Blue Ivy Backs Up Beyonce

–Blue Ivy joined mom Beyonce on stage as a backup dancer this weekend, and again today.

-Last night’s Succession finale was damn near perfect. I would have liked a 10-second glimpse into Shiv’s thought process, but I think it was a mix of this (with a bit more weight on the latter).

-The episode featurette is definitely worth a watch as well.

-HBO tried to kill us last night by also airing Barry’s series finale (which I somehow remain unspoiled by) andĀ Somebody Somewhere’s season finale.

-The Marvelous Mrs.Ā MaiselĀ also aired its series finale this weekend, while Apple has yet to confirm or deny if Wednesday’s episode of Ted Lasso will be its last.

-No one is doing fan interactions better than Drew Barrymore.

-This year’s Actors on Actors lineup is so good. I’ve especially looking forward toĀ Greyā€™s Anatomy’s reunion with Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl.

-I’m very into this first look at Fellow Travelers,Ā Matt BomerĀ andĀ Jonathan Bailey‘s upcoming romance.

–Melissa McCarthy recently talked about a job with “such a volatile, hostile set that it made me physically ill.” Was it Mike & Molly?

-Yikes.Ā Benedict Cumberbatch and his family were reportedly scared by a knife-wielding man who broke into their London property.

Jason Sudeikis’ In the Hot Seat

-To promote Wednesday’s season (series?!) finale of Ted Lasso,Ā Jason Sudeikis appeared on Hot Ones.

-Meanwhile, the show is going into its last episode on a wave of bad press, mostly around that fact that they didn’t quite do enough to redeem Nate. The way this season is skipping scenes that are monumental to both the plot and characters is wild. Why/how did Nate quit? When did the team forgive him when the last we saw, they were all so angry with him they were getting red cards?

-In honour of this week’s Succession and Barry series finales, The Ringer is doing a series on the best finales ever, and this oral history of The Americans led me down a YouTube rabbit hole in which I basically watched the whole episode.

–Britney Spears says she reunited with her motherĀ after three years of not speaking. “Time heals all wounds.”

-Taylor Swift’s new song is about a breakup — possibly referring toĀ Joe Alwyn.Ā “I can’t find a pulse / My heart won’t start anymore for you / ’cause you’re losing me.”

-Fans are soooo angry atĀ Taylor Swift for dating Matty Healy, the lead singer of the 1975 with a history of antisemitism, misogyny and admitted “enjoyment” of racist porn. Meanwhile, there’s been a flood of fluffy articles about their relationship in the last few days.

–Taylor Swift fans are also not happy about her sudden collaboration with Ice Spice, which seems to be some damage control forĀ Matty Healy‘sĀ racist comments about the rapper back in Feb.

-I really do agree with this TikTok about how it’s the result of this weird parasocial relationship she cultivated. Do you remember how she used to engage with people on Tumblr? Invite fans over for cookies??

-Speaking of weird parasocial relationships, fans are upset by video ofĀ Jenna Ortega smoking.

-The latest Barbie trailer is even better than the first! (Though I really wish they’d used the Aqua song instead ofĀ Nicki Minaj‘s new version.)

Margot Robbie Talks Barbie and Blockbusters

–Margot Robbie is Vogueā€™s Summer 2023 cover star and talks about her Barbie costar (“The greatest version of Ryan Gosling ever put on screen”), who she wanted to cast but couldn’t work out the scheduling (“Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Because Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you donā€™t hate her for being that beautiful, because sheā€™s so genuinely sincere, and sheā€™s so enthusiastically kind, that itā€™s almost dorky. Itā€™s like right before being a dork”), and how she hates cooking (“In our friendship group in LA and London, all the guys cook, and love cooking, and are really good at it. And none of the girls cook, and we love drinking, and weā€™re really good at it”).

-I also like the bit in which Ryan Gosling said she gifted him on set: “She left a pink present with a pink bow, from Barbie to Ken, every day while we were filming. They were all beach-related. Like puka shells, or a sign that says ā€˜Pray for surf.ā€™ Because Kenā€™s job is just beach. Iā€™ve never quite figured out what that means. But I felt like she was trying to help Ken understand, through these gifts that she was giving.” As someone on Twitter said, it’s like the opposite of what Jared Leto did to her.

-Awful news:Ā Tina Turner, the legendary singer of hits like ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It’ and ‘Proud Mary,’ died today after a long illness in her home in Switzerland. She was 83.

-What happens at Coachella doesn’t stay at Coachella, apparently. Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes were spotted in New York together.

-THR’s new TV actors roundtable features Pedro Pascal, Evan Peters, Kieran Culkin, Michael Imperioli, Damson Idris and Jeff Bridges. I love how Culkin kind of takes over the interviewer role and asks really insightful questions (and basically got Pascal to admit it’s not always him in the Mando suit).

-I had no idea it’s The Flash’s series finale tonight. As someone who use to watch this show, I never hear about it anymore.

–Miley Cyrus took to Instagram to defend her decision not to tour anymore, saying “I just don’t want to sleep on a moving bus.” I wonder if she’ll go the residency route?

-This is an interesting look at how Amber Heard is (belatedly) getting public support.

-I was at theĀ Janet Jackson show last night and this moment when openerĀ Ludacris brought out Vin Diesel was hilarious.

–Zachary Levi says he wants his Shazam character to team up with Green Lantern in a future DC Universe installment. Yeah, I bet he does.

-Heartstopper season two debuts in August on Netflix.
