welcomed a child with his alleged mistress.

Pete Davidson reveals he once offered to pick up the bill for Kanye West’s extravagant dinner – and then immediately regretted it. “Kanye kept ordering the whole entire time. I didn’t know he was coming and I already put my card down because I thought it would be just me and [Kid] Cudi. Then, [Timothee] Chalamet showed up and then Kanye showed up and I was like ‘Oh, f**k’. And then I had to book two more gigs in Ohio.”

-This is lovely: Jason Momoa was honoured by local First Nation residents with a traditional fish feast while filming in B.C.

-People who saw Us are really into Winston Duke’s thighs. I haven’t even seen the film and yet this makes a lot of sense to me.

Ariana Grande has created a stir with a highly restrictive photo agreement for her upcoming Sweetener tour that has news outlets crying foul.

Rashida Jones reflected on #MeToo and Time’s Up during a panel discussion this week: “For these movements, there’s always an inflection point, and so many inflection points that are started by black women are missed. I do believe there is some version of this country and our lives that would be different if people listened to black women.”

-Remember when cord cutting was supposed to save us so much money compared to having cable? With Apple joining Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Go, YouTube TV, CBS All Access (not to mention the upcoming streamers being launched by Disney, Warner Bros, etc), the streaming bubble is just about ready to burst. The Wall Street Journal nails it: “If you look at the market currently, the average consumer may have room to add a service or two but the ceiling of what a consumer will pay is soon reached.”

-It’s been a few years since I’ve seen The 100, but do they just keep finding new communities every season now? Is it like the YA version of The Walking Dead?

Tiffany Haddish Talks Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyonce and Taylor Swift

tiffany haddish thr leonardo dicaprio beyonce taylor swift roseanne

-The biggest soundbite coming out of Tiffany Haddish‘s hilarious THR cover profile is her story about hitting on Leonardo DiCaprio (as it should be — she made fun of his p*ssy posse before telling him “I wanna do it with you as your character in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape….cause I feel like that performance deserves a real reward and that reward is [me]), but the whole damn article is worth your time. She talks about her early unpleasant run-ins with Roseanne, confirms that Sanaa Lathan bit Beyonce, and says she tried to take Taylor Swift to her 20th high school reunion but the singer’s security shut it down.

Angelina Jolie‘s rep is blasting reports that she is at risk of losing primary custody of the kids — and seems to blame Brad Pitt’s camp for leaking select court docs. “This misleading leak is not in the best interests of the children…It’s deplorable that someone for their own selfish reasons leaked selective portions of the confidential and sealed court record to create an inaccurate and unfair picture of what is really happening.” Whatever’s happening, legal experts seem to think it’s “extremely rare” for courts to intervene in this way. The judge’s orders that caught my eye was how she must provide Pitt with “each of the minor children’s personal cellphone numbers so that [he] may text them,” and that he can’t be with them unmonitored yet.

Justin Bieber was spotted hanging out with his ex-girlfriend Hailey Baldwin again. The two were “inseparable” in Miami over the weekend when they were both in town for a church conference(!).

Emma Stone and Justin Theroux are still hanging out — but other people were there too so I’m still holding out hope that they’re just friends!

-Gotta say, I love that the first marketing material Wonder Woman 2 released was this spoilery photo. Other franchises would spend the entire press tour teasing whether or not a role like this would be reprised, but right outta the gate they are getting it out of the way so we can all focus on other stuff. There’s also some scoop about Kristen Wiig’s character. The film, titled Wonder Woman: 1984, will be released Nov 1, 2019.

-I love this article about how Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Amy Santiago has exploded many a pop-culture myth about smart, driven female characters needing to be cold, humorless, and lonely.

-Speaking of great TV articles, this is an excellent deep-dive into how Netflix decides what’s a hit, and how it helps connect subscribers to its all-you-can-eat TV buffet.

Ryan Reynolds responded to Kanye West in the most Ryan Reynolds-y way ever.

-I really like this take by Lexi Alexander urging showrunners to question every time someone in Hollywood says an actress is “too difficult” to work with.

Sophia Bush admitted she felt pressured to marry her One Tree Hill costar, Chad Michael Murray. “How do you let everybody down…and when you have bosses telling you that you’re the only person who gets a person to work on time, and 200 people either get to see their kids at night or they don’t because our days start on time.” She also talked about why she abruptly left NBC’s Chicago P.D. after four seasons, saying it was because of a costar who is still on the show.
