Billie Eilish

More Ted Lasso Is On Its Way

-Ted Lasso is coming back way earlier than I expected — July 23! Here’s the season 2 trailer.  Rewatching this show got me through the worst of the pandemic (so far).

Billie Eilish might be dating actor Matthew Tyler Vorce.

Demi Lovato apologized for going apeshit on a frozen yogurt shop. She had called them out for their sugar-free, dairy-free, and low-fat options, calling them a “diet culture vulture”. They responded that those were options for customers with health restrictions such as vegans, celiacs, and diabetics. It was such a bizarre story to begin with, but the optics of going after a small business right now didn’t help.

-TikTok Star Bryce Hall has been sued for assault and battery after an altercation at an LA restaurant was caught on camera.

Pete Davidson made it clear to Jake Paul that he’s not a fan.

-The cast of The Good Place (minus Kristen Bell) had a sleepover.

E. Alex Jung profiles are always a must-read, but his conversation with Mads Mikkelsen is an instant classic. Mikklesen talks about the Hannibal finale (“We actually did a couple of takes of the very last scene where we were looking at each other, and it was a little too obvious — it was almost a kiss. Me and Hugh [Dancy] were like, ‘Why not? We have a couple of takes. Let’s do one. It might be cool’…Bryan [Fuller] loved it, but he was like, ‘Too much, guys. It’s too obvious'”), what it was like to become recognizable in Denmark after playing a TV cop (“Since then, I’ve never bought a normal Coca-Cola. It’s always like, “Here’s your cola, Master Mads,” or “Get your fucking Coke, and get out of my shop.” There’s no neutral Coca-Cola anymore”), taking Rihanna‘s fake nails from the set of the “Bitch Better Have My Money” video (When we were done, I was like, “Are you done with them? Can I have some of them? I have a few friends who’re going to be so jealous when I show them this'”), and possibly the best career advice I’ve ever heard (“My approach to what I do in my job — and it might even be the approach to my life — is that everything I do is the most important thing I do…That means I will be ambitious with my job and not with my career. That’s a very big difference, because if I’m ambitious with my career, everything I do now is just stepping-stones leading to something — a goal I might never reach, and so everything will be disappointing. But if I make everything important, then eventually it will become a career”).

Julia Roberts dances it out in her new Chopard ad.

-Game of Thrones’ Iron Anniversary seems to be an attempt to reverse the bitter taste the series finale left fans two years ago.

Kate Winslet‘s new HBO show Mare of Easttown debuted to strong ratings. I’m glad; I dug it.

Kim Kardashian freaked out when she found out she was an inspiration for Bridgerton’s wardrobe — and then quickly tried to finagle a set visit. I would too.

-Here’s the trailer for Annette, a musical drama starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard, which is set to open Cannes on July 6. This trailer screams “not for me!!”

Armie Hammer Accused of Rape

-The media’s focus on Armie Hammer‘s alleged kinks and cannibalism comments have seemed to overshadow the more serious allegations about abuse and lack of consent. That might change now that the woman allegedly behind the House of Effie Instagram account, (which was the first to share anonymous allegations against the actor) officially accused him of rape and physical abuse during a 2017 encounter. In a press conference today alongside attorney Gloria Allred, she said “Armie Hammer violently raped me for over four hours in Los Angeles, during which he repeatedly slammed my head against a wall, bruising my face. He also committed other acts of violence against me to which I did not consent. For example, he beat my feet with a crop so they would hurt with every step I took for the next week. During those four hours, I tried to get away but he wouldn’t let me. I thought that he was going to kill me. He then left with no concern for my well-being.”

Hammer‘s lawyer denied the rape allegation and maintained that his relationship with the woman was “completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory.” He also added, “It was never Mr. Hammer’s intention to embarrass or expose her fetishes or kinky sexual desires,” because why not add some shaming?

Hailey Bieber is on the April cover of Elle, and talks about wanting privacy when she first married Justin Bieber. “I just wanted to hide. I was like, ‘I don’t want people so in my business. I feel like everybody’s up my ass.’ I was like, ‘Can there be no anonymity? Can I have any of it back?'”

-Wait, so Billie Eilish has been wearing a wig? It must be a good one.

Ralph Fiennes came to J.K. Rowling’s defense, because I guess he doesn’t care about being liked or admired.

-Oof, this interview with writers on crime shows is a brutal read. “We had a quote wall in a writers’ meeting. Every writer would come along with ideas, someone always suggested a character get raped. I said, ‘The thing is, that character’s already been raped.’ There was this big silence, and my boss said, “When was she last raped?” Sexual violence, violence against women, was the go-to for creating any drama. And it went on the quote wall: ‘When was she last raped?'”

-Welp. Kanye West is reportedly worth $6.6 billion. I wonder if that will change the divorce settlement?

Glenn Close and Mila Kunis tackle heroin addiction in the trailer for Four Good Days.

Melissa McCarthy in Instyle

Melissa-McCarthy-InStyle

-I missed Melissa McCarthy‘s Instyle cover but I love the photoshoot. In the interview, she talks about anti-maskers (“I truly didn’t think people hated each other that much or hated the idea of people who they don’t even know”) and quarantining with her mom (“She stayed five months, which was amazing. I haven’t lived with my mom every day since I was 18 years old. To have that time with her again was unbelievable”).

Gayle King keeps breaking royal family news. She says: “Meghan [Markle] has documents to back up everything that she said on Oprah’s interview. Everything.”

-Also, Prince William reportedly signed Harry’s name to the 2020 ‘bullying’ denial without Harry’s approval.

Billie Eilish ditched her green and black hairstyle for a new blonde look. I love it.

Taraji P. Henson also debuted a bold new hair colour.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are still engaged, a source tells People.

Demi Lovato‘s YouTube doc is filled with sad revelations, including that she lost her virginity in a rape by a costar in her Disney days, and she was sexually assaulted by her drug dealer the night of her overdose.

-In happier Demi news, her next album will feature a Ariana Grande collab.

-Youtuber David Dobrik responded to allegations of sexual assault against Durte Dom, a member of his Vlog Squad, saying “consent is super, super important to me.” He added, “With people in my life that I don’t film with anymore, like Dom, I chose to distance myself, because I don’t align with some of the actions, and I don’t stand for any kind of misconduct. I’ve been really disappointed by some of my friends.”

Hailey Bieber opening a beer bottle with her teeth (to the disgust of Kendall Jenner) is kind of cute.

Steven Yeun and Ali Wong will be co-starring together in a new limited series from Lee Sung Jin, who is behind FX’s Dave — a show I haven’t seen but people rave about.

-This is a great piece in Variety about how Hollywood is complicit in the violence against Asians in America: “Reducing Asians to flat, heavily accented caricatures is a favorite pastime in this country, and has been for decades.”

Bruce Lee‘s daughter also spoke out against the increasing violence, tweeting “This is where ‘kung flu’ leads. You think it’s a joke and that we shouldn’t be so serious about it. But then there are those who latch onto it with hatred and xenophobia and use it to fuel their fear and contempt until it explodes into heinous acts.”

-I just finished Allen v. Farrow and I don’t know how he comes back from this. The series takes the idea of separating the art from the artist and turns it on its head.

-The Synder cut of Justice League is getting good reviews. Mostly.

-The BBC is working on it’s own Britney Spears’ documentary.

Colin Farrell and Tye Sheridan star in the final Voyagers trailer.
