Buckingham Palace Not Disputing Reports That Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Moving to Africa

-There was lots of gossip coming from the palace this long weekend, including talk that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will move to Africa after the baby is born, putting further distance between them and Will & Kate. The brothers were notably chilly during their Easter public appearance.

-Meanwhile, the palace released new photos of Prince Louis in celebration of his 1st birthday.

-A LOT of celebrities used the Easter long weekend as a news dump for split announcements: Michelle Williams split from hubby Phil Elverum after less than a year of marriage, Adele and husband Simon Konecki called it quits, and Pitch Perfect’s Anna Camp and Skylar Astin have split after two years of marriage.

-It wasn’t all bad news: Michelle Branch married Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney on Saturday.

–Luke Perry‘s final Riverdale episode will air this week.

-It looks like Homecoming was just the beginning: Netflix has landed a three-project deal with Beyoncé worth a whopping $60 million.

-God, last night’s Game of Thrones was my favourite episode in years. The big battle episodes like next week’s is rumoured to be don’t mean anything unless they’re preceded by “people talking in rooms” episodes. And it featured a perfect scene between my favourite duo on the series: Jaime and Brienne. This article on why they’re the show’s best couple is spot on.

-Speaking of GoT, people need to stop talking about “fan service” if they don’t know what it means. It means when the writers suddenly introduce elements that haven’t been developed/don’t feel natural just to appease a segment of the audience (the term comes from anime, when they’d throw in sexy costumes and scenes just to keep dudes on the hook even if it didn’t make sense character-wise). Fan service is NOT anything that makes a certain group of fans happy. That’s called story development. Paying off our investment in the characters we’ve followed for a decade by allowing them to have conversations before they head into a giant battle that some won’t survive isn’t fan service; it’s good storytelling. -There was also a lot of backlash to Arya‘s choice last night, but I loved it for these reasons. It’s hilarious that the HBO twitter account confirmed her character is 18 before the episode aired. Also hilarious: Sophie Turner drunkenly posting about “pussayyyy.”

-During Age of Ultron junket, MTV’s Josh Horowitz made the cast guess each other’s biceps. He leveled up this press tour by adding butts and abs, and it was hilarious. “Do not tell him that I knew that was his butt!!” “I’m texting him right now…”

-How is SNL’s Micheal Che continually allowed to pull this crap on social media?!

-Coachella screwed up Lizzo‘s music for the second weekend in a row — but she pulled out a flute and made it work.

–Felicity Huffman might luck out and get home confinement instead of prison time.

-NBC’s Chicago-set shows dropped a bunch of regular cast members. My mother will be crushed.

-I keep forgetting that iZombie returns on May 2. Here’s the trailer for the final season.

–Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway get their con on in the latest trailer for The Hustle.

-What’s happening with Anne Hathaway’s Tatler cover photo? Is it too much contouring? Photoshop? In any case, she talks about fighting for parts as she gets older (“It makes me sad that the world tells me my skin is somehow less valuable than it used to be, but I don’t listen and I don’t agree”), and the best advice Michael Caine ever gave her (“Separate bathrooms. When he told me that, I laughed and he looked at me and said, ‘I’m serious, it’s such an important part of the marriage.'”)

-Speaking of ageing in Hollywood, in a new interview with Allure, Reese Witherspoon says: “I didn’t have the same things to say [at 25]. I’m 43 and I’ve had a whole bunch of experiences, and I can speak with a thoughtfulness about the changes I’d like to see in the world, and…I just feel like I earned that gray hair and my fine lines. I like ’em. I so prefer 43 to 25.”

-I love Sweet Home Alabama, but I do not want a sequel.

–Jason Mamoa shaved off his beard for charity. He can still get it tho.

–Kim Kardashian explained how her weird-looking bathroom sinks actually work. They were designed by Kanye West, which explains a lot.

-Not surprisingly, Wendy Williams husband has been relieved of his exec producer duties on her show.

–Gina Rodriguez stars in the Netflix original movie Someone Great, which drops today, and the reviews are great.

-The blooper reel for Netflix’s Sex Education features Gillian Anderson swearing, which is the best kind of swearing.

-The #FreeBritney hashtag keeps trending. I really hope this is a case of fan overreaction and she’s ok.

-Shocking report: Kristin Cavallari says there were fake storylines on The Hills. “Most of my stuff wasn’t real.”

-A pop culture writer on Twitter has been crusading against TV shows/movies in which the characters are clearly holding empty coffee cups, and I love when actors get in on the action.

-The new Hobbs and Shaw trailer showcases Idris Elba so I’m here for it.

–Sebastian Stan arrives at his cousins’ house and proceeds to shakes things up in the We Have Always Lived In The Castle trailer.c

–Rihanna looks amazing in Chanel, Dior and Givenchy Haute Couture in her new Harper’s Bazaar photo shoot. I cannot stop looking at these photos.

-Speaking of amazing photo shoots, Keiynan Lonsdale in Vogue took my breath away.

-Time’s 100 most influential people issue is here, which features Taylor Swift (with a tribute written by Shawn Mendes), Sandra Oh (with a tribute written by Shonda Rhimes), Dwayne Johnson (with a tribute written by Gal Gadot), Regina King (with a tribute written by Voila Davis), Brie Larson (with a tribute written by Tessa Thompson), Lady Gaga (with a tribute written by Celine Dion), Emilia Clarke (with a tribute written by Emma Thompson) and more.

–Lori Loughlin‘s camp took her sob story to People. Because of course.

–Beyonce shocked everyone by dropping a surprise live album to coincide with her new Netflix documentary, ensuring that no one in the entire world did any work today.

-Look, I’m fully aware that this entire article was likely ghost-written by her PR team, but I’m still here for all the Jennifer Garner comeback pieces.

–Madonna‘s new single “Medellin” is here. It took a few listens but now I dig it.

–Britney Spears‘ mother is not doing much to reassure us that her daughter is fine. She posted about how “the battle is not over” and then liked posts about Britney being put in a mental care facility against her will.  What’s happening??

-Ugh, when asked about Rey’s parents, J.J. Abrams said Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will show us “there’s more to the story than you’ve seen.” This is why I’m concerned with Abrams regaining control. He adores his mystery boxes, but the reason that The Last Jedi was so powerful is because Rian Johnson introduced the notion that anyone could be a Jedi — even if you’re parents are nobody. It opened up the Force (kind of like the Buffy finale opened up slayerhood). Why destroy that, especially in the final chapter of a trilogy that established it?

-Huzzah! Emma Thompson and Paul Rudd will host SNL this season.

–Louis Tomlinson broke his silence following his sister’s sudden death to thank fans for their support.

-I really liked actor John Bradley’s take on Sam Tarly’s scenes in the Game of Thrones premiere. Sam is not only one of the purest characters, he’s often also the audience surrogate. So if Sam doesn’t like Dany, that doesn’t bode well for her.

-Meanwhile, the Gay of Thrones recaps by Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness continue to be the most entertaining thing about the show.

-I love The Cut editors’ review of Adam Driver’s new Broadway play based on his hotness, which includes lines like “it’s a really immense, thigh-forward experience” and “I was so flustered by his quads that at one point I spilled all of the contents of my purse on the floor.”

-Dead to Me, Netflix’s new show starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, is getting good reviews.

-Oof. The final trailer for X Men: Dark Phoenix does nothing to convince me that this film won’t be a mess.
