Ryan Reynolds Wants to #PlankTheCurve

–Ryan Reynolds‘ #PlankTheCurve video made me laugh. “I think in times of crisis I think we all know that it’s the celebrities we count on most.” He nominated a bunch of other Canadians, including Seth Rogen who was quick to respond.

-Wow, Jeremy Renner just unlocked a new level of trash. Maybe he can use some of the money he made with those cringe-y Jeep videos on his kid.

-Another day, another round of Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas pap shots.

–Lisa Loeb just recorded a clip of her singing “Stay” to tell people to stay home.

-The kids of Stranger Things got together (hopefully awhile ago) for an episode of Carpool Karaoke. It’s weird that they know all the words to “Tiny Dancer.”

-Love Is Blind has been renewed by Netflix for two more seasons and they need to rush production because that is the mindless fun the world needs right now.

–Daniel Dae Kim is on the mend!

–Gwyneth Paltrow thinks we should all be spending this time writing the next great novel and maybe learn a new language. I changed from leggings into slightly fancier leggings. Is that not enough?!

-A psychiatrist who’s been featured in GOOP thinks covid-19 is a hoax. So that’s swell.

–Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are self-isolating together in Miami.

-Amazon has made a big part of their streaming kids content free for all on Prime. Here in Canada, Rogers recently opened up a bunch of kids and movie channels. CBS All Access just released Star Trek: Picard for everyone. I’m loving this trend.

-Elle Fanning is determined to rule Russia in The Great trailer.

 

Meghan Markle is In the Driver’s Seat

–Meghan Markle was spotted driving to pick up a pal at the airport in Vancouver. Meanwhile, Lainey appeared on the Today Show to discuss Meghan’s connection to Canada.

–Rihanna has reportedly split from her boyfriend of nearly three years, Hassan Jameel.

–Hank Azaria says he is officially stepping down as the voice of Apu on The Simpsons. He’s only 20 years too late.

–Liam Hemsworth and new girlfriend are in the PDA-on-a-beach stage of their relationship.

-This reads like a warning from Barack and Michelle Obama for Drake to stay away from Sasha, and I love it.

-Next week, Seth Meyers will be airing a Day Drinking segment featuring the Jonas Brothers, the Meyers Brothers and Jack McBrayer. Yes, please!

-Eminem just dropped a secret album and a new video, in which he advocates for gun control by revisiting the Las Vegas shooting of 2017. It’s all very powerful stuff, but elsewhere on the album, he appears to mock the Manchester shootings. In ‘Unaccommodating’ he signs “I’m contemplating yelling ‘bombs away’ on the game/Like I’m outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting.”

-This clip of Renée Zellweger doing a tap dance challenge is very cute. (She’s better than I would be.)

-Not surprisingly Disney is dropping the Fox name, and is rebranding to 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures.

-Welp. Less than two weeks before the Grammy Awards, the CEO of the Recording Academy has been suspended from her role due to allegations of misconduct.

–Taika Waititi might be in talks to direct a Star Wars movie and suddenly I care again.

-HBO boss Casey Bloys says Damon Lindelof’s breakout drama Watchmen is not likely to continue without him which is good, frankly.

-Hulu presented at the TCAs today, where they defended the early Veronica Mars drop and called the backlash to the season finale “a testament” to the show’s popularity. “The intensity of that reaction was a testament to how much people like the show.” Oh yeah. Hulu loved the fans’ reaction so much, they decided not to renew it.

-Out of all the networks to present at the TCAs in the past two weeks, it feels like Hulu was the one to premiere the best trailers. There’s Little Fires Everywhere starring Reese Witherspoon, Joshua Jackson and Kerry Washington, Normal People (based on 28-year-old Sally Rooney‘s incredibly buzzy book from last year), the Hilary Clinton doc, High Fidelity starring Zoe Kravitz, and The Great starring Nicolas Hoult and Elle Fanning as Catherine the Great.

Elle Fanning Talks Losing at Paintball to Angelina Jolie

–Elle Fanning claims she had an epic paintball outing with Angelina Jolie: “Oh, she’s aggressive..I had never gone paintballing before. We were in full-on armor. We were the only people in the place, with all of her kids. She and I were not on the same team. I was so bad. I hit their security guard in the neck, and he was on my team! Angelina’s really good.” Pics or it didn’t happen.

–Mariah Carey is writing her memoirs, which I am gonna read the crap out of. She promises it will be packed with revelations: “Born to a black father and white mother. Lived in basically very humble beginnings. Came out of it…And public humiliation and going through the wringer.” The chapters on Tommy Mottola and Nick Cannon will be worth the price of the book alone.

-In other book-y news, Rihanna is launching a “visual autobiography.” Sweet! Who needs pesky words anyway?

-I’m surprised how traditional Hailey Bieber’s wedding dress is. I mean, it’s very lovely, but not what I was expecting from a 22-year-old model.

-Meanwhile, Justin Bieber mocked Taylor Swift’s banana video.

–Ellen Degeneres is having a very bad day. She’s getting deservedly dragged for hanging out with George W Bush, and this tweet about her terrible reputation is going viral.

-It’s been 10 years since Jim and Pam tied the knot on The Office so EW talked to John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Paul Feig, Greg Daniels and Mindy Kaling about the secret ceremony, the last-minute dance, and how a horse almost became the focus.

–Jennifer Aniston told Howard Stern that shortly after divorcing Justin Theroux, she sought a psychologist to work through the breakup after he was spotted with various hot young things. She also said she had dinner last week with the full Friends cast.

-It seems like everyone I know has had a Liam Hemsworth sighting in Toronto this week and it’s my turn, dammit.

-The End of the F$*&ing World is coming back to Netflix on Nov 5. I really loved the first season and I’m not sure it needs another one, but I’m intrigued about where it goes from here.

-I’d never listened to the Thirst Aid Kit podcast before but my god, that Dan Levy episode is perfection.

–Joaquin Phoenix thinks he’s describing his craft, but he’s actually just describing an eating disorder.

-I’m not the biggest Marc Maron fan but damn, his take on Todd Phillips’ “woke” comments is perfect.

-Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart will release her first book of poems next spring. If nothing else, we’ll get a hilarious episode of Who Weekly outta this.

-Matt Lauer has resurfaced…on TikTok.

-I love that Aaron Paul is doing a Twitter scavenger hunt for premiere tickets to the Breaking Bad movie.

-Also, this video of the cast reuniting for the L.A. premiere made me very happy.

-With the rave reviews A Marriage Story and The Irishman are getting, everyone’s wondering how much money Netflix left on the table by not doing limited theatrical releases.

-Speaking of streaming services being stupid with money, Apple’s deal for Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell’s musical A Christmas Carol includes a $60 million price tag just for talent fees.

-Richard Madden, Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth and Mark Strong star in the trailer for the WWI drama 1917.
