Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas Split

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas have split up . It’s a holiday in the US, which makes it a good day to try to slip this news under the radar. Still, the People quotes from sources are pretty supportive of both sides, and yet she’s been officially positioned as the dumper and he’s the dumpee. I wonder how they worked that out.

Armie Hammer has apologized after his finsta leaked and it included a post that showed an unidentified woman in lingerie on her hands and knees on a hotel bed, whom he referred to as ‘Miss Cayman.’ He issued a statement to the Cayman Compass: “I would like to clarify that the person in my video, which was stolen from my private Instagram, is not Miss Cayman.” First of all, if he posted it to Instagram it’s not exactly “stolen.” Secondly, *this* is what he feels the need to apologize about?! I gotta hope he’s just getting warmed up.

-This is a good take on how the cannibalism accusations are the least disturbing in this saga. His last girlfriend said she checked herself into a 30-day partial hospitalization program designed to treat PTSD and trauma following their 2-month relationship last year. I also liked this thread about how damaging it is for him to say he prefers rough sex but stopped wanting it with his wife because that’s the mother of his children and he grew to respect her too much.

-He was also reportedly fantasizing about sex during BLM protests, so it just gets better and better.

Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey look like they’re having a blast on vacation. Are paps just hanging out in St. Barts or….?

-I don’t watch Batwoman but according to critics, the show isn’t really feeling the loss of Ruby Rose‘s departure. They’re loving Javicia Leslie, who took over the leading role in last night’s episode.

Gwyneth Paltrow‘s ‘vagina’ candle reportedly exploded in a UK woman’s home, which was a gift for headline writers today.

Dua Lipa, I really like you, but we’re not doing this trend again, mmm-kay?

Kate Winslet said she learned to free dive and breath-hold for her role in Avatar: “We might be down for between three and a half and four minutes on any take. But that’s not my longest breath-hold. My longest was seven minutes and 14 seconds. Absolute truth.”

Kylie Jenner tried to show off her massive walk-in shower and all anyone could focus on was her terrible water pressure.

Justin Timberlake finally confirmed that he and Jessica Biel had another baby. His name is Phinneas.

-Oh god, please tell me Tiffany Haddish is not spreading covid conspiracy theories??

-A source tells People that Kim Kardashian and Kayne West have given up going to marriage counseling.

-The guy who played Christopher on Girlmore Girls denied rumours that he attended the Capitol insurrection — but he seemed to support it.

Matthew McConaughey talked cancel culture with Jordan Peterson. Jordan Freakin’ Peterson?!? That’s a bridge too far for me.

-Have you watched Promising Young Woman yet? My favourite part of it is how it weaponizes its casting by using actors who are known for playing nice guys on TV.

Bow Wow played a packed indoor concert in Houston. Can you imagine risking your life…for Bow Wow?!?

Trevor Noah and Minka Kelly, who have been dating for five months, are moving into a $27.5 million mansion.

Romeo Beckham looks so much like his mom Victoria on the cover of Luomo Vogue.

Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League is going to be a 4-hour movie on HBO Max, not a 4-hour miniseries. Twitter seems to think this is a big deal, but I continue to care a negative amount about this entire project.

Matt Damon has joined the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder. There’s no word if he’s got a bigger role than the cameo he made in Ragnarok.

-I like these predictions about how TV may soon change. Moving late-night shows to prime time seems like a no-brainer.

-Here’s the trailer for the new series The Equalizer, premiering after the Super Bowl. I’m not really into CBS shows, but I *am* into watching Queen Latifah being an ass-kicking vigilante.

Nicolas Cage fights killer animatronics in the first trailer for Willy’s Wonderland.

Rihanna Is a Work of Art in Essence

Rihanna is covering Essence to promote her new skin care line, and the stunning photo shoot is courtesy of artist Lorna Simpson, part of her ongoing project reinterpreting images of Black women who have posed in the pages of Ebony and Jet magazines.

-According to Ice T, Dr. Dre is home and doing well after suffering from a brain aneurysm.

-Oh boy. Armie Hammer’s finsta has leaked. He’s really, really bad at this.  Has he had zero media training? It’s like he didn’t even try to cover his tracks.

Bella Thorne, of all people, has come to Hammer’s defense.

Tom Cruise is now outsourcing his onset covid safety rants to robots.

-On THR’s podcast, Ben Affleck reflected on his relationship with Jennifer Lopez (“People were so fucking mean about her — sexist, racist. Ugly, vicious shit was written about her in ways that if you wrote it now you would literally be fired for saying those things you said”) and how it affected his career (“I was actually in the very worst position you can be in in this business, which is you can sell magazines but not movie tickets”).

Kate Winslet explains why her husband changed his name back from Ned Rocknroll to something less insane.

Kate also told a sweet story about her Sense and Sensibility costar Alan Rickman: “Whenever Al would go out to supper and anyone else would try and pay, he would somehow have phoned ahead or slipped his credit card ahead of the meal so no one even got a look at the check. He’d just say, ‘I’ve got two words for you: Harry Potter.’ And he became known for doing that.”

Betty White turns 99 this weekend. She can never leave us.

Kelly Clarkson thanked Jennifer Love Hewitt for being nice to her at an award show during her American Idol years — because most celebs weren’t. “You ran up to me right when [I was in the] final three of Idol…People were really mean to us, because we’re from a talent show, and it was the first season. Everyone was so rude to us on the carpet, at the show. It was so bad. It was a horrible experience. You came up to me, ran up to me out of nowhere, and said ‘Oh my gosh, I’m really rooting for you.'”

-The cast and creator of FXX’s You’re the Worst are reuniting for a fundraiser to benefit Feeding America. I basically started watching The Boys based solely on Aya Cash‘s participation, so I’m in.

John David Washington, 36, addressed the criticism over the age gap between him and Malcom & Marie co-star Zendaya, 24. “I wasn’t concerned about it because she is a woman, Washington responded. “People are going to see in this film how much of a woman she is.”

Ethan Hawke is making his superhero debut, joining Oscar Isaac in Marvel’s Moon Knight.

Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni reunite in these Law and Order: SVU set pics.

-I really liked this interview with Cristin Milioti and John Magaro.

-Ted Lasso season two has started filming. Maybe that’ll distract Jason Sudeikis from the tabloid wars.

-A new trailer for Sia‘s controversial film Music starring Kate Hudson and Maddie Ziegler has dropped.

Anne Hathaway’s Backyard Red Carpet

Anne Hathaway might be missing out on a Locked Down premiere, but she’s not skipping the red carpet. She ate this photoshoot.

-Also, she says we’ve all been calling her the wrong name. “Call me Annie. Everybody, everybody, call me Annie. Please…The only person who ever calls me Anne is my mother, and she only does it when she’s really mad at me, like really mad. So every time I step out in public and someone calls my name, I think they’re going to yell at me.”

-Here we go. Page Six published an interview with Armie Hammer’s ex-girlfriend Courtney Vucekovich, who attests to him making cannibalism comments, but levels even more disturbing accusations of emotional abuse. “He quickly grooms you in the relationship. He kind of captivates you and while being charming, he’s grooming you for these things that are darker and heavier and consuming. When I say consuming, I mean mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, just everything.”

-I’d love to know the “much-loved actor” who trash talked him to an interviewer.

-It’s wild that there a screengrabs of Mary-Kate Olsen‘s Zoom divorce proceedings floating around. And they were authorized!

-I guess those Deux Moi blinds about an A-list singer trying to be a movie star make sense now. Cardi B just landed her very first leading role in a film, Paramount’s upcoming comedy Assisted Living.

-Wondering why Brie Larson is trending? When asked how she spent recess when she was 10, she responded “10 years old? I’d probably be on the computer at the library researching ‘how do I know if I’m gay?'”

Lori Harvey and Michael B Jordan posting their cute snowball fight on Instagram kinda feels like rubbing it in, no?

Bella Thorne commented on Florence Pugh‘s Instagram video and fans started dragging her, and Pugh was not having it.

Chris Evans is reportedly in talks with Marvel Studios to reprise his role as Captain America in the MCU. So nothing is ever allowed to end and no characters are ever allowed to die? Got it.

Miley Cyrus says she once climbed the Roosevelt Hotel sign naked after “a rager.” Who amongst us hasn’t?

-This video of Lana Condor and Noah Centineo reacting to their new To All The Boys trailer is adorable. A++ marketing.

Macaulay Culkin has joined the call to get the Trump cameo removed from Home Alone. Canada already did it.

-Musician Ariel Pink sounds like a swell guy. The week after he attended the insurrection at the Capitol, court documents are revealing that he’s being accused of sexual misconduct and physical abuse.

-Warner Bros spent the holidays trying to placate their top talent after abruptly announcing that all their 2021 movies would be streaming on HBO Max. Denzel Washington is said to be getting his $20 million plus backend fee  for The Little Things, while talent making less than $4 million will be paid an additional 25% upon the release of the film as an advance against box office bonuses.

Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke play longtime friends  in the trailer for Netflix’s  upcoming series Firefly Lane.

-The trailer for I Care A Lot has arrived. I saw this at TIFF and my immediate reaction wasn’t overwhelmingly positive because everyone – EVERYONE – in this movie is terrible and there’s no one to root for. But as soon as I leaned into it, it was pretty great. Also, no one has ever looked cooler vaping as Rosamund Pike does in this. It’s on Netflix in the US, but comes to Prime on Feb 19 in Canada.
