Scarlett Johansson Goes Solo

Scarlett Johansson black widow

Scarlett Johansson covers EW to promote Black Widow. She talks about only having met Florence Pugh a few times before they filmed their first scene together (“Immediately we were in each other’s space, like, ‘All right, I’m going to grab your armpit, and you put your hand under my knee in a pretzel'”) and why she didn’t want the movie to just be “like Bourne, but with a woman” (“I hope that this film continues pushing that boundary, so that we can actually have more female superheroes who are inherently female, and aren’t just Batman in heels or whatever”).

-The Hollywood Reporter just released their stars and their stylists issue, which I always adore.

-Wow. Harvey Weinstein just got 23 years in jail, which is close to the maximum possible sentence, if his terms were run consecutively, of 29 years. The judge said “This is your first conviction, but not your first offense.”

-Meanwhile, before sentencing he said in the courtroom “I am totally confused. I think men are confused about these issues. Thousands of men are losing due process. I’m worried about this country.” It’s pretty ballsy to complain about a lack of due process — when you’ve just been afforded it.

Jenna Dewan gave birth to baby No. 2, a boy she named Callum Michael Rebel Kazee.

Wendy Williams called out Nicki Minaj for marrying Kenneth Petty, who registered as a sex offender this week following a 1995 conviction for first-degree attempted rape. “You should’ve never married him because now you’ve ruined everything about what your brand could be.”

Dakota Johnson‘s gives Architectural Digest a peek inside her home and I kind of love it.

-This video of today’s daytime talk shows with no audiences due to covid-19 is very eerie.

Naomi Campbell showed up to a flight from LA to NYC on Tuesday clad in a full hazmat suit, surgical mask and latex gloves included. Look, I had to self-isolate today due to this damn virus and even I think this is irresponsible and panic-inducing.

-Westworld is trying to make it seem like its truly reinvented itself for season 3, but in the end it seems like it’s just more of the same.

Jon Bernthal is set to star in an American Gigolo TV reboot at Showtime and wow, do I love that casting!

-Speaking of shows I want in my eyeballs immediately, Scott Foley has been cast to headline a dramedy about the ballet.

Brad Pitt is coming to HGTV for Celebrity IOU With Drew and Jonathan Scott. Each episode will feature a star getting hands-on with the brothers to imagine a design plan to reward their mentors, friends or family member.

-The Ellen Show got the three Love Is Blind couples together for a game of Never Have I Ever.

-Meanwhile, I’m kind of shocked that Gwyneth Paltrow watched Love Is Blind.

John Krasinski says he and Ryan Reynolds “turned into 14-year-old boys” when they got to meet a surprisingly friendly owl at Reynolds’ daughter’s birthday party.

Colin Firth and Julie Walters star in a new adaptation of The Secret Garden.

Seth Rogen Talks Kanye and Kids in GQ

seth-rogen-gq

-I love how everyone’s freaking out about how good Seth Rogen looks in his new GQ spread. He talks about Kanye West’s influence on him and why he and his wife don’t have kids. “We very much like our lives, so we will continue to put it off, it seems like, for a little while…I’ve had my friends be like, “Yeah, it really was hard on our relationship.” I’m not saying we couldn’t overcome it, but, again, we really get along and have a very good dynamic. She works very hard, and a lot as well, so when we’re together, we really try to enjoy each other and hang out.”

Rihanna’s NYT interview is a must-read: “I love being black. So, sorry for those who don’t like it.”

Celine Dion‘s episode of Carpool Karaoke aired and she was even more extra than we could have hoped for!

Johnny Depp accused ex-wife Amber Heard of having “painted-on bruises” to allege abuse, saying “She was the perpetrator, and I was the victim.” For crying out loud, her police reports had medical records in them!

Scarlett Johansson and SNL’s Colin Jost are engaged after two years of dating. This is going to be husband No. 3. (I always forget she was once married to Ryan Reynolds.)

-The Jonas Brothers are on the latest episode of Billy on the Street. “The measles are back and so are the Jonas Brothers!”

-In their new Esquire interview, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio talk about getting butterflies when meeting Luke Perry on the set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and it’s very sweet.

-Also, I’m sure Brad and Leo like each other — but this clip of them on the Cannes red carpet makes it look like they really, really don’t.

-Also at Cannes, Nicolas Winding Refn said his new TV show isn’t actually a TV show.  “It’s a 13-hour movie. It’s not TV!” Sigh. If movie directors don’t respect TV, maybe they should not attempt TV?

Colin Firth came to Elle Fanning’s rescue when she fainted at a Cannes party, which is so very Mr. Darcy of him.

-This is a good explanation of Hulu/Disney/Comcast divorce. Basically, I’m expecting to look back at my cable bill as “the good ole days” when we’re all paying twice for all the streaming services we’ll end up getting.

-The endless Keanu Reeves love that has come out of the John Wick 3 promo tour has been such a treat. I especially love this video of him with puppies.  There’s also this great story of him making a teen theatre employee’s day. And of course, his Ellen interview where she questioned why he and Sandra Bullock never got together when they both admitted to crushing on each other at the same time, and he responded “We were working.

-I don’t watch The Big Bang Theory, but people are really upset by the Penny twist.

-It sucks that Mayim Bialik had to shut down an Instagram commenter who ogled her for wearing a t-shirt — but do you remember the time she wrote a NYT op-ed about how she escaped harassment in Hollywood by not dressing provocatively?

-On a new podcast, Julianna Margulies said she’s done ‘protecting CBS’ over the real reason she hasn’t gone on The Good Fight — because they wouldn’t pay her what she was making on The Good Wife. “I thought, Why am I protecting CBS? I said yes. They said no. And you know what? I need to pave the way for the next one coming up…I also know for a fact that any male star who is asked to come on a spin-off of their show would’ve been offered at least $500,000…If they were to ask me to go back on The Good Fight, paying me what my salary is, [I would be there] in a heartbeat.”

Joshua Jackson has been cast as the male lead in Hulu drama Little Fires Everywhere, joining a cast that includes Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington. I LOVED that book!

-The Chi has dropped actor Jason Mitchell following accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct.

-People may have hated it, but Game of Thrones’s finale set HBO’s all-time ratings record.

-Speaking of GoT, Jason Momoa live-streamed his reaction while watching the show and was NOT happy about Dany’s fate. Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke said of Dany’s turn “It comes out of f—king nowhere. I’m flabbergasted.”

emma-watson-jessica-chastain-interview

Jessica Chastain chats with Emma Watson in the new issue of Interview, in which the former Harry Potter star reveals she’s calling from a bath (“I didn’t want you to hear swishing water and be like, ‘Uh, what are you doing?'”), and  talks about protecting her privacy (“When I step into a character, people have to be able to suspend their disbelief; they have to be able to divorce me from that girl. And not having everyone know every single intimate detail of my entire life is part of me trying to protect my ability to do my job well”).

-Meanwhile, Taye Diggs is wearing a cone bra and doing “Vogue” on this week’s Lip Sync Battle, which just got another shot on my DVR.

-This might be the bestest story to ever be: Tom Hardy made a citizen’s arrest after pursuing someone who allegedly stole a moped through gardens in London, before grabbing the man and declaring: “I CAUGHT THE C**T!” Guy Ritchie has undoubtedly already bought the movie rights…

Vin Diesel is still insisting his F8 kiss was good, despite video evidence and Charlize Theron’s claims to the contrary.

Scott Baio continues to be trash, backtracking on his claims that Erin Moran‘s death was due to drug use after it came out that she had stage 4 cancer (notice he doesn’t actually apologize?) and then denying what he said — even though it’s on tape.

Abigail Breslin took to social media to explain why she didn’t report her rape.

Mila Kunis made her mom cry by re-doing her condo. Her parents are adorable!

-NBC has pretty much cancelled Powerless. I’m still stumped over why they reportedly changed it so much from the version everyone saw and loved at Comic Con.

-Now Ava Duvernay and Issa Rae have thrown their hats in the ring for the Lupita Nyong’o and Rihanna movie. MAKE THIS HAPPEN, HOLLYWOOD!

-Oh goodie. Now DC is plotting its own streaming service for its TV shows. Remember when we all thought cord-cutting would be cheaper?

-Welp. We’re at about a 50-50 chance of a TV and movie writers walkout after guild members voted for strike authorization with 96% support. A walkout would start May 2 if a new deal is not in place by then. Seems like health care is the big sticking point. The NYT has a good recap of the whats and whys. If it happens, expect late-night shows to stop immediately, scripted shows coming back in fall to be delayed, or have shortened and/or hurriedly written seasons, and streaming sites to get even more popular.

Colin Firth is back from the dead in the new Kingsman: The Golden Circle trailer. Halle Berry and Channing Tatum tag along this time.
